ThurinEthir
Free MMORPGs, eh? I consider that to be my specialty. I've tried way too many of them, I actually considered making a thread review a bunch of them. Maybe I will someday. Anyway, the thread Mano linked to mainly consists of P2P MMORPGs. Age of Conan, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online. I consider those to be the top three, from what I've read. So...Uh... [hide=Long...]First of all, my favorite free MMORPG of all time has been Silkroad Online. I don't know why. It just appeals to me. It's one of the biggest grindfests ever (Though as you will notice, basically every free MMORPG is), but there is something called the triangular trade. You choose a job, merchant, hunter or thief. Merchants buy caravans and goods, and go from city to city, making money. Thieves hunt the merchants, trying to kill them and steal their goods to sell for themselves. Hunters try to protect the merchants, killing thieves. It's pretty fun I guess, especially if you go in a large group. There are two sides to Silkroad Online, Europe and China. China is mainly for solo, and you choose from 3 weapons and 3 (Technically four) elemental masteries. Europe is party-based, you choose from 6 classes, but most people tend to sub-master a second class. I would think twice before trying Silkroad, it seems as if I'm the only person to like it. And it's bot-infested, if you thought RuneScape was bad, you were wrong. Joymax has started cracking down on them, but there are still a ton. Currently, my main MMORPG is Fiesta. The graphics...Well...Forget them. Putting them aside, there are only four classes, the standard warrior, archer, mage and cleric. It's also a grind, but there are things called Kingdom Quests, basically dungeons. Eventually, you're able to craft, like in RuneScape. You collect items, then you make them into things. I haven't gotten to that point yet, so I don't know much about it. Fiesta doesn't have that addicting factor, it doesn't make me want to play and play, like other games. The closest thing I've found to WoW has probably been Rappelz. None of my friends wanted to play it, so that was a downside, solo isn't fun. I did play it for a while though, and it's alright. Nothing too special. Voyage Century Online sounds like it's a lot like RuneScape. Plenty of non-combat, and there are naval battles. Sounds kind of unique to me. However, when I started, I had no idea what to do. The tutorial wasn't helpful at all. I think I managed to find a quest to do, and it was a grinding one. I uninstalled it after that. If you can find your way around, you might like it. Anarchy Online would probably be what Nadril says, after he tells you to dish out some money and get Age of Conan. And I trust Nadril's judgment when it comes to MMORPGs. If you can find some friends to play with, AO could be your best choice. However, my friends once again were reluctant to try it, but I ended up getting to a decent level. It has a somewhat steep learning curve, and it still is a grind...But it also has crafting. It's sci-fi, which may be another reason I didn't like it that much. I could go on and on...But I'll end it here, with a list. Talisman Online, another of the few MMORPGs that have appealed to me. Flyff, a game like a mix between Fiesta and Rappelz. Sword the New World, a unique game using MCC (Multiple character control), in a historical setting. Shadowbane, a PvP based game that I can't figure out is free or not. 9Dragons, a similar game to Silkroad Online, except in my opinion, worse. (Though some of the quests actually have a storyline) Drift City, a racing MMORPG that got boring eventually, but was really fun at first. I think I forgot a few, don't really remember. There are obviously more, just check on MMORPG.com.[/hide] Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. adam_ross0
I've got a few suggestions. [hide=Knight Online]This one is ok. It's a BIG Grindfest, and seems to be sort of a WoW clone, but I thought it was fun for a while. Decent graphics, easy to learn gameplay, generic combat system, It's worth looking at.[/hide] [hide=Flyff]I played this one too. It's pretty fun, the only reason I quit was because I left for a week and just couldn't get back into it when I came back. It's got Cartooney Graphics, and it's sort of a Grindfest in the beginning, but it's not that bad.[/hide] [hide=Warrock]Not so much an MMORPG as it is an MMOFPS. It's still free, though. Also pretty hard, and fun. It's an online FPS, and you buy your own weapons using either real money or money earned in-game from doing good in game. Of course, each weapon has a limited time. For example...if you buy an AK-47, you'll keep it for 1 month I think until it expires, and then you have to spend money earned in game to buy another. Very fun, challenging, and worth a look[/hide] [hide=Maplestory]This is...different. Free, but it's a 2D MMORPG. Very cartooney graphics, and you may not like it. Features your generic sort of Archer/Warrior/Mage classes, and it's an ok game. Worth it if you can deal with the 2D.[/hide] [hide=Stick Arena]Heh, this is here as a joke. It's not worth making an account for..full of little kids and people that use cheats, most commonly, auto aim, a rediculous firing speed, and extremely fast movement. A good way to waste a few minutes.[/hide] If you want a more detailed review for any of them, PM me.

deloriagod
I've always like Lineage II. Free download from here then just find a private server and join them. You can get into mid/high rate servers if you don't enjoy grinding. Shadowbane is still free (as far as I know) but that has gone downhill like crazy.. sohkmj1
Well i used to play some.... And still playing a couple Obviously other than runescape. Alright- [hide=MapleStory]Decent 2D game, has a sort of 3d background kind of thing.(Just started 3 weeks ago, still playing)[/hide] [hide=Conquer Online]It's a bit lame, with all the complicated crap. Older players might love this one, leveling is rather easy though.(quit because i forgot username and pass :wall: )[/hide] Here's some I haven't tried, but know of - [hide=SoldierFront(or whatever it's called...)]I haven't actually looked at this game, but it seems mmorpgish to me. Half my class plays it o.o[/hide] [hide=Flyff]I think it's 3D... Good portion of my class plays too.[/hide] If you need any of these games just google them. ThurinEthir
What about Granado Espada, I read about it in PC Powerplay and it seems decent. you have to pay for it i believe. :wall: Nope, it's the same thing as Sword of the New World, which I mentioned earlier. I don't remember much about it other than the MCC and the huge download. Oh, and you can AFK train. It's really easy. Soldier Front is a FPS, you'd be better off playing Combat Arms if you're in America or Australia. Shadowbane is still free (as far as I know) but that has gone downhill like crazy.. Yeah, but it's still better than a ton of games out there. -.- It's only decent if you can find people to play with though, don't even bother trying to solo the whole way... There's also a game called Perfect World, apparently it's good, but I don't know anything about it. I think it might be in Closed Beta right now, not sure...The only way I found out about it was I saw an ad for it on the side of a bus. #-o Only in Taiwan...
