Longest "On-Hold" Time?

Was kept on hold for half an hour 2 weeks ago, was ordering KFC for dinner.

The friggin meal took 1 1/2 hour to reach my home.

45 minutes for Pizza Hut,and 15 minutes trying to explain I wanted that new crust with the sausage (StarBites,I didn't remember,I was out at the time.)I ended up getting a crustless pizza and paid $90 for it.And a bunch of other things that were wrong as well.

And the operator kept breathing into the phone,I couldn't hear half of what she was saying, and with the accent she had,I understood even less.Pizza Hut needs better screening before hiring.

You know the phone bill for the call is going to be around $50 anyway...

Meh. Called on the house phone, so my parents are paying for it ;)

That's the attitude.

I don't call customer support often. The last time I did was to Nintendo, because my DS broke, and I didn't have to wait at all. That brings me to say, I hate when they make you tap out these series of button combinations to reach your desired location. "For ordering press 1...(10 minutes later)...If you wish to hear the menu again, press #!"

$90 here is roughly...$180 US I think.Might have got it backwards,though.

However,it was for a small group (five, and my 2 others who didn't pay),so which each paid $18...Not too bad,but still pissed.

Nah, that would be an absurd, insane amount of $ to pay for pizza. $90 singaporean dollars equal about $60 bucks american. Not that bad of a price for 7 people.

I never thought of it that way. Since I was about 11.. I thought as long as money leaves the family, everyone 'loses' it. It isn't confined to just you personally.

1-800 numbers are free, but assume you got a giant bill for being on the phone for so long.. A bill with $250 service extra comes in the mail next month.. How would your parents not notice that?

It's not like an everyday expense. That's 1 less Nintendo Wii or whatever you wish to buy, wasted on a single phone call.

Well, it's a long/in-depth story I could easily fall into, but it would take a long time to post it, so I am going to shorten it so I don't receive any tl;dr. I don't want to sound abrupt, rude, or bragging, so bare with me on that.

My parents are... 'well off'. My dad founded his company and gets double and even triple digit millionaires to invest in his company. He worked very hard to where he is at now and doesn't care about that type of money randomly disappearing. He gets on our house phone daily and gets in a conference call for 6+ hours with an investor in Japan. Here's an example of what he did just yesterday:

I woke up and went upstairs. We had a Mac set up on our kitchen counter. I asked why we he got one. He said he wanted a calendar upstairs and something to contain my stepmom's recipes for easy access and storage. He got it that morning after randomly thinking we needed one... So, he basically spent $2,000 on a recipe/calendar.

He has 3 Macs in his office when he only uses 1, a macbook, he breaks an iPhone at least once a month and doesn't insure it, gets tired of a car after 3 months, etc.

I doubt he would notice even $1,000 added to his phone bill. Besides, we pay for our own things. That is how I was brought up. If I wanted a Nintendo Wii (God help me if I ever want one :-#) for Christmas, I would have to pay for half of it. I paid for my truck, I pay for my insurance, etc.

Besides, it's his money, not mine. He knew I was on the phone for 7 hours anyways ;)
