Protip: System Of A Down IS NOT Nü Metal.

Mlb again, personally I used to like Nü metal, but only because my muscial tastes where only developing years ago. anyway, can someone enlighten me why Nü metal is good? I only used to like it when I was like 11, when my musical tastes were flawed so don't hold it against me. I noted that Nü metal is a hugely hated genre in this forum, but there are some people that like Nü metal (lol) on these forums and i'd like to know their opinions. The Nü metal bands that I don't get are popular are: Dragonforce, Slipknot, Finger 11, Soilwork, and Godsmack.

NOTE TO MODS: Please don't lock this thread, as my opinion may be anti-Nü metal, I am giving others a chance to give there reasons to why this genre is good.

Hey guys, can you explain why you think [genre] is even remotely listenable? I mean, I used to like it when I was a little kid, but now that I am much older and wiser (I'm 16 lol) coupled with my now totally refined taste in music (Disturbed and SoAD are AWESOME!) I can honestly not understand how someone can like this stuff. It is now your duty to explain this phenomenon to me.

PS: NO FLAMING (I get butthurt!)

What is there to explain or even discuss exactly? They obviously like the way the music sounds; the way it makes them feel, etc., for the same reason you like the type of music you listen to. Different people have different taste. Who are you to question them? And we all know Mlbfan didn't create this thread to consider and evaluate other peoples' ideas and opinions. I mean, come on.

Because I used to like Nü metal, so it must've been doing something right.

Trolling wouldn't be as common as it is now if people knew how to deal with them. And right now this thread is just full of internet drama. What do you think he was aiming for?

When I go around school I see most of the younger kids wearing Slipknot shirts. They're going through a revolutionary time in their life - entering the rebellious teenage age. Most are not mature enough to like the real metal, but they are starting to like the idea behind metal (the hardcore lifestyle) and the catchiness of the songs is what draws them in.

Taken from the OP:

Also, as a sidenote, both Disturbed and SoAD seriously borderlines on nu metal. You're not as "refined" as you try so very hard to make yourself out to be, Mlbfan.

What? Stop trying to analyse this like it's some sort of mental illness. You're ridiculous. I know people well over 20 that are big fans of Slipknot, they're not "going through a stage" in their lives, they just like the goddamn music. What's so hard to grasp?

I like Slipknot too. I'm talking on a general level from my speculations at my school. You like making assumptions dontcha?

Tell me, how many Elementary School kids listen to Slipknot, Azzy. (Lol Azzy. I'm funny.)

Taken from the OP: "Mlb's quote"

Isn't that exactly my point? Did you not see the word "obvious" in my post? How did you not crack the code of the trolls yet? You'd think you'd learn by now, being here since 04 and all. You did exactly what he wanted you to do. Talk about ridiculous.

PS: People like metal for a reason. People like country for a reason. People like different music for different reasons - for the majority of people it's not just because they find it "appealing to the ears". If you ask me, almost all music sounds appealing. You're ignoring an important ingredient: the attitude of the music. I think country and pop both sound good (they are catchy), but it just doesn't fit my personality at all. I like more hostility in my music, therefore that is why metal appeals to me and country does not.

Your talk of "most of them aren't mature enough to handle real metal" makes me inclined to ignore your posts henceforth. Forum psychologists are the best.

Nice ninja edit:

I wouldn't know. Haven't been to one in over 10 years. As for the other quote, I apologise. In my defense it's past 4 AM and I simply skimmed over your post.

I honestly don't think they are. I wasn't at the time. I listened to Slipknot before I listened to Slayer, Sepultura, Iron Maiden, etc. Nu Metal is what got me into real metal, and from the looks of the kids' shirts at school, it looks like they are the same way.

Dragonforce is Nu Metal? And FINGER ELEVEN? There is no chance F11 is Nu Metal at all

I listen to Slipknot (now I do, I only like their newest album), and I also listen to "real" metal like Slayer. I also have gotten into All That Remains, and I'm pretty sure they're Nu Metal, they remind me a lot of Alexisonfire in some songs (like This Calling Master) where they have screaming then really nice, soft singing.

He can't understand why Nu Metal is appealing to some just like I can't understand how Metal along the lines of Cattle Decapitation is appealing to some people. I mean, that band is just garbage. Sorry, but if I can't understand a word that comes out of your mouth than please just shut up. Talking excessively about gore and the like does not make you cool either, it makes you psychologically unstable. I'll be waiting for the murder spree.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

Nice try. Blatant trolling and flame-baiting, just give it a rest.

Locked.
