Ok, so I downloaded a demo of an old game, that was long gone from the original site that had it, and the place I got it from had a trojan in it.

 

Before I knew that, I ran the exe, and after I ran it, I thought, hey I should scan this, and *after* I ran the exe, I detected the virus.

 

After I ran the exe, and before I detected the virus, it went to the install screen of the demo (like the usual install for a game) and I just exed out of it and scanned it.

 

Anyway, I have kaspersky, which is usually rated in the top two or three virus protection wise, and the trojan was "trojan-proxy.win32.agent.apk" I know there are a lot of varieties of the win.32.agent trojan, but I hadn't heard of apk.

 

Anyway, I think it's just something that would have made my computer part of a botnet.

 

So, right now I am scanning my computer, and have Kaspersky deleted the original file (the exe) and I am hoping that it didn't install anything else just by me opening the exe.

 

 

 

So, my question is, is there anything else I should do. Also, after my scan is done I will say what results there were.

Speaking practically, you've done everything you can do. All you have to do now is to remember to scan BEFORE executing. ;)

What I usually use for downloads automatically scans, and I forgot that the thing i downloaded it with doesn't.

 

 

 

I am pretty sure it didn't actually infect anything, and all the files are still in the [Caution: Executable File], and not everywhere on my pc, but the scan is still running

Since Kaspersky took care of it, it should be good. You could use Pandas (it found a backdoor virus today on my computer, ugh! first one in a year or so) online scanner for a second opinion.

Kasperksy's scan completed when I was at school, not more threats found other than the various copies of the original exe. Also, I read a guide on how to remove it manually, and none of the processes were showing in the task manager, so I think I'm good.

If you haven't scanned in Safe mode, i suggest that. My brother had a Trojan on his computer, don't remember the name. Anyhow i tried deleting it manually: but it automatically came back. Tried Safe Mode, and it could no longer do that.

I've never heard such a thing...

 

 

 

I suggest putting your computer in safe-mode and doing a full on scan with Kasperksy and SpyBot (unless yougot something better, Mr. I can afford the best computer security software ever -.-) I'm almost positive you'll find something, as when virus' trojan's, ect. get downloaded they automatically setup a backdoor, or a file that'll download the virus or trojan again if it's been deleted.

 

 

 

I wouldn't been to worried about data being unsafe, unless you save information like credit cards and bank accounts on your computer, then your just asking to be hacked...

defrag isnt a scan its kinda like a scan but wat it does is removes all files tht are not need like temporary files and sometimes virusis tht hide deep in a file gets deleted

No... Defraging moves data thats on the hard drive closer together causing files/programs to load faster...

I disagree, AVG has gone pretty much downhill, it's not even detecting AntivirusXP 2008, which is a rogue antivirus.

 

 

 

Go for Avira or Avast instead.

Absolutely ensure you're running a firewall.

 

Are you using just KAV (Kaspersky Antivirus) or KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security)? KIS includes a firewall.
