  1. "You wouldn't stand for the disrespect and the belittlement of your accomplishment, and would sooner get your fill somewhere else. " I think the real question is, when you do something in runescape, like gain a difficult level 99, is it really an accomplishment? If it is, how so? Personally, the point in time when my runescape playtime dropped dramatically, was when I realized that if nobody cares, and you didnt enjoy doing it, its no accomplishment at all.
  2. As opposed to what you can do now. Which is absolutely nothing.
  3. Who says Jagex has changed their views? Clearly this is a new and different game, and most likely has different goals for the company. It embraces a new but successful model of micro payments, which some players prefer. As long as they dont change this about runescape I dont see how anyone can fairly say they've changed their stance on this. They are a business and they make games, all of their games do not have to follow the same business model.
  4. I am currently researching this topic personally, with some fairly in depth and careful testing. The results should be released within 24 hours as well as the raw data.
  5. I'm going paintballing in a few hours to some place that uses rubber balls.... I think its going to hurt a lot more but we'll see. Maybe I can grab my camera and post a few shots.
  6. I'm a huge Patriots fan too. I live very close to their home stadium so they are my home team. (Also a Celtics fan) We dont even talk about the 16-1 season. Now that Brady is back and is throwing well again its gonna be a fun season. The sad thing is that football season is so short, the season is pretty much half over already.
  7. Let me clarify something about these devices that the author seemed to misunderstand. They are not USB keys that have to be inserted into the computer. They are similar to USB keys in their size and shape, but have a small LCD screen with a random string of digits that changes periodically. You do not need a computer with a USB port for this device to function properly. As for the security issue, the whole thing is optional. Don't bother with one if you are too irresponsible to keep it safe. You don't HAVE to put it on your key ring. I cant speak for anyone else but I have quite a bit of accumulated value on my account that I'd really rather not lose, as well as some nostalgic items from RSC. If I can make my account more secure by using this new key I'm going to do it. The entire bank space issue seems moot to me. As of now there is really plenty of bank space unless you are a junk collector. Why should anyone care either way whether theres more of it or not? Don't forget that free players were allowed to vote in this poll and we have no idea how many of them voted for the option that included more bank space. *EDIT* These keys have been around at least since 2000, that was when someone showed me one for the first time. He used his as the login for the computers at a radio station. They were not invented for the sole purpose of playing final fantasy.
  8. To be perfectly honest I think graphical updates in runescape are a waste of time. Lets face it, if you play runescape for the graphics you clearly dont get out much to see whats out there in terms of graphics. Runescape is a browser based game which you dont really have to install, meaning there are severe limitations for graphics and it will never really be able to compete in that department. Jagex should realize this and instead of employing all kinds of 3D artists, they should be employing more people to update GAMEPLAY. Thats why people play runescape, the actual gameplay and accomplishments in the game. Not for graphical superiority.
  9. Its funny because I was just thinking how there are about 50,000 other things in rs that could use an update before the hp bar, which nobody seemed to have a problem with before.
  10. I really liked the second article because it was written in a truly scientific way by people who know how to write a scientific paper. As someone who has had to read literally hundreds of scientific papers as part of a masters degree, I can appreciate the effectiveness of papers like these and the efficient organization. Job well done to the contributors of that work.
  11. What a useless Jagex interview. Their policy about keeping future updates a "surprise" makes them talk like politicians. Never answering questions just talking around them. Do they really think it would be so bad to let us in on what they are planning in the future? This was really a pointless read due to the empty answers from Jagex.
  12. I thought "The Journey or the Destination?" was a fantastic article. Quite an intriguing question really. I find myself wondering why I do some of the unpleasant things I do just to see those numbers on the screen slowly rise. Really gets me thinking.... great article.
  13. I got the name Kyle. I think thats pretty good. For whoever asked, there is a Tom and a Jim walking around. I've met them. Along with Jodie and Ashley.
  14. Anyone saying that sample sizes of 100 wont work obviously has no idea of how statistics works. Many people each with samples of 100 will all add up and be exactly the same as if thousands of monsters had been killed.... Personally I have a huge problem with Jagex not just flat out telling us what the drop rates are on certain items. Lots of other MMORPGS do that and I have to say its a much more pleasant experience that way. They could at least give us an idea of the percent increase that ROW gives on certain items. Being in the dark about drops is a frustrating and ridiculous thing. I'll be helping out here in this thread with any slayer monster I get for an amount over 100, which is usually all of them. Kudos to you for taking this challenge on. Make sure you have good organization to display your data and your results. GOOD LUCK!
