For along time now I have been in possession of many artifacts claiming to be very old. They where collected around the period of 1900 by a world explorer and history teacher (unknown university) I own about half of his collection that came to my family, of which some are said to be ancient Egyptian. The first one is part of a coffin, what I would like however is some help with the witting in it. Sadly I understand I will not be able to get much from as it as only a small sample....... but every little helps;

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also in the image is apparently a wooden figure found in the coffin.... although I know no details of what it was for, or if it has significance.

 

 

 

Below is an image of the base of both objects, the figure appears to have a mark of some kind on it.... and the lable on the coffin reads:

Well just to comment the very top one.. It looks like a cheap marker fake, could be a fabrication, but hard to judge based on just a pic..

 

 

 

http://www.eyelid.co.uk/hiero1.htm Has translations and latin letter equivalents for Egyptian hieroglyphs though, but I couldn't recognise them in those pieces you own. (Except possibly the letter 'A', the bird)

I am willing to admit the possibility of it being a fake.... would be daft to exclude that possibility, although the man who I know of who first had it was definatly an explorer/history tutor/archeologist and would hope he would have spotted a fake (fingers crossed) however even if it is fake...... it's still over 100 years old :P

I can't offer any help in terms of actually translating what they say, but I'd bet at least $3 on them (at least the top one) being fake.

Tipit forums probably isn't the best place to ask a question like this, but this will bump it up so maybe someone will see it.

I'm no expert but ive got wood in my garage that looks older than the wood in your image.

The top artifact or whatever the cuts and grooves on it look way too good to be true. Not machine done, but by something that was available in the early 1900s. Just looks very fine compared to the tools that they had back then.

I admit too that the wood looks fake though.Your the first guy i know with fake wood. (weel not neccaserily fake wood, just fake wooden artifacts...)
