November 30, 200817 yr What you could do is make a load of Steel bars, then sell enough to breakeven. With the bars left over, Make steel platebodies or others. This is a slow-medium speed, but it is cheap. I'll try out the above first. And if the prices of steel bars still keep growing higher, I'll keep mine for a few more days until it levels out :D. (And that, ofcourse, will be my first newbie try at merchanting ^^) Thanks for all tip.iters that helped :D oh, sigs can update by themselves now? ^.^
November 30, 200817 yr I got 30-65 in F2P solely on buying iron and coal, smelting and making steel nails. It was a long journey for me, but I stood through it and lived. 8-) I dont need a siggy no moar.
November 30, 200817 yr Smelting steel bars is a good thing to do in F2p and it yeilds a profit. If you mined the coal or iron you could turn it into plates or something and not lose as much making it less of a use of your money. November 30, 200817 yr For someone with 99 smithing you fail =/ Steel plate = 1200 alch 1200~? 5 steel bars = 2500? If you mined your own stuff wouldnt you make nails? I dont need a siggy no moar.
November 30, 200817 yr Nails are 23 each, mutliplied with 15 is 395. And 1 steel bar costs 649. Steel plate alchs for 1200. Nature costs 231 and 5 steel bars are 3470. My advice: Do superheating if you can. It's slow but it saves you tons of money. [404] Signature not found.
November 30, 200817 yr Arent nails the best thing for a F2P to make with stl bars? I dont need a siggy no moar.
November 30, 200817 yr At the moment coal and steel prices are rising so if you are interested in making a profit just sell the steel bars (though it will take a hell lot longer) Woodcutting does not raise your combat level because most people do not play as yew trees.

November 30, 200817 yr I suggest SuperHeating steel until you can get Mith. I believe it is currently profitable to SuperHeat mith, so that should be something to look forward to. I did around 14K bars in a day(or 2?) when I was F2P. Click here to learn the best profit from MTK.

Steel bars are more than that even, itd be around 3,245gp now. He doesnt know too much about smithing despite his level since he did it all with cannonballs. Oh, and I suggest superheating mith like Peter said once you can. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
November 30, 200817 yr Its not too effective in the way of xp, but silver ores and silver bars sell for nearly the exact same, so you don't lose hardly any money that way. Mmyah.

December 1, 200817 yr If you want to primarily focus on smithing, buy all the coal and iron, smith into steel bars, then sell. Use the profit you made to buy iron bars. Smith all the iron bars into iron platebodies and then high alch them all. With this method you will actually gain a bit of money while leveling your smithing skill. The reason for iron is because it has a better cost/xp ratio than steel bars. Even though smithing iron platebodies rather than steel will get you only 2/3 of the xp, iron bars are only a little over 1/3 the price of steel bars.
