Well, let's try ranking them and then discussing. My opinion?

 

1. Summoning. Whether you do it with bursting rock lobsters, it still takes time and is not buyable.

 

2. RuneCrafting. Entirely unbuyable and can take longer than summoning.

 

3. Farming. It's difficult to manage all the crops at once, and even more difficult to get without losing money.

 

4. Slayer. It's like all the combat skills rolled into one.

 

5. Tie between fishing and agility. Good old fashioned grinding.

 

7. Woodcutting. It's nearly the same thing as the other two, but takes a shorter amount of time.

 

8. Mining. Not buyable, but slightly faster than these others depending on how you do it.

 

9. Hitpoints, the hardest combat skill to get 99 in.

 

10. Defence, just about the same as the next two but takes just a BIT more time.

 

11. Attack and strength tie here.

 

13. Magic. Buyable due to alching, but also can be done with a profit. Any alching is considered buying the skill, whether you lose cash or not.

 

14. Ranged. This skill can be the fastest 99 depending on how you do it.

 

15. Hunter. Another grind, but not a particularly long one.

 

16. Thieving. Yet another grind, but a VERY quick one in comparison with the others.

 

And now we're into the buyable skills.

 

17. Prayer. VERY expensive, takes tons of attention as well.

 

18. Herblore. Less attention, plenty of expense.

 

19. Construction. Very expensive and takes a fair amount of attention.

 

20. Smithing. Takes plenty of attention but less expensive.

 

21. Fletching. Slower than cooking and takes more skill to manipulate the market to break even.

 

22. Cooking. Really just extremely unskilled.

Unless I'm much mistaken, you forgot firemaking.

Nice but I think fletching should go below cooking due to the fact that more people have 99 fletching and it costs less than 99 cooking.

 

 

 

But yea having Runecrafting at #2 is just right.

 

 

 

And also I believe slayer is much more RESPECTED than farming.

Actually, I don't feel like Jamming firemaking in there, so I'll say somewhere in last place. It's quick but requires concentration.

 

And as for fletching and cooking, I did say why I wrote that.

With Firemaking, you need TONS of patience.

It's still a buyable skill.

Absolutely everything you said is subjective. To compare an orange to an apple accurately you must determine specific grading criterias, anything else is nonsense. And there were already countless threads about this exact same subject, that you would have found if you had researched. This thread is a waste of time.

I'm not going to insult ANYTHING he puts there, just that particular list because it clearly wasn't particularly well thought-out.

Being buyable doesn't matter. You still have to get the money somehow. I think the most respectable ones are:

 

 

 

Slayer, Prayer, Runecrafting, Construction, Crafting, Smithing, Mining, Summoning, Agility, Farming, and Herblore

 

 

 

All the other capes are fairly common.

Certainly the cash for the skills can be hard to get, but the skills themselves aren't.

 

And why mining and not woodcutting or fishing? Both take longer.

I think slayer because i'm pretty sure it takes the longest to get to 99. I think runecraft comes in 2nd, mining 3rd, and idk about the rest but those 3 skills are the most respected in my opinion (don't bite my head of please it's just an opinion :P )

If a skill is buyable it does negatively affect its respectfulness, but not THAT much. Prayer should be much higher on the list. Getting 99 Prayer takes like 300m (correct me if I'm wrong) and if you can get that much money that warrants respect. And it's not like its extremely fast to train, like Range is with red chinchompas.

 

 

 

And Woodcutting should be lower, its pretty quick to train at willows in Barbarian Outpost.

If runecrafting isn't buyable,neither is fletching, cooking, prayer, firemaking, or herblore.

 

 

 

What items do you need to level runecrafting?

 

Essence, pure or the plain - both buyable

 

Talisman/Tiara (unless using abyss) - both buyable.

 

 

 

The pouches you may use along the way aren't buyable, but how is Runecrafting not buyable?

Note, defense > attack > strength for respect on those capes :P

 

 

 

But they do all deserve some respect, even if you buy millions of gp worth of logs, and just stand by the fire for few weeks/months, however long it takes, its still alot of work, and money to get it.

 

 

 

Consider this for buyable skills as well:

 

Once you buy the thing(s) for the skill, how much work do you have to do after you have them to get 99? Cooking, just use them on the fire, then click cook all, or cook X, which ever one it is. But for herblore, you have to have the herb, the vial, and the second. Where as the buyable half of summoning, you have to have shards, pouches, and the second. (after youve collected the unbuyable part of charms that is)

But along the way, slayer helps you out alot more. It trains your combat stats, and can earn you quite nice money, when you walk into 99 cooking, thats what you get, 99 cooking, and a hole in your proverbial pocket.

Woodcutting wasn't necessarily that hard. I have 99 Woodcutting and only 80 Mining. Mining requires a lot more attention and clicking.

I love how everyone puts mining so high up, but in reality it's faster than fishing and the suchlike even if you powermine iron.

The thing with mining is that it requires a lot of clicking. You have to click for every ore. With fishing you just click on a fishing spot and wait for a full load.

Slayer - Takes a while, most players just get 99 combat stats and don't bother

 

Farming - Its not hard, its just that players think it is, which in my book, makes the 99 more awesome. Its not a buyable because its more then just click once and read a book.

 

Mining - Click click drop, tenious, carpal tunnel, call it whatever you want

 

Agility - "" minus the dropping

 

Summoning - Charms makes it hard, but it still pales in comparison to the above

 

Hunter - Kinda easy

 

Thieving - Pyramid Plunder made it easy

 

Fishing/Woodcutting - AFK really

 

 

 

Buyables (Skills easily gotten with lots of $):

 

 

 

Construction - Un-note, sawmill, build, destroy, repeat

 

Herblore - Making unfinished then finished potion takes two steps

 

Smithing - Mostly AFK, but requires $

 

Prayer - Carpal tunnel from Altar, but fast

 

Crafting - Hides

 

Ranged - Chinchompas

 

Magic - Burst/Barrage

 

Fletching - Yew longs

 

Cooking - Sharks
