  1. Anyone have a rough estimate of how much faster Chaotic Maul is at Waterfiends than compared to Saradomin Sword? Are we talking about 30% faster, or 50%? (For the Ancient Cavern and not Chaos Tunnels)
  2. I don't feel like this is a good competition, as the quickest people to reach 1 M are going to be using luck reliant methods. Sure, it requires some thinking about different methods, but in the end it's a game of luck. Also, don't forget that without items you don't have teleports or familiars initially! Clues are out of the question. You do not have the teleports to move around, or the items required for certain clues. Getting these things would take too long. GE Merching, useless too. You need enough cash for it to make you a lot of money, and anything under 1 M makes you very very slow profit. This coupled with the fact that the item(s) you're reselling have a 4 hour delay. Only way possible would be to buy items like Glories, and recharge them (bypassing the delay) to resell. But it'd still be extremely slow since you can only afford a couple at most. The most probable way of getting 1 M fast would probably be catching Dragon Imps. You'd have to get the nets and jars though, and I have no idea how long that takes without any cash or teleports on you. The fastest way but heavily luck reliant, would be to get a rare monster drop or something similar to that (maybe Minigame rarities). Monsters with rare, valuable drops are often strong, so you'd probably only manage to kill 1 or 2 using some noob weapons and using Prayer. Unless there are weaker monsters with valuable drops of course.
  3. Would be good if they used a deletion system based on If Tutorial Island has been completed, and Your Skill Total. People have haven't finished Tutorial Island could be deleted already after 1 month, I don't see any reason of delaying it to 6. As for the Skill Total part, delete people after 4 months of inactivity if they have less than 300 or something. And once your Skill Total goes over a certain point (like 800), it will never be deleted. Jagex should've used seperate usernames for people a long time ago. One is for logging in purposes only and is kept hidden, while another is displayed publicly to everyone in the game and on the forums. These two cannot be the same. I believe this makes the game "safer", as Jagex puts it, to people without causing any hassle. Also Jagex implemented a suggestion tool when you select usernames which I find quite useful. Sometimes it'll suggest amusing or cool names.
  4. Besides price floors there are also price ceilings on items. For instance, Chaos runes at 137 gp. I think the reason for this is because you can buy infinite amounts of them in rune shops for 140 gp each. As for price floors, it's due to the sellback to stores. Fire runes can actually be sold to rune shops for 10 gp each, but the money you get quickly falls once you've sold a couple hundred. I believe Willows also have an artificial price floor because of a similar thing.
  5. Yup, the bonus is 10% more experience when you cash in 100 zeal points.
  6. The only real advantage of going there is because you can use combat familiars. You need a very high summoning level to make it worthwhile (I went there a couple of times with a Lava Titan). I've always thought someone could gather around high level summoners into a clan chat, then organize trips to the CT place. If it gets popular enough, people could fight on the same world for just 10 - 15 minutes to remove the aggressiveness, then hop to their own worlds. CT Waterfiends clan, anyone? It's a pretty fun place actually. By the way, you might possibly remove the aggressiveness if you stood in the east side of the turoth section. It's very close to the Waterfiends, so they might count as the same area. And I'm sure jumping through a portal (in itself) doesn't reset the aggressiveness. It's only if the other portal you jumped to is far away enough.
  7. The experience isn't worth it for any level and for all skills, including the charms. However, what could become an issue are these leechers that just get in a game and wait out 20 minutes to get points. I do think once the game settles down and less people go there, you could go with your mates and only kill the pyrefiends and jellies the whole 20 minutes (since you get experience) and purposely get a draw or win at the last few minutes. That might be worth it EXP-wise.
  8. Oh man, this is indeed very exciting! :ohnoes:
  9. One thing that must be taken into account is the fact that a lot of people register on phpBB solely for the purpose of asking one or two questions that could pop up when they're using their board system. After that, there's nothing more to it, which means that they don't consider their account important to them. If I ran a phpBB board and something suddenly went wrong, I'd just register on phpBB with a random username and use a very bad password just because I'm only asking one question. Afterwards the account is like trash to me, unless I might have other questions (I could just register another one too). It's also a lot easier remembering things like 123456. Another example is if I want to download a file somewhere, and the site requires me to register. I'd of course choose a bad password for that case. If instead something like people's paypal passwords (or some other passwords that unlock more important things) were published, I'm sure they'd be better even without complexity restrictions. Age group for paypal and phpBB should be quite similar, they aren't used so much by <13 year-olds.
  10. I'm soon approaching 88 summoning, so was wondering how fast you can heal with one. I know there's a delay between the click and the actual healing. To rephrase my question, can you survive healing with the Unicorn if someone constantly hits you for 5 damage a second? I want to know this as I might go GWD after I get 88 summoning.
  11. Yes, it would be useful although the increase would only be marginal. The slight ranged boost you get from them will help, but if I'm not mistaken it doesn't stack with Ranged Potion. In case you wondered about the actual experience, we're talking about around 12k an hour from Geyser Titans (some folks at Truthscape conducted these tests at Black Demons). I'd imagine you could get a bit more while chinning; since you have a lot of monsters on you, the delay in which the titan has to spot a new target will be shorter. So you might manage over 15k an hour. Also, the Wolpertinger seems to give a bit more experience than the titan (14k vs 12k) but they go to magic of course.
