Upgrade gear? (for melee slayer tasks)

Featured Replies

Heres my outfit for most melee tasks:

Is there anything I could upgrade on? I have full guthans, and 12.8ish mill.

Thanks.

And heres my stats if it matters:

Karils, proselyte, verac's skirt, Guthans, Guthan's plate... there is too much to name.

Try checking out my Slayer guide for a few tips as well.

Would I still profit from most tasks if I wore barrows armor as my main gear?

Yes, it's only 330k if you degrading an entire set (helm, plate, legs, and weapon) every 15 hours. I'd hope you can make more than 22k an hour. Most likely you'd only be using the plate and legs though (unless healing with Guthans), but it's still very easily covered.

EDIT: It's cheaper if you have an armor stand in your house, as well.

More like 100k for 15 hours if you only use top and bottom with a decent smithing level.

Ok, thanks for all your help guys.

And nice guide too.

Getting the Barrows gloves from RFD quest would be really good too.

Meh, I hate questing.

Attack and Defense

Stab +12

Slash +12

Crush +12

Magic +6

Range +12

Plus +6 Summoning and +12 Str

Who wouldn't do a couple of quests for that?

Use Guthans Skirt/Body all the time. Just swap in the helm/spear when you need a heal. Saves you 2 inven spaces for loot.

Fury

Barrows Gloves

Warrior or Berserker Ring

I tried berserker ring. I tried warrior ring.

In the end I went back to the cheap RoW because it just gives a better income with slayer.

If you really really can't stand questing, get a Regen Bracelet.. Has an attack, defense, and strength bonus, and doubles your rate of HP recovery.. Like an infinite weak spinner or bunyip. The HP adds up, and has close stats to the rune. Best of all though would be to upgrade to Barrows gloves, and just finish RFD.

I don't notice a difference with a ROW. If I am attacking with crush then I use it, if I use slash then warrior. Bersereker is too expensive for it's bonus.

I use wealth on: (big drops only for the most part, but better rune drops from nechs is worth it imo)

abyssals

dark beasts

Nechs

Abberants - only because I cannon

I use zerker everywhere else (its only 2m, thats like what 1 whip and 1 d boot drop?)

For gear I hate guthans and reccomend against it but if you like it use it. Just wear plate and legs only though. keep spear and helm in inventory

Wealth>life though. And a warrior/zerker is even better for most tasks

Fury is great get one

Dont weard skirt or granite top use guthans instead, or even better verac skirt and prosylte top and pray 5-10% strength during your tasks

Get karils for waterfiends

I think that about covers it, follow kents guide as I agree with it about 98% , and im verrry picky, so its really the best slayer guide there is by far

EDIT: barrows gloves for sure. its worth all the quests easily. If not then yes regen bracelet would be better then rune rfd gloves

I would say barrows gloves, warrior or zerker ring, fighter's torso, and barrows legs or tassets. Also fury >.< They all help =D

Fighter torso for low defence tasks, but a better defence top for higher tasks, such as barrows or bandos chestplate.

Torso in my opinion is better than barrows even in high defence tasks, becaue it provides more strength plus. He could get the b pl8 but he only has 12.8M, and i'd say a couple items is better than one =D And yeah one more thing a firecape is better than a trimmed skillcape =D.

As always, very few Tipiters know how to slay.

Pretty much what Kent said.

How are you gonna beat me if my gear is twice as good as yours? ;)

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

Yet I beat you by several slayer levels.

Slayer is not just about gear

Its also about cannon, Pray, Combat familiars, Managing your tasks for efficiency, and set ups. Lots of things factor in to slaying efficiently.

example purely on gear: but add in a pray factor

Player A) full bandos, whip, dfs

Player B) Verac skirt, prosy top, whip, defender. Uses 10% str pray.

Player b wins in exp hands down

I prefer a Bandos set up with 5-10% instead of prosy/skirt combo. But a pros/skirt combo with piety beats that hands down. a bandos set up with piety wouldnt work and would be way more expensive, losing efficiency in gp/exp ratio.

Alot of players have preference, but gear is not what wins slayer