  15. This article was very well written. However, with no offense to the author intended I found it incredibly boring. What exactly are you saying here? Did you need to write all that just to say that pictures are better than videos? I'd like to see tip.it times articles that are related to issues in the game etc. This one didn't do it for me at all, I felt it a waste of time to read and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.
  16. I'm surprised nobody mentioned what could also be a very big issue concerning the dragon plate: the looks. When dragon full helm was released, not only was it hard to get, but many people really liked the look. The dragon plate looks just plain terrible. There is nothing at all impressive about it. People have come to expect the rarely released dragon parts be fiendish and threatening looking. Ive got to say that the boots, gauntlets, and now the plate have been a big letdown in the looks department. I've seen fan art depicting full dragon that just blows the real dragon plate out of the water. If it looked amazing, I can almost guarantee the price wouldn't have dropped the way it did, and still continues to do. I think we need to start a thread with past drawings people have made of what they think dragon plate will look like. I'm pretty sure all of those look better than the actual plate.
  17. How is the dragon plate obtained? This is the most likely way: If you look on the GE you can see 3 items. 1.Ruined dragon armour lump 2.Ruined dragon armor shard 3.Ruined dragon armor slice The full plate is listed around 30m. These pieces are listed at 9.7m each. Seems logical that all 3 pieces are gained as drops from some new monster, and put together with level 99 smithing.(thank you assist system) Yeah someone posted a picture of all the parts above me somewhere. They dont look like a platebody but the prices add up.
  18. When i type in "mask" on the GE part, a bunch of masks came up, including non tradeable masks. Apparently camel masks are worth 14.2m? Other things like rogue mask was also listed.
  19. Haha, there are some really clever replies on here. Made me lol irl. I had no idea there was a quest that made you small and dropped huge coins. The pics on those coins do seem to match with that high def pic from the website. But that would seem to me to be a saradomin symbol on coins. That comes across as a bit unlikely but who knows.... I especially like the posts involving some history into what is typically on coins and then translate that into rs terms. Keep em coming :) Good stuff! Can anyone find a higher res picture of the ingame with the coins from the rats? what quest is that? maybe ill do the quest in HD and try to grab a screenshot.
  20. No matter what part of the world you play runescape from, you obviously live in a place with coins as part of your currency. These coins were produced at a mint and have designs on them that are intended to prevent counterfeiting and to show some sort of historical significance to the country they are the currency for. Maybe now you can see where I'm going with this. If our characters could examine these coins up close, what would they have on them? Heads of gods? Maybe the King of Varrocks face? The Wise Old Man? Maybe they would have sayings or symbols on them. Where do these coins come from anyway? Is there a mint of runescape? Im very interested to hear what some people think about this and some of the ideas you might have.
  21. Its not really an add on. Its more like a mini portal to the tip.it website. Technically i guess it could be considered an addon because you have to install something though, as opposed to just visiting this site. However jagex really has no way of knowing and tip.it has been around long enough to be trusted, as well as having some very well known people associated with running the site.
  22. I think the most efficient and easy way to increase hit points would be to add items that increase your hit points while wearing them. For example adding a type of plate that increases your hitpoints by 20 while wearing. But you would need to have level 99 hp in order to equip it in the first place.
  23. So what are the rewards for bringing the broom to underground pass and lunar isle? Just giving some mage xp is not really worth the trip for anyone with 99 mage already. Good tip about the cat tho thats pretty sweet.
  24. Sorry youre wrong, magic level does in fact have a huge effect on magic defense and it has been stated by jagex that this is true. It wasnt always like this and I dont remember exactly when it was changed but it was sometime around when rs classic changed to rs2 or when they changed how combat levels were calculated I cant remember which.
  25. In my opinion this article was a waste of space and completely pointless to read. Not much was said at all that hasnt already been said thousands of times. There were no new perspectives offered or even any thought provoking comments. This entire article could easily have been trimmed down to 1 paragraph and did a great job of stating the obvious. No offence to the author, it was very well constructed and flowed nicely but it just didnt say anything. It read like a report someone would write for school.
