Gold Charms

Glided

Recommended Posts

While slaying from lv 50 till my lv (78/79 can't remember) I wrote down all charms I gained from every task.. I can say that from slaying most monsters drop many gold charms.. My personal favourites:

-Fire giants at wilderness (ok call me crazy but I love fighting them there: they're very close to each other).

rate: 0.496 (that means about 1 charm every other kill)

-Dagannoths (at light house), not the best charm droppers but because of the speed/cannonability it still very, very fast gold charms.

Rate: 0.294

-Brine rats: easy, lots of other goodies

rate: 0.252

-Dust devils, not particularly good, but many other (crimson) too.. Also they're very easy to fight with a slayer helmet.

rate: 0.127

-Infernal mages, ok I didn't get that task myself, and my data on these is very, very limited but the drop rate is "amazing":

rate: 0.390

Well those are generally "the best": though others might be good too.. Slayer yields me on average most greens, followed by golds btw!

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

The best dropper for gold charms would be Moss Giants. You can find them in quite a lot of places, I was at the island with them. Go to east Ardounge and take the boat to Brimhaven. Walk west and swing the rope to an island with 5 or 6 mossies.

Fire Giants have the highest drop rate according to a guide though, but it's only a little bit higher than that of mossies'. But since they take longer to kill, mossies are probably better.

Here's a good guide with charm drop rates. http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?19,20,471,57525290

Waterfiends, nechs, wyverns, scarabs, ...

There's slot more than the ones you mentioned, and better at that

Don't have the waterfiend cave unlocked (+ I wonder if somebody of his lvl summoning will be efficient there)..

Scarabs I (strangely) haven't been appointed yet.

Nechs, might be "good": but from the data I recieved from a friend they aren't too good:

rate: 0.123

Wyverns are a bit too hard to kill for golds either (killed well over 200), though their crimson drop rate is amazing:

rate: 0.153

rate (crimson): 1.222 (yeah that's on average more than 1 crimson/kill)

Also missed the mutated bloodveld, they have a nice rate (0.5) but I wouldn't go there anyways. (after 300 kills I haven't gotten a single blue charm and the green/crimson rate is around 0.07)

Also, as a general advice: I strongly urge you to wield a ring of wealth. I personally tested it and it DOES increase your charm-drop-rate quite a bit: around 10% increase in charms I get from tasks with this nice ring!

@necro

I also did a few moss-giant tasks: they're actually pretty good, my rate is at: 0.328

And they're cannonable at the pirate's grove island (or whatever that island is called on the way to lunar isle). Might indeed be a very good option! Didn't test it out personally though, but since they have almost double the drop rate as daggs a kill "can" take twice as long: meaning you'll have less "piles" to worry about. - Since that's the biggest problem with lighthouse daggs: if I go cannoning them I never manage to get all charms, simply because there are too many bone-piles to look at.

Also that post is nowhere near "complete" (or even at some point you can call it "usefull"). It's mostly low level monsters..

hell hounds almost always drop a gold charm

[spoiler=click you know you wanna]
Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

What do those numbers mean? Anyways, Nechryaels are extremely good, I personally got 1-60ish when Summoning was first released...

Good days.

My numbers?

A rate of 0.250 means you get on average a 0.250 charm a drop: so on average you get 1 charm every 1/0.25 = 4 kills (that's the average drop frequency). And the percentage is "25%". (silly people who thought up working with percentages..).

But as I said: I only have 1 task (179) to backup my data about nechryaels, that's nowhere near enough to make a good guess.

As for hellhounds: I really wonder why people like them so much: they're "hard" to kill, and their drop "composition" of all type charms is the same as fire giants, but just less drop rate!

I would say the best is Hellhounds as these are more than 1 every other kill. In a task of 176 I got 121 golds. However Hellhounds are hard/slow to kill at lower levels so most people stick to the giants.

Hellhounds and Fire Giants imo are the best gold droppers.

Might as well use %, it's much more commonly used.

But I'm sure that you get a charm much more than .25.

49.81% any, 11.01% gold, 4% green, and 34.02% crimsons, based on 1026 kills.
