Bandos Platebody

Featured Replies

I'm combat level 108, and still using a rune platebody. I'm in desperate need of a armor body upgrade. Is Bandos the best option for me? I'm not uber wealthy, but I can afford Bandos. I should be able to summon Bunyips later this month, so my initial plan of buying Guthans no longer seems like the smartest investment. Any helpful advice?

I would recommend a barrows plate unless you are super wealthy. It has quite a bit more defense and will help more than a small strength and prayer bonus

At your level, use a Barrows platebody and a Verac's skirt. The higher defense will help you far more than +4 strength. This isn't necessarily true when you get into the 120's, but for your level, barrows is definitely the best option. Personally, I'm 116 and I use barrows armor. Barrows is good no matter what level you are.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

If you want a cheaper option then granite is the way to go. That's what I use.

Guthans is definately a higher priority than bandos whether or not you have bunyips. Guthans also conveniently comes with the best plate for melee defense in the game(all 3 barrowsplates are the same).

Or get a torso. It's free, and has pretty good defense, along with a small strength bonus.

He doesn't have the defense level to use a torso efficiently. He's much better off with Barrows.

Also, a torso does not have good defense. :|

Its closer to a addy plate which is definitely not better than rune so why use it

Strength is important in this game, as it can speed up training, hit more efficiently and such. Really, if you're going to buy a Dragon Chain, you might as well cough up a bit more for the strength/prayer/ranged bonus of Bandos. Also, it you plan to get a 99, using strength to your advantage is a good idea, as the time saved could well cover the cost of price drops and such.

While I agree, Barrows for a lot of situations is practical, but Bandos armour seems about right for the price and is great when you don't need to much defense.

hopesolopatriot.jpg

I would agree with you, but considering his combat level, he needs the defense.

Sure, if he was as rich as you. Honestly, the difference is miniscule compared to how much time he will lose from buying the top.

Well, I wasn't given a whole lot. But Guthan's armour seems more sensible I suppose, for this case. And I wasn't exactly telling him what to buy, I was refering to meme79.

Torso although overrated is definitely not junk, yeah it may not be the best defensive plate but with guthans to heal I prefer it over anything else except bandos plate which I just dont feel like spending money on lol. Most people who use bunyips can sacrifice a barrows plate for torso anyways.

People seem to be ignoring the fact that he's 108 combat and needs the extra defense of barrows armor. A torso might be perfectly fine if you have 85+ defense, but at 70-75, it wont cut it.

Hmm, I used a torso when I was 70 def and still preferred it over a barrows plate because I had guthans, still use it too and im only 80 now.

Just looked him up and hes 80 def, not 70-75, dont know where you got that from...

As a player that values my time spent on Runescape, I would consider the need to use guthan's more often as a result of a fighter torso to be a huge detriment. At 80 defense, he needs more defense in order to use guthan's as little as possible. The time spent healing more than offsets the slightly higher hits.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

I dont see why you keep arguing with me lol.

I admitted in my first post that it is in fact overrated I just also said that it wasnt junk, if you want to say im getting hit more I can also say that im hitting higher.

As for guthans being slow, I dont really agree with that. Im always super potted during slayer and unless I get unlucky with the special activating I hit a few 20+ and im back at full health which doesnt slow me down too much since Im healing on the monster im assigned to kill anyways.

I just prefer balancing strength and defense as opposed to having high def with a lower strength bonus. Although after this task of greaters Ill have enough crimsons to get 68 summoning so I wont really need guthans too much anymore lol.

I'm argumentative.

barrow armour are probably the most cost effective armour in the game...yea sure str bonus is important and all but it is also very costly. for the rich go ahead and get zerker rings, fury, bandos etc

but for those who prefer to use their wealth for better purposes like me, it will be an extremely wise decision to choose the next best alternative. take a dfs instead of the new shields and previously i always used a d sq or rune defender. use torag for optimum def > than that of bandos. with a bunyip you shouldn't need guthan if you are only doing slayer tasks. if you plan on dharoking then get the dh plate obviously though...

with the cash saved you can spend on better items such as sup sets and stuff...

maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cooking

life may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?

my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it
