mining help?

I have a f2p pure and i need money. I think i have enough money for training and stuff (100k) but i always like to have money because i feel better about it. and so that i can get lobbs later.

in f2p there rnt much drops so i have tried out 2 methods.

1) catch and cook anchovies ~ thats right anchovies these little fishies cost 160gp ea which isnt bad. problem is that u catch just as many shrimps in ur inventory my fishing level is 29.

2) mining. now with the GE there is really price tags on all the ores. it used to be that only coal was really sellable. now everything is. iron is 90gp ea and that isnt bad considering how fast u can mine it and the xp of it. i just bank them. nice money. even clays cost 100gp. silver ore costs 150gp. and only at level 40 is where the big bucks come in from gold ore.

now my question is which one should i do. i will probably get both up but mining will be higher. the thing is that i believe there is more u can do with fishing. sure u can fish lobbs for 350ea but its far to bank and u fish them slowly. i heard about anchovy pizzas. wat do u do and how much money does it bring?

I would say mining..

Example:

You mine iron ore only, if you sell for 90gp ea, that is 2520gp per load. If you fish anchovies, and lets just say you get 14 in a load, 14 @ 160ea is 2240gp per load. You are garunteed to make more mining, and that is just with iron.

I would stick with mining until you make your desired cash, and then train on fishing.

Mining is a complete pushover, imo. Not worth the effort, and too much clicking. You're better off fishing raws. Though money is better with mining, no one has the patience. Ever see someone with 99 mining who didn't touch granite?

You're right in pointing out granite, but he's asking for cash. Mining better way to get cash, he's not asking for a 99. It may take absolutly ages to get 99 mining any other way than granite, but cash-wise, mining pays off.

i may have p2p stats but i've never trained mining in members using granite...hell i've never trained mining in members >.> for the simple reason that my p2p time is limited and i want to train p2p skills then. i would say go with mining...i've fished and mined a lot as you can see from my levels and if you are after big bucks, 85 mining gives you much bigger bucks than 99 fishing can ever give you. with 85 mining you should be able to mine around 20 rune ores in an hour depending on certain factors which adds up to around 270k per hour...i doubt fishing in f2p will make you that kind of money...but like many have said 85 mining is hard to get....there was once i mined 5k coal at one shot and probably mined close to 10k coal ores to get to 85 as well as power mining iron A LOT...but once u reach 85 u can just mine rune all you want and from 85 to 87 probably 1/5 of the exp came from rune ores lol

maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cooking

life may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?

In f2p maybe, but you're bound to lose patience.

No, YOU'RE bound to lose patience. Not everyone loses patience. There are people out there, in f2p (for the most part), that get 99 mining without granite, usually on coal or iron. Some people in-fact, and this may surprise you, ENJOY the skill of mining. Remember everyones opinion varies. Now I am not picking on you by any means, just pointing out some flaws in your logic.

----

In light of the topic, I would personally go with mining. For reasons previously stated by bob7926. Getting 14 (give or take a couple) anchovies a load is much more time consuming to make a profit with compared to iron. Iron is a consistent means of profit. There are no variables, you mine 28, you bank 28. Repeat.

With anchovies your profit solely depends on the amount of them you catch in a given run, granted it varies from load to load. It may give 14 shrimp and 14 anchovies a load, I wouldn't know, just basing it off of other things such as fly fishing and catching randoms amounts of trout/salmon (etc etc)

With that being said, you also have to take into consideration the time spent cooking what you have caught, where as with mining it is cut and dry. Mine and bank, no variables.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

That is true, I very much respect people who train mining without using granite to 99 or so. Making money off it is mostly a f2p thing, I know plenty of pure f2pers with 99 mining via runite ores.

EDIT: Since mining is more of the click and wait skills, there are a large handful of people who wll find it boring, but another which will find it rewarding. The rest break it with other skills for higher total levels.

It's kinda just a skill you can't buy, but has very profitable rewards if you know hwo to use it right.

MINING.

I'm a big mining guy, and I must say it is a very rewarding skill. Although in F2P the two are just about equal (gold v. lobsters). I can get over 120k an hour with gold at 86 mining. My friend claims he can get over 100k an hour at lobsters, and is over 90 fishing.

I would still say mining since after 85, there is a much bigger reward while after 85 fishing you don't get anything.

The crafting guild, if it is not too popular.

Don't ask me for what I do for fun.

Anyways, what I do for fun (besides RS) is to tear up assignments I get and then try to re-create them. It's so much fun =D.

(I also like differrent things.(and purple ))

im currently mining in karamja. its plentiful and empty but far from bank

7 gold rocks, you need 40 crafting and a brown apron good luck ;)

The crafting guild is usually fairly crowded on busy worlds, but it's gotten better since they got rid of the autoers. Though I wouldn't recommend trying gold until level 50 or so - right at 40 it takes way too long to mine.

And remember - when mining in the crafting guild, ALWAYS craft a load of air runes on your way. It may seem insignificant, but I went on a mining jag once and mined about 4k ores in there, and gained 2 RC levels in the process - and I was around 50 RC at the time. Plus it's a little extra cash, you will make a profit starting at level 33 RC, and 33 RC doesn't take all that long to get.
