famfrit007
sounds like somthing i can mess up pretty easy Honest answer? If you're not careful, then yes, you can possibly kill your PC... I recommend (only if you're too uneasy about handling it yourself) that you take the PC and RAM to a computer technician's shop, and they can probably have you all handled within about 15 minutes flat. That is, if they don't give you the runaround, which is why I'd get up some serious guts and stability of mind instead, if I were you... :| ~D. V. "Be careful, but don't get had..." Devnull I'm going to agree here -- while installing RAM isn't so hard, it can mean the end of a machine if you do it incorrectly. Take it to a smaller computer store, where they're less likely to give you a higher charge on parts and handling. you make me feel like the bad guy here -.- but what they say is probably the best choice if you never had experience with this type of things...cause pc being messed up by your causes would probably cost more than if you take it to a pro you like pudding....me too[hide=More Friend Codes coming soon -.- (some are now included cmon pm me
Bufoman
RAM suggestion for you here :http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1170139&Sku=C13-2920 $20 after rebate. This is of course assuming your slots are compatible... I have looked into this a little for you, apparently there are several different types of this stuff out there, if you get the wrong stuff it won't work. I would suggest you provide us with some more info about your motherboard. Bufoman
That depends. If it is SDRAM he has on his board, non-SDRAM might not work. Also there used to be SIMS... then their is a variety of other little things you might not notice. Dealing with DDR1 is allot trickier than you might at first think (I know from personal experionce). We really need to know allot more about your motherboard and what it is using. Arixe
I'd personally look around at some small computer shops and ask them how much they would charge to upgrade your RAM. Geek Squad or firedog will rip you off, simple as that. They gouge prices big time. Or find a friend with a little knowledge of computers to help you out. If you really want to do it yourself, I'd reccomend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141470 grab a stick or two of that. Pull out your old stick of RAM and pop that in and power up the computer. If all goes well you can shut it down and try sticking in your current stick of 128Mb. It might work or might not. Oh and that RAM was assuming it was a base 2400, not a 2400C or 2400n. And googling "installing RAM" might render some helpful results :D Arixe

OldJoe
If you're looking for a computer for rs, media, surfing, emails etc... You could save a couple of hundreds of bucks by building it yourself, but since it doesn't seem that would be something for you, i'd make a custom pc and then pay a computer store to build it for you (costs maybe 50euros), and you'd still save alot of money and you get more performance. Those HP ones... 60$ for a Nvidia 9300 card... Blah. You can get a HD 4670 for 10 bucks more. im1knight
just shop online for a HP one, they are selling their PC cheap these days.... since you are not doing any heavy gaming, i would recommend this one... it's a pretty low end PC to me, but again, for RS i think it's more than enough, and should be a good update from your old PC. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopp ... 60z_series just click on customize to buy and begin customizing... Quit runescape on Jan 6th of 2008, at level of 115 with around 150M worth of item in bank...however stats still remainsWorld 59, the world i loved~ Now 95% dedicated to playing Microsoft flight simulator http://www.youtube.com/user/im1knightmy youtube channel with many FSX videos i made. please leave a comment if you will

I'm going to go against what you said there. Dell has the same computer with a better processor for $10 less. Dell Dell will be cheaper as long as they have a lower share than HP. Besides, he lives next to a Dell shop, it's quite convenient. The link will bring to you the Insiron 530B, when you customize it, select: Intel® Core2 Duo processor E7300 (3MB L2, 2.66GHz, 1066 FSB) [add $140] $439 If you're willing to spend a little bit more: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 4DIMMs [add $75] ATI Radeon HD 3450 256MB supporting HDMI [add $60] $
im1knight
hm.. things might be different nowdays, but when i brought the computer i'm using, Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 3GB RAM 720GB HD nvidia 8500GT vista home premium well..it's junk now, but the price i brought it was $1150, while Dell cost $1350 for the exact same spec. But again, i guess the Best Buy or Circuit City sell computers for cheaper. At least that's where i brought mine. So if you can go 2 any of those, do it. It's much faster, no need to wait for delivery. but the down side is you can't customize your computer... Oh btw laura, Dell is giving vista home BASIC for that computer, while HP is home premium. and i think that's what made a price difference. Doesn't really matter if you want to install XP yourself, but that's just extra 100 bucks... Circuit City or Best Buy usually sell the computers for a higher price, as they have to make a profit off the computers. There are some exceptions, such as Circuit City because it filed for bankruptcy.

im1knight
ATI Radeon HD is the graphic card, and i think there should be some number that follows..... the more video memory= more scenery files can be loaded faster=better frame rates= less lag However the GPU is more important tho Quit runescape on Jan 6th of 2008, at level of 115 with around 150M worth of item in bank...however stats still remainsWorld 59, the world i loved~ Now 95% dedicated to playing Microsoft flight simulator http://www.youtube.com/user/im1knightmy youtube channel with many FSX videos i made. please leave a comment if you will

Though I also have 6GB of RAM. reformatted my hardrive, reinstalled my os. and i also bought a 1gig stick from dell that says it fits my comp. also my comp has two slots and the guy at dell said i could go up to 2gbs of memory. should i? You should, even if it's a marketing gimmick.
