Well, here it is!

~The Complete Guide to Bombing Cabbage~

[hide=I]I: Locating the cabbage

Before you go about your cabbage bombing, you will need, of course, cabbage.

Here are some of the places that you can find cabbage:

1) The Main Patch

mainpatch3.png

Location: SE Falador/NW Draynor

Cabbage: 83 ((7x12)-1)

Nearest Bank: Draynor

Comments: This is the patch the OoC uses to pick cabbage the most. Features include a tree named John, a broken cart, and the Stile.

2) The Lumbridge Patch

Lummypatch2.png

Location: North of Lumbridge

Cabbage: 74 (8x9)-2 (Main Patch) + (5-1) (Extra Strip)

Nearest Bank:Lumbridge

Comments: The old cabbage patch, where the OoC picked in RSC. A plow, a few crows, a Plant, and Bald Spots. We need a cabbage doctor!

3) The Varrok Patch

Varrokpatch2.png

Location: South Varrock, East of the South Gate

Cabbage: 6. Checkered

Nearest Bank: Varrock East

Comments: Looks like a dead body. Or a fish. Depends which way you look at it. It's very very small.

4) The Monastary Patch

Monastarypatch3.png

Location: The Monk's Monastary

Cabbage: 12 (3x4)

Nearest Bank: Edgeville

Comment: Very well looked after by Peaceful Monks. Note the flowers growing around it. Living in luxury.

5) Melzar's Maze Patch

Melzarpatch3.png

Location: East of Meltzar's Maze

Cabbage: 15 (3x5)

Nearest Bank: Falador

Comment: These are the finest warrior cabbages. Waging war with the the vegetable of whose name I cannot speak planted next to them.

6) The Draynor Manor Patch

Draymanorpatch3.png

Location: East Draynor Mansion Ground

Cabbage: No Real cabbage. 7 fakes ((3x2)+1)

Nearest Bank: Draynor

Comments: Evil cabbage. Do not touch. Keep 100 feet away at all times. Rumored to like potatoes. You cannot pick these, as they are respawns. Nightshade, an item used in deadly poisons, may be grown next to them. They do not taste like normal cabbage, and cannot be stacked with them. They are a no-go.

P2P Patches:

1) Taverly Patch

Tavpatch.png

Location: South Taverly

Cabbage: 9 (Random)

Nearest Bank: Falador or Catherby

Comment: Not much here. These cabbages are close to Gunthix, as the druid's worship him.

2) Sinclair Mansion Patch

Sinclairpatch.png

Location: Sinclair Mansion Grounds

Cabbage: 4 (4x1)

Nearest Bank: Seer's Village

Comment: Mystery Solving Cabbages. They Solve mysteries.

3) Edmonds Patch

Edmondpatch.png

Location: Edmond's house in East Ardounge. North of the castle.

Cabbage: 5 (5x1)

Nearest Bank: Ardounge

Comment: In Edmond's Scruffy Back Garden, 5 cabbages lurk next to a hole in the ground.

4) Grail Island Patch

HolyGrailislpatch.png

Location: Grail Island, from The Holy Grail quest.

Cabbage: 31 Cabbages arranged a bit like a 9 or a 6 and its reflection. No solid pattern

Nearest bank: Shilo Village

Comment. You need the magic whistle to get here. Not good for picking really, as the nearest bank is far away. Really random shapes. But these cabbages found the holy grail.

5) Fremmenik Patch

Freminikpatch.png

Location: Relleka

Cabbage: 7 in a line

Nearest bank: Seers

Comment: Don't know how they can stand it. Well they must be able to because they're barbarians. Woo.

6) Miscellania Island Patch

Miscellaniapatch.png

Location: Miscellania Island. Step of the boat and you'll see.

Cabbage: 91. Scarily bundled together.

Nearest Bank: Etceteria (On Miscellania)

Comment: Big. Big. Big in terms of cabbages anyway. Biggest in fact.

Well, those are all the places you can find cabbage, have at it :P.[/hide]

[hide=II]II: Formulating a Plan/bomb preparation

1) Selecting a leader: Every good cabbage bomb needs a leader. His job is to pick the location, make sure the particpants are spread out enough, and giving the final signal to commence the bombing.

2) Find willing participants: To have a cabbage bomb you will obviously need some help in order for the bomb to be effective. I suggest that you have atleast 6 participants in each bombing to avoid looking stupid.

3) Loading up: In order to have a cabbage bomb you will need some cabbage, naturally. Fill up your whole inventory with Cabbage.

4) Select an area to bomb: Select the area you want to bomb in, preferably a crowded place to be noticed and listen to the shock of the onlookers. Places will be listed in Step III.

5) Join your leaders clan chat: Join the leaders clan chat, and inform all those who haven't aswell. This is an essential step because the signal will be given in the clan chat.

6) Listen to the Leader: Once you have arrived an your prefered area, spread out and make sure nobody is too close to you in order to have an effective bomb. Next, wait for the leader to give the signal in the clan chat, Do not go before the signal!

