Blue Dragon Speed Hunting (Help?)

Featured Replies

I am not what you would call a very wealthy player, only gaining my first million gp after nearly months of saving. As result I barely have much qualfiable armour fitting for my Combat level of 92+, not even an Abyssal Whip or Dragon platelegs equivalent.

Recently prices have been going down and if I am to obtain anything now is the time. However, as previously noted I am short on gp and have had little luck in gaining the millions that others seem to be earning with ease. Now I have been trying to collect Blue d'hide and Dragon bones, approximately 1000 each, which should net me about 4 Million gp, a fair sum for my needs. However, the process has been slow (Only 40 each collected so far in nearly a week of on and off playing) and the likelyhood of prices driving up once the pvp worlds are active is becoming closer.

So I ask, anyone who can give me suggestions to reach my goal quicker, either through dragons or other methods, that would not burn more holes in my pocket than repair them, would be well recieved. Look me up on the highscores (RSN: Jocana Talor) to get a better idea of my options.

Here is what I have been doing:

(Either at Hero's Guild [Requires world hopping and late hours to gain momentum but safe and relatively quick bank trips] or Ogre Enclave [Not very familiar to the area, lots of competition, long bank trips])

Prayer Melee Option:

-Proselyte Armour

-Explorer Ring

-Amulet of Glory

-Dragon boots and gauntlets

-Antifire Shield (Of course)

-Obsidian Cape

-Dragon Longsword (for Stab) and Dragon Dagger P++ (For Special and Poison)

(Possibly a Super Attack or Strength, though I am not certain if it would be much use)

-Activate Prayer (Protect from Melee usually)

-Use DDagger for poison/Special (Reuse if charged)

-Use DLong with Stab

-Collect Hide and Bones, and Heal if needed (Often once every other battle)

-Repeat until Full

-Bank

-Repeat battle sequence

(Pros: Reduced damage, and easily restored)

(Cons: I end up using more food (Monkfish) then I wish to, Prayer still drains swiftly, Not much damage dealt to Dragon costing more time)

Fully Armed Melee:

Similar to Prayer method except with Rune Platebody and Legs (I could upgrade Granite if reccomended) and Helm of Neitiznot.

(Pros: More Damage given and less recieved)

(Cons: Damage still can accumulate rapidly, prayer, if used, doesn't last very long, still little effect on hastening the hunt)

Cheap Ranging Method:

-Red D-Hide Armour (with Kebbit enhanced vambraces)

-Archer Helm

-Ava's Accumulator

-Snakeskin Boots

-Amulet of Glory

-Explorer Ring (Archer ring, sadly is out of my reach)

-Dorgeshuun Crossbow with lots of Bone bolts (Using Special often)

-Find safespot and fire away, collecting when possible.

(Pros: No damage, fairly cheap, does decent damage to the dragon)

(Cons: Often very little accuracy and slow firing rate)

Non-Monster hunting methods:

-Buy cream and turn it into butter for a decent 400+ gp each. [slow and tedious, half of resources gained must be used to buy more in comparable amounts]

-Mine pure essence with a Full inventory gained every minute. [Requires large amount of essence to be successfull]

-Granite mining [That method flew out the window pretty swiftly]

-Alching "X" [Often changes to prices on the GE move to quickly to make it useful]

-Yew cutting [Very long time to collect, only have a Rune hatchet to boot.]

So if anyone can give me any suggestions; reccomendations for fairly low cost, high benefit upgrades; or alternatives to these above methods it would be great help.

Get 70 agility, it makes it easier if your fighting them in the taverly.

if you decide to use heros methode bring no food only anti fire pots and use the alter above the dragon to heal ur pray and u won't have to worry about food or just hally him and wont need to worry bout pots or food

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

How... helpful.

I'd get your range up to 70, the prices of the items you want will most likely stay low for that long. Then, using black d'hide, rune x-bow, and mith bolts, use a ranging method. I'd reccomend the Ogre Enclave, usually it's fairly easy to find a world where you have one or two dragons to yourself. If not, I'd then use Heroe's Guild. It might be hard to find an empty world, but the banking would be fairly fast. Taverly Dungeon would be crowded, and most likely have the longest banking trip times of all three. Hope this helps, and good luck.