  12. Guthans is pretty obsolete there, using it would just cause unnecessary trouble. Restocking on supplies for Waterfiends doesn't take long, since the distance from bank to that place isn't far with Games Necklace. Nothing bad with your setup or stats, but do replace Helm of N with Black Mask. If you can't get hold of an SS or ZS, buy a Verac's Flail (a little over 100k) for killing them. If you keep getting ripped by their magic attack, bring more food instead of prayer potions. You should be able to manage this task in a couple of trips.
  13. Here's how they look like. Image taken from Runescape Wikia
  14. If you right click it, there should be a split option. Though I'm guessing you've already tried that and the game doesn't let you do it in f2p. A method could be dieing with that item, and if it protects over things then get skulled in a PvP world.
  15. Since we're not sure how long it lasted and the circumstances (like delays between clicks), we can look at this another way: The highest we've seen so far is a guy who got 3 mil EXP, and a few close to 2 mil EXP. If those points were traded in for pure cash instead, that amount wouldn't even have reached 10 mil. So it's not as big as we first thought it was.
  16. I highly doubt anyone even got over 20 M cash doing this, let alone anything over 50 M. As said before, you get 6.5k per point. By guessing that this applied to the bug too, the telescope thing and cheering emote will activate every time you spy on a penguin. Meaning you'd probably only get 1 point per 10 seconds (from what I've heard it was the Eagle's Peak penguin). In one hour of clicking non stop you'd get: 6 x 60 x 6500 = 2 340 000 (coins) Though you'd have to cash them in often, since you can only hold 50 points at a time if I'm not mistaken. Unless this bug ran for many hours, you wouldn't get as much to afford a GS. Maybe Bandos. How long did this thing last? But yes, it's very unfair towards honest players that people could just earn EXP like this. Permanently banning these people would seem a bit too harsh, because they were tempted into doing this. A better solution would be a rollback and ban them for a month or something. Yet another big Runescape scandal though.
  17. I don't see the point of teleporting out after getting a nail beast event, because your chance of getting another nail beast event is always the same, even after one. I've gotten two talon beast events in one trek. But you could actually teleport (using ancients) to Canafis if you get a slow unavoidable event such as the bog event. The swamp snake is really only done because you get a lot of cash from it. Using a knife on a dead snake gives 2 - 5 hides, which sell for 2.2k ea on the GE.
  18. I have heard reports of getting 20 an hour taking the longest route and the hardest (weakest) follower. I've myself done some trekking and gotten 60 charms, and as far as I can tell 20 per hour is definitely possible. Taking a weak follower means 5 monsters show up every event (instead of 4 or 3), and the long route means you can evade all combat events (shades, vampires), which you should besides the nail beast and swamp snake ones. Having druid pouches with you isn't necessary, since you won't need much food or any at all (I do fine with 75 defense). For the feeding starving people event, bring a sack of Potatoes (10). Remove 5 from the sack, and feed them. It's not terribly inefficient, since a talon beast charm is equivalent to the exp of 3 crimsons (granite lobster). So getting one technically means 2 crimsons, and that adds up to 40 crimsons an hour plus cash earned from snake hides and rewards.
  19. I got 180k magic experience per 1k bursts and 260 crimson charms, along with 111 gold, 72 greens and 8 blue. I had 79 magic at the start, and bursted with over 100 magic attack bonus. I've based these values off a trip which I bursted 2500 times and used blood burst 97 times (counted them as bursts too).
  20. Yes they do, from what I've heard. Salves increases stats while void increases damage and accuracy, which is why they stack people have said. I doubt the two combined is good, because if you're fighting a monster and can already get 20% increase in attack and strength, the bonuses from a decent strength gear + barrow gloves will do better than void. Yes, Zombie Monkeys in Ape Atoll can give that amount of xp an hour. It's multizone, so for this type of training you need a combat familiar in order to get that much xp.
  21. Buy super energy potions and food to store in your bank, as well as a Games Necklace. Bring 3 or 4 energy potions, food, teleport runes and the required items for the caves. The thing is, your progress is always saved. If you run out of resources after lighting a pyre, teleport, restock and come back. Then you only have 2 more to go, and it'll be easier if you already have 10 of those logs from the last trip. It took me about 5 or 6 trips to complete the whole 3 parts. Just remember that this isn't like the Fight Caves, your progress will be saved even when you teleport out.
  22. Happy birthday to this dude  Very nice and interesting biography you wrote there, and it just shows us how much work and effort he had to lay down in order to create and maintain the game we now call Runescape.
  23. It would cost around 40k in prayer potions, but it depends on your setup and what prayer bonus you have. Then comes the cost of super att and str potions, so the total would be around 50k an hour.
  24. I have one right now, and am planning to sell it soon. It's really only useful if you plan on fighting dragons often, because in most cases the Rune Defender will suffice or even be better, especially if you have Bunyip to help heal. It also depends on your economic situation, if the money from selling the DFS would mean a lot (which it does to most people).
  25. The reason why these went up, and Rune Knives, is because a merchant clan horded dragonstones and rune knives a week ago. They dumped the items, so that's why these items are going down fast now.
