Dittos
Life 8 is big fake. No offence, but i feel those concerts of all those stars like we would sell bottles of water to help the victims of the Tsunami. Why would all those stars give a [bleep] about the problems in Africa? It's easy for them, they don't have to do anything, except increasing their popularity to say they care. If they really would care, they wouldn't live in 15 houses, they wouldn't ask monster prices to give a concert, they would visit the region there, and they would give their money to the local inhabitants. Now u might all say, but it's nice they do it don't they? Yes, maybe it is, but again, the only reason that they do it is for their popularity. Bill Gates too, like the 5 billion dollar he gave EVER will reach the local inhabitants, no,no the gouverment of the countrys will put the money in their own pockets. It's a nice inisiative, but for me the only ' star ' who cares about is U2, HE is the one who talked with the pope, HE is the one who doesn't want to come in the media with his fancy houses, i think he's the one who cares... No offence, it's not becouse i'm an huge flamer i'm always so negative, but i find this inisiative nice and very original, but the stars nowadays only care about money and getting richer

But can you argue against the awareness they are creating? It's possible that all those kids who want to be cool are then watching this and maybe realizing what's going on in other parts of the world. Sure, so and so celebrity might not give a rat's [wagon] about Africa, but if 10,000(example) people watch Live 8 just for him/her and get bombarded enough with the message that's trying to be sent then hopefully atleast 1% will go out and do something and that's better then nothing. Mercifull
If youd like to flame about Live8 can you please do so in the relevant thread. This post is NOT about Live8, it is about the MPH march that happened on Saturday. Im not in the mood to argue as ive just got back from an 11 hour bus ride from Edinburgh. I'll make a proper post about how the event went later on Matt Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Mercifull
I uploaded the photos to flickr so you can view them either by going to http://www.dropthedebt.org.uk or using this direct link I saw loads of speakers and some African bands. Eddie Izzard and Jonathon Dimbleby made appearances and spoke for a little while and there was a suprise when Texas came on stage and did a few songs. Overall it was a great day with about 225k of us protesting all wearing white. We made a ring around the city that lasted from about 12noon until 7pm :D Lets hope it proved to the G8 that we wont stand back and listen to promises any more. We want action! Edit: To repond to the person who was on about cancelling the debt. The poorest coun tries have these debts and are constantly trying to pay them back but they cant. The interest keeps getting higher and higher. They have paid off the debts many many times over to the richer countries yet the debt is still there because of the interest. In the UK this is known as Loan Sharking. Its illegal in this country so why is it allowed to go on when its anoyher country paying? Drop the Debt! dusqi
Very cool Matt. I'm also impressed that according to the BBC article, only 1 person was arrested. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one.
Mercifull
There were actually 2 people arrested. One was for a minor drugs offence and the other was unrelated to the rally so it was a great protest. Shame the G8 Alternatives and Wombles couldn't keep their calm like we did when they protested today :( Its so annoying when the anarchists ruin it for all us activists. It brings bad press and its certainly not going to convince the leaders of the G8 to do what we want. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Bubsa
I think though, in this case, that many of the leaders realise these idiots from the real protestors and are more or less discounting them from the protests, which some actually listen to. I think Schroeder is all for listening. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