-Concerning Hallying: Would a Rune Halberd suffice? Woefully, I haven't even finished Underground Pass. (Need more agility and free time to do so)

-Concerning lvl70 Ranging: Any tips then to speedily train up to there from lvl 61? Fire Giants aren't quite useful and without a cannon, which I also mean to obtain with this 4 Mil goal, neither are Dagganoths or many other multi attack areas.

I gave a suggestion, just because you think it wont help at all doesn't mean the poster wont consider it an option.

As for your range question, you can get to 70 fairly quickly at yaks, and it wont cost you too much at all.

If you'd prefer to Halberd, a rune hally would suffice. However, I'd reccomend finishing Regicide to get Dragon. Might take too long though beetween Agility training and the quest itself.

From what you say, I'd assume you've finished Biohazard? For good range training, either go there with a Dorgeshuun x-bow, or bronze/iron arrows + an msb, or go to yaks with iron knives. Fast ranging xp in both places, regardless.

Why Blue dragons? Just do Aviansies.

That or green dragons. Both are better options from what I've heard.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

The point is that although I may have the skills to fight such creatures like Aviansies (though I am lacking in some significant areas), I do not have the money or the required armour/weapons/food/etc to do so. That is why I am hunting dragons for decent drops (hides and bones respectively, anything else is a bonus) to earn enough to buy them.

Green dragons though useful have less expensive hides and the best locations are either in a multi-attack spot in the Chaos Tunnels with a Baby black dragon (which I am ill prepared for, and would not be able to stay for long with the equipment I have currently) or the Wildly (Which does not suit very well for quick, and safe profit gathering). Thus Blue Dragons are currently my ideal target.

but green dragons are also much much quicker, you use less food, and if you can use a bull ant/terrorbird, you can last a long time in the wild (lvl 13 north of goblin village) i used to kill them there all the time.

Trust the people here, green dragons are way way quicker it by far makes up for hide value, I'm a lv 83 and i bring 15 tuna which is less then 1.5k food, usualy throw out like 6 or 7 of them but keep with me for saftey the best spot is lv 13 wildt near dark knight castle. Worried about revs dont be only 1 will attack you at your current lv the lv 105 ork and since its only 12 higher you wont need to run far.

1.6k-1.7k is around where green hide are

1.9-2.1 are d bones

11-12 each a trip unless get a rune dagger or kwuarm or ranarr which cost more then hide or bone.

if you find a good server can get 40-50 of each in an hour- an hour and a half

try it if you hate it go back to blues they are slow and higher lv for hardly any better money, dont even drop better rune stuff either....

Have fun hope you find and answer ^^

Pretty much everything has been said about hunting dragons, but if you don't have much time to

play, your best options would be farming herbs, miscellania, merchanting, these make you money

even when you are offline.

I too would recommend switching from blue to green dragons. In my opinion the chaos tunnels are a considerably better choice. They are close to the Edgeville bank, which allows you to quickly drop off your bones and hides. If you attack the dragons near the portal, you can always portal out if the baby black dragons turn on you. You could also team up with someone to defeat the dragons.

If you are doing blues, I recommend the ones by the ogre city. Unless your agility is over 70, they are quicker to get at than wandering through the Taverly Dungeon, past the lesser demons. The exit is quite close to Yanille too.

Ok the fact is, blue drags dont need prayer, and rune armour can easily get past (ALMOST) an inventory of hides and bones with 26 monks.

But just cause 1 item is 500gp more, and noone kills them doesnt mean they're better than greens. Greens may be crowded and in the wild but the wild isnt as dangerous as it seems.

1.5k + 2.1k = 3.6k per kill.

If you're worried about revs take the time to check how many people there are around you that will get pwned by the same your level, try hanging in the middle and bring enough food if paranoid.

Trust me, Ikilled blues alot, bad xp and not as good money as green drags. greens are probably 10 times better anyway. (and no waste on prayer pots either)

And if you're still scared of wildy green drags after i've told you this, go play wow where youdont lose anything if you die.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

you dont lose anything when you die in WoW?

=o.

that fails.

^Apparently not.

Anyway hope my post changed your mind. :)

I dont need a siggy no moar.

get ur range up, its the fastest way to kill blues. at 90 range+void+broad bolts, i can usually kill blues in 4-6 hit.
