Iukikina
The tip for the Dark Knights castle port should include the lvl requirement to get the def exp. I am lvl 74 def and could not get the exp. I would say you probably need 75 but of course that is not a solid fact. I got a message upon entering that I was not exp enough in the skill so I did not have enough pull - or something close to that. More input required. pokemama
wow interesting! if you could visit again and get a screenie of it that would be awesome!! civie
There is a safespot to chop the logs. 1) Enter the cave. 2) Run to the first root on the southern wall. 3) When the beast starts attacking, head back to the entrance/exit, but do not exit. 4) When the beast doesn't attack you anymore, run through him along the south wall, into a small dent. 5) If done correctly, you only need a bit of food for filling up the firepits and lightning them (though you should run from pit to pit filling 3 of them) Level 99's[hide]Mining level 99 achieved November 2010Smithing level 99 achieved February 2011Fishing level 99 achieved April 2011Cooking level 99 achieved May 2011[/hide]Goals[hide][/hide]Drops:Miscellanious: 1x Draconic Visage , 5x Focus Sight, 3x Abbysal Whip Offering Effigy Assistance in Herblore, Crafting. wierdboy128
This is just a tip for the quest, but in each room you can click on your mini-map while in the cutscenes to get away from the beast without interrupting the scene itself. It's helpful to save some hp as soon as the scene ends.
Iukikina
Ok.. gimp stinks - or rather, I can't figure out how to cut with it so here is a nice big screeny for yah! [hide=proof pic][/hide] Strange message, eh ? [crew]
Sy_Accursed
Your guide lists axe, tinder box, pick axe and spade as required. They are not required as the corpse just inside the cave entrance when looted gives you a spade axe pick and tinder box. It would be wise to bring your own, but they are not required. niccosdad
Something else that might be worth noting about the portal in the Dark Warriors' Fortress is that it is in level 14 wilderness, not level 20 as the quest guide states. Since the portal is so weak that is not visible like many of the others, I thought I might have been in the wrong place when I didn't find a portal there. Perhaps also noting to just stand in the middle of the room then operate Jennica's ring would be helpful for other people like me. As for the first room with the fire pits, what I figured out that works is to just cut the two sets of roots on the west wall of the room. The room shakes a bit when the beast is about to fire at you so you shuttle from one set of roots to the other just as soon as you see the room start to shake. It's a subtle shake, so you could easily miss it if you don't know to look for it. Be careful about trying to take too much advantage of Wierdboy's suggestion to move during the cutscene after you light a fire, for instance. If you light the next fire during the cutscene, it doesn't seem to count as one of your three required fires. So you could end up like me and instead of having all three fires done, you have two done and are left with a very angry beast firing at you every 2 to 3 seconds. Niccosdad
Miner52289
I couldn't help but notice after doing the second room with the beast in Summer's End (the one where you dig holes to catch the dark core) that the strategy written in the guide tells you to run. This is not true. You can, in fact, do this whole part of the quest by walking in a circle around the edges of the room until the dark core comes out. At this point you turn on your run energy to get a little ways away from it, find some soft soil, chillax by it and then use your spade on the soil to catch the dark core. This only works if you are continuously clicking every five or so squares so you keep on the move. Even on the third stage in this room where the beast's attack splits into like 6 different pieces, you'll still avoid all of them. Just pointing it out. Kietaro1
Also you can take willow logs with you to use ont he fire pits in the second room. [Crew edit: did you, specifically and personally, bring logs? Because several people tried several different "dodges" such as you mention, and none of them worked. Please explain what you did.]
Diesel
Another tip is to bring the Explorer Ring from the Lumbridge/Draynor Diaries instead of energy restore potions. It saves space and easily fills the needed energy boosts to complete the quest. Worked quite well for me. : Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew

Iukikina
Ok, my hubby finally did the quest and his def is 79 and he also did not get the def reward and got this same message - so, due to the fact that the other guy that was in there had 80 def it's a strong possibility that the requirement is 80 def. oddfaery2
Great guide! I have a few things I think I would've suggested different strategy on, so I'll post in case it's any use to you. Starting out -- I'd recommend going from bounty hunter instead of castle wars. It's just as easy to find from there and the bank is really convenient. Room 1 -- or perhaps before, I would recommend suggested quests of As a First Resort and Fairy Tale Part II. It makes it much easier to not have to worry about timing energy potions and you can recharge the run fast and get back to the ruins (glory to edge, fairy ring to jungle hunter, run to spa and get run and HP if you want, then use games necklace to get back). -- another alternative is to use spirit terrorbirds. I saw this done by somebody but I have no idea if he tries to eat it once inside the cave. Step 8: As stated above, EMPHASIZE that you want to let the cut-scene finish BEFORE you light the next pyre, or else there will be no effect and you'll have to set it up again. It is MUCH harder to light the third pyre with the beast at full steam. Step 10: The spade can be looted from the corpse or brought with originally. Unless food is really low there shouldn't be a need to bank. I'd say bank if needed instead of making it a standard. Room 2 -- The first two cores seem you suggest standing pretty much still and just dodging attacks. I would either walk or run from one spot of soft soil to the next in a circle around the room the entire time until a core is released. Same for the last spot too, they are far enough out that you can just go from one to the other and not have to stay really near the walls. That'll make digging the hole fast enough easier too. Room 3 -- The guide really lacks strategy and explains what has to be done more than HOW to do it. I'd follow the same kind of strategy as in room 2: Walk the room in circles, watch the grave rotations and attack charges, and when you're close enough to bless the right grave, do so, otherwise keep walking. This is more a test of patience than anything, and if you don't stagger you can easily complete it with eating little to no food. osmend0
Just a very small one - at the bottom under tips and tricks - it says if you loose your Jennica's ring, it can be obtained from the rubble one square east of the portal.. it's actually one square west! Peevo1
There is a stange symbol in the spiritual realm of the ruins east of the demonic ruins, IT IS NOT IN THE NORMAL REALM, Please go there to try to decypher what it means, I will try to get a picture posted ASAP :-k
Game_Freak67
The Dark Warriors' Fortress is actually located in level-15 Wilderness. The wilderness Bandit's Camp is 20. The Ruins portal should actually be specified as "North-west of of Clan Wars, the portal used for the quest" instead of "the Quest start area", as this might confuse some people. (This is more of a fun fact than a correction): Inside the Chaos Altar portal, there's an NPC that will spout off a lot of nonsensical gibberish, but the colors he mentions refers to the three main gods (he uses anagrams for the Gods' names). 1600 Total! WHOO!