7) Bomb: naturally, the next step would be to bomb. More instructions on how to properly bomb later on in the guide.[/hide]

[hide=III]III: Suggested bombing locations

Here are some great places to bomb your cabbage:

Falador:

faladorpic2pz9.png

Falador is the most common place that is bombed - it's a large city and it's practically next to our patch. Almost always, the center is bombed. Have people go into the buildings, and use the bridge. The park/east bank is also a good place for a scattered bomb as people are always just walking by...

Reload at Main Patch.

Lumbridge:

lummypic2sy1.png

Lumbridge is usually bombed afterwards. The green areas are good areas to bomb. The entrance to the castle is a good spot for a checkered pattern. The 3 main areas of the Lumbridge bomb is the castle, the courtyard, and the village. With enough people, you can get each area. The Cowpen and the Sheep pen can also be great places to bomb, just look out for all the cabbage stealing newbies! In the past we've done larger bombs that included the General Store and the goblin forest.

Reload at Lumbridge Patch.

Varrock:

Varrockpic2.png

Because the city is so immensely big, Varrock isn't usually bombed a whole lot, but still can have some potential. The entrances to Varrock and around the two banks are good places to bomb. Like Falador, if you're bombing the center or the GE, make sure people are located around and inside the buildings.

Draynor:

Draynorpic2.png]

Despite it's size, it has a lot of bombing areas. The major bombing area is at the center, by Diango. Locations at the woodcutters and by the bank are also good places to startle a few passersby.

Reload at Main Patch.

Al-Kharid:

alkharidpic2xv7.png

Al-kharid has many places that are great for huge bombs. The main road going through town is mainly bombed, however big bombs have been done in the mine to the North of the town of Al-Kharid. The area in red is great for drag bombs, which I will cover later.

Edgeville:

edgepic2ju6.png

Edgeville is quite a petite town, but it is still fun to bomb. The good part about Edgeville is that you can bomb pretty much the whole town with enough people ^_^. The close by Monastary is also fun to bomb now and then, being just the perfect size.

Karamja (Musa Point):

Musapointpic2.png

Karamja can be a fun place to bomb, you have the docks, the banana grove, and the General store/Bar area as the focal points. On the P2P side there are the fishing beach and town area to bomb. The downside is that there are no nearby cabbage patches, but hey, you can hang out and get a tan instead ^_^.

Port Sarim:

Portsarimpic1.png

Port Sarim is limited in decent spots to bomb, but it has one big one, the docks. the Jail and Bar are also good fun (and the beer afterwards is just as good :P). And then there is the church for small bombings.

Rimmington:

Rimmypic2.png

Ah, Rimmington, one of my favorite places to bomb. Some of the plusses to Rimmy are that there aren't much people there, and it has that nice big town center to code in cabs! The Rimmy mine is also a classic spot to bomb.

Barbarian Village:

Barbvillage2.png

Barbarian village is small, but this works as an advantage in thsi case as you can practivally bomb the whole town with only about 10 people, if that.

P2P Spots

Taverly/Catherby:

Tavcathpic2.png

Taverly is relatively boring in terms of bombing, but it has the Druid's circle, and the main town area's. Catherby has the famous beach area which is always fun to bomb and confuse all the fisherman :D.

Burthorpe:

Burthorpepic2.png

Burthorpe, always fun to bomb the guilds and the game room. You can also bomb the town area if you so feel fit ^_^.

Ardouge

Ardourgepic1.png

Ardourge obviously has maaaannnyy spots to bomb seeing as it's so large. The town centers, Castle, and zoo are favorites.

Yanille:

Yanillepic2.png

Yanille can always be fun to bomb, not to big, not to small. Favorite spots are the bank, magic guild, and the town area.

Rellekka:

Rellekapic2.png

Rellekka, although a bit barbaric (pun intended), can be quite fun to blanket with cabs. It has plenty of docks and open area's to bomb. It also has a cabbage patch to reload in :)![/hide]

[hide=IV]IV: How to Bomb Cabbage

Bombing can almost be seen as a work of art, everything must smoothly flow together to make it perfect. I know your probably thinking Cant we randomly drop the cabbage wherever? The answer is that you can, and feel free to, but your bomb will look like crap. In this section I will tell you how to properly bomb.

The biggest and most important factor in a successful bomb is spacing. If you dont space out much, your bomb will turn out crappy and just look like a red blob. However, if you do space out nicely, your bomb will turn out pretty good. Look at this Diagram as an example:

bombguide39cw.png

Here are some more examples of cabbage bombs, and what is good and bad about them:

example1gx9.png

Example 1 is an example of a carpet bomb. As you can see, while the minimap is thick with red dots, it covers less than half the minimap, with random sprinkles filling the other half. There were many, many people attending the event (many more than you can tell from the dots) but they didn't spread out at all, causing tons of overlap.

