Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Featured Replies

So my friends parents are crazy.

I'm not sure what it is. but can someone tell me/ tell me how to have them get rid of it?

Whenever she dose anything her parents can somehow see it, Like messages via myspace(both ways so just not a key logger) emails etc. How is this possible? and how can i help them get it so there parents can't basically spy on them anymore lol

Spyware watching the ports and the IPs that are used on that computer.

So how would they fix this so its bye bye?

If you know the piece of spyware software then you could try to remove it. If they are doing this via Looking at the IP addresses and Ports open that can all e done remotely via a switch or router so it is hard to stop that.

Could they just do a system restore back before her parents did it?( or no cuz it has something to do with network and not her computer?)

destroyon2, if you can get us system specs and an HJT log from the affected system, then we might be able to help. Until then, we're in the dark... :-w

BTW, don't forget to use Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D, although, I bet that some ignores are already in place IF there are instances on the computer already. I'd bet that your friends' parents are dangerously computer-savvy.

it's also possible that her parents have installed surveillance software that even captures screen activity every 30 seconds or so and sends it to a website. I came across something like that last year when this girls boyfriend was checking up on her even though they had split up.

In all honesty I'm sure if her parents are smart enough to have this software (crazy or not) they will be smart enough to know when someone removed it.

Exactly, if they suddenly stop getting screenshots/key logs or whatever they get, they're going to notice.

I hate that though, when parents don't even trust their kids enough to let them on the internet without supervision. A bit of simple education about do's and don'ts is easily the better alternative.

is the computer on a home network or is it just the only computer in the house?

if it is on a network make a hijack this log, im not sure if its going to matter but one with the network cable disconnected and one with it connected.

whatever it is your friend's going to need an admin account to remove whatever software it is (if it is any) most likely.

also how do you/your friend know its there?

and finally as said even if you remove it they are going to find out, so if your friends parents are really crazy make sure your friend is ready to get yelled at for removing it, even though it shouldnt be there.

more details would be good to. what OS is your friend using etc

Instead of removing the privacy-intruding software, I say your friend should confront her parents about this. Ask them why they've done this.

Because it sounds like they don't trust her.

I'd never do that to my kids (when/if i get), it's better to talk about internet and educate about it instead of having spyware monitoring activities.

I understand blocking sites with malware/porn etc. But monitoring every single move is a bit too far.

Couldn't it be as simple as .......................... looking at the browser history?

very possible

You and I share matching sentiments on this issue, my fellow Tip.It Forum member. ... Being too invasive is downright wrong.
