Zaaps1
OWNED! \ Where did you take this? :o there was a quest where you go little , and there are some rats ... i supose they drop gold First thing that comes to mind are gods. yey and do we have a coin with jesus , bhuda or allah on it ? At least spell Buddha right? And no we do not. But the Byzantine Empire had coins with images of religious icons on them, including Jesus. The Byzantine Empire lasted from about 500 CE - 1453, when Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Turks. Incidentally, that time period is the time period RuneScape is based on... Even if you look back to Ancient Greece and Rome, they had religious images on their coins also. For example the Owl was on Athenian Coins, which is the symbol of their patron god, Athena. Roman coins also had images of their Emperors on it, which were considered almost gods in their society. Now I don't know much about Indian, Muslim, or Chinese coins. But they also did have coin money, and it stands to reason that they would put images important to them on the coins also, correct? Even if you look today, what do US coins have? Washington, Jefferson, all these important people. What is the difference between Washington and the Roman Emperors being on coins? Only thing is that we don't consider Washington a god, but that is because of an already well-developed religion present in America. So, if Jagex would like to based this off examples given in history and the modern world, they would put important figures on the coins, most likely GODS. ~It's Super Effective! Hajutze
The english is the most fked up language on the earth and I have no intention on learning how to spell someone's name in english , because there are at least 5 ways to spell it right (at least with the same pronunciation). There is diference between the face of an emperor/king etc. and the face of a god ... I knew about the 1st ones , but I didn't imagine a coin with a god on it, thats why I ironicly asked ... well total fail for me I guess (I didn't need the hystorical lesson .. my country fell to the turks aprox 60 years before byzantians ... its hard to forget when 1/2 of the lessons in school are about that =/

There probably IS an alternative way to pronounce "Buddha". If so, I have no seen it yet, my apologies. I also did not know your location nor how you felt about that subject. So sorry if I have offended you in any way. I'm not trying to attack your point in any way, but just to back up my own statement. But more on topic now: In present day, there is a difference between the Emperor/King and that of a god or God. But RuneScape is not based on present day, but the post-Classical Era, and in some places, even before that time. Therefore, it seems logical to me that the RuneScape coins have images which reflect the common belief at the time. So that's why I gave those examples, to prove my point at in the time period RuneScape is based on, there is very little, if any, separation of Religion and Government. So then if Religion = Gods and Government = Distributors of Coins, and in RuneScape there is no boundary between them, then shouldn't the coins have gods on them? Another argument would be kings, since they are very significant also. I agree that might be the case on the RS Coin, but I personally do not believe so, for two reasons. First, historically, the European Rulers generally claimed divine right, which brings us back to them being Religious figures. Second, in a more practical sense, there aren't many important kings in RS who actually DO something. If you take a look at all the quests the main workers are YOU and some other person, but RARELY ANY TYPE OF RULER. Ex. Mourning Ends Part II, it's all you and that elf guy. Therefore, the Kings and rulers play no significant role. Then if you look at the Gods, just about everything is centered around them. You don't have Falador-trimmed rune, but you do have Zamorak-trimmed rune. ~It's Super Effective! Kyle
Haha, there are some really clever replies on here. Made me lol irl. I had no idea there was a quest that made you small and dropped huge coins. The pics on those coins do seem to match with that high def pic from the website. But that would seem to me to be a saradomin symbol on coins. That comes across as a bit unlikely but who knows.... I especially like the posts involving some history into what is typically on coins and then translate that into rs terms. Keep em coming :) Good stuff! Can anyone find a higher res picture of the ingame with the coins from the rats? what quest is that? maybe ill do the quest in HD and try to grab a screenshot. http://www.runehead.com/clans/personal. ... clan=tipit
SwreeTak
A pic of andrew gower :twss: That would be AWESOME :D. If I ever make a game I would definatelly put my face on the coins . Or well, not really, but it was funny anyway :) Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
shade_bandyt
Central bank of Gielenor To me all the banks in the entire world are linked. I can access my same account whether I'm in canifis or yanille so why would there be different symbols for different regions if all the coins are equally accepted everywhere. Banks don't produce coins, only players through alching, shops (and it can be argued that shops make money from players as well), certain npcs (like quest rewards etc) and monsters. So does money dropped by lesser demons in karamja look different from those dropped by lessers in the wildy? That doesn't make sense to me. Then again, its just a game...