(This bomb wasn't OoC hosted ;) )

example2do8.png

While this bomb covers most of the minimap, the checkered and carpet patterns causes parts of the bomb to look blocky. You can tell were one person's area ended and where another person's started :o

example3pj3.png

An example of how line bombing can be used to wrap furniture.

example4op1.png

Here the bombers spread out a bit too much, causing empty spaces. Maybe the bomb had already begun to dissipate. *shrug*

examples5to8jv6.png

Example 5 shows carpet bombing around the center, and checkered bombing at the top left and some at the bottom. The carpet and traces of line gives the bomb a bit of a hard edge. Lots of people there so there was probably lots of overlap.

Example 6 looks random but I think it's in its later stages and is falling apart. Some empty areas divide different people's areas.

Example 7 has line around the building, carpet starting from house portal going northwest, checkered in the south, empty in the crafting store, random middle and west of it, and sprinkles around the edge.

Example 8 show random and carpet in a closed space.

This Video that I made shows a well spaced bomb (although its only 1 man you get the point):

[hide=V]V: Different types of Cabbage bombs

There are all types of ways that you can bomb cabbage, here are a few types:

1) Random (Standard): The mini-map will have red dots (of cabbage) placed in seemingly random locations. These dots gather around a central point in the bomb. This is the most random and the best looking bomb if everyone is able to execute is properly.

2) Carpet: For the most part the carpet bomb is a bit too organized and looks like a block of cabbage put on the ground in a polygonal fashion using a ruler. This pattern is used most by new bombers, or people who have just decided to join into the bombing during our "campaigns". Try avoiding carpet bombing if it makes the bomb look artificial.

(An exception to this rule is when you are in a tightly packed area, making it difficult to space your cabbage OR when you have so many people bombing that it is impossible not to fill the entire minimap with a solid carpet of cabbage)

3) Line: Like the name says; cabbages placed in lines. Usually used to wrap around obstacles like walls and furniture. (Try to avoid using these if you can)

4) Checkered: The name says it all. Often used in bombs with few people to cover a large open place. This type of bomb is a nice sight to see.

5) Drag: A drag bomb is a fun game to play, that is also a bomb. You perform a drag bomb by getting 5-6 companions (the number doesnt really matter, but I suggest around this amount) and lining up all facing the same direction. Then, make sure it is a long, straight, flat area with no obstructions to get in your way. One person will then say Go! and you will all bomb in a straight line and whoever bombs all his/her cabs first wins!

Here are a few other bombs for you to gander at:

bombexample.png[/hide]

[hide=VI]VI: Problems you may encounter

Any cabbage bombs enemy is the cabbage stealer. These are the people that see your beautiful bomb and decide they ought to destroy it by taking all the cabs (I guess they think theyre cool or something, I dont know).

There are 3 steps you can take to handling this problem:

1)Scream and yell at the person with lots of insults and censor evasions (hard to avoid but not recommended)

2)Ask them why they are doing it. You will most likely get some what they think is to be witty answer such as cuz I can noob, why not?, but I need them, lol, or the infamous cuz im hungry. (not recommended either)

3)Ignoring them. Ignoring them can be a wise and easy solution, although you can talk to them a bit to slow down their process, trading the person also works. (recommended)

You may also getting a lot of other cool people calling you noobs for bombing cabbage, but we all know that their just jealous. Ignoring these types works effectively aswell.

To end this guide I would like to show you all a good quote about cabbage bombing.

Of course, in the end it's not the quality of the bomb that counts, but the amount of fun you have trying to make it as awesome as possible. :)

Well, that ends this guide, I hope that you all found it very useful![/hide]

Sweet, great use of pictures to convey what happens (nice examples ::'), but I would go into more detail about the actual Cabbage Bombing, whether there are any events (OoC does some?), and give some tips and advice on timing etc.

But overall, nice. I seen a few of these before, thought I was going mad. #-o

Well it's fun, good for paties but really you deon't need a guide for it. A mentally [bleep] up kid can pick a digitel cabbage and drop it.

9.5/10

Any kid can fight waterfiends, kill mithrill dragons, or merchant. But not all of them can do it in the most effective way. Thats whats this guide is about.

I've have never seen a so extensive guide, for something so useless

If this is useless, I have no idea what you call entertaining.

Besides that, /10

Excellent guide, more detailed than many guides on here, and it looks like awesome fun!

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

Definitely posting a link to this thread to my clan's forums to suggest as an event.

I might post my pics of me and my friend's old newcomer map bombing at an RoT barrows event. Its the most fun way to call people noobs :P. (That, and trading level 120+ people and putting up a newcomer map and hitting accept, rofl)

But this is a crazy detailed guide. For something done for pure fun to waste time and all, you really put some good work into this.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

  • 3 weeks later...

wow, who knew bombing cabbage could be so complex.

you've obviously grasped the concept very well, infinity/10.

I might even join one of your bombings, do you just do cabbage?
