TRaining Whip on controlled really viable?

Yes. Because the whip speed is so fast, deals high damage, and is accurate, it will save you time training attack and defense in the future.. Whip on controlled is better than using a Dragon scimitar + Defender or Saradomin Sword for strength, and then whatever else for attack and defense.. And it's also good to have your melee stats somewhat close, to be a balanced warrior.. Strength really is overrated, and once you max it out, you will probably decide to train attack and defense too, so why not?

Yes, the only thing required is patience. I can't stand training all day without getting a single level, so I personally don't use Controlled, but if you don't mind the long pauses in between the leveling then I don't see a problem.

Trust me, its awesome. According to a few quick studies a few friends and I did, you get 0.01 more hp xp per hit you hit >.>, or something like that.

 

 

 

And since whip can only train strength that way, and the whip is the most almighty weapon ever, it's worth it. But like Zierro said, patience is needed.

 

 

 

I gave up that training so I'm gonna have to do monkey madness :x

I thought it was 2xp per hit for all melee, I was wrong. It was 1.33 and still is.

 

 

 

Still did 2 levels of each by it though. Just so slow and I want 100cb fast..ish

Oh, so you arent using a whip currently I see. I think getting your melee to all 70 would be best prior to using a whip. Barrows armour, especially torags or dh body and legs are great for training, you take so little damage. ::'

Isn't it kind of obvious? Look at the stats of whip compared to any other weapon - obviously any training method using nothing but whip would be the best :P

 

 

 

As for the 'slow leveling' people, your getting XP faster then any other way - your going to get your 100 combat or X level the absolute fastest with this.

Yes, the only reason why it doesn't feel that way is because of the long space between each individual level up. However, if you look at the total xp gained by training with whip compared to all other options, it's the best training method in the long-term. Combine whip with slaying with a black mask/slayer helmet and you're up in really high xp rates! :)

Well you seem convinced already, but I'm hesitant to belive that 1/3 of the time that it would take to level evened melee stats from 80 to 90 is the same as leveling defense from 80 to 90 with 90 attack and strength. For the second scenario you would be using a whip for 80 to 90 attack, ss for 80 to 90 strength.

Well a higher attack and strength level will allow you to do damage more quickly, but ahigher defense won't. So shouldn't having the highest possible attack and strength before training defense be the best option? Now I'm not suggesting 99s in both before you start defense training, but that should be faster, although impractical.

Indeed, and if you happen to include in some Super Sets, then the xp gained skyrockets.
