December 11, 200817 yr We all know that Twilight is a popular novel and movie about a teenager's romance with a vampire. This book is basically famous because of the hype it received from teenage girls. Personally I didn't like Twilight I believe Tru Blood is much better. Two teenagers meet and fall in love. One is a vampire one is not. The girl (Bella) finds out that Edward is a vampire and still loves him and the rest of the crap you can expect. But not all of us know about the Tru Blood series. I have never read the books but I have heard that they were good. What I do know about is the HBO tv series. Tru Blood is a story about how vampires can finally come out of hiding because of the newly invented synthetic blood mix (Tru Blood). Tru Blood destroys the need for human blood so Vampires can finally come out of hiding. The story takes place in a small town in Louisiana. Bill Compton the vampire comes out of hiding and falls in love with a human named Sookie. They fall in love and get caught in many different situations. In America Tru Blood is Rated TV - MA which pretty much means it is an R rated show for tv. This may be one of the reasons why many teenagers preffer Twilight over Tru Blood. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a series that revolves around a high school female named Buffy, who is the vampire slayer. As the vampire slayer she is given super strength and super speed, but not too super. The series takes place in Sunnydale, California which happens to be over a hellmouth, specifically it is right under the high school. When she first gets there she meets a variety of people from the losers to the popular kids, along with the librarian who is her Watcher (teaches vampire fighting). While fighting vampires she meets a mysterious stranger named Angel who helps her out, which of course causes her to fall in love with him. Angel is vampire who was cursed with getting his soul back, and therefore doesn't kill people anymore. Vampires are a part of the show, but Buffy fights other demons just as often. Angel is a spin-off of Buffy, but is stylized a little differently. Angel kind of has a film-noir type quality and the series is a little more stable, meaning the whole thing was pretty good whereas Buffy had a decent amount of episodes that you just wanted to end. The best episodes of Buffy however beat the best of Angel. Both series have Whedon's style to them, in other words a lot of dry humour and plots you wouldn't expect. thanks indy500fan! :D Post your thoughts and opinions on each and how they compare.

December 11, 200817 yr I've only watched True Blood, and it was ok. Seeing Lizzy Caplan nude might have been a big part of that though... I found about half of the show to be annoying (everything with Tara) and the revealed killer to be a little lame. For vampire TV shows you can't beat Angel, although Buffy is close.

December 11, 200817 yr I really can't understand how Tru Blood has become to popular, or why so many people seem to love it. I watched the 6 first episodes, because I found the idea to be interesting (vampires finally being able to come out and become a somewhat accepted part of society, plus the whole synthetic blood in bottles thing etc.), but it's basically soft porn coupled with terrible acting and a plot that seemed to go absolutely nowhere. Also, Sookie is a really stupid name. How has this show become to popular when shows like Crusoe receive so much hate?
December 11, 200817 yr I find the modern idea of vampires interesting. Nowhere near as cool as back in the ol' days of vampirism, but our society wants a pale, muscley guy who'll seduce some girl then beat up his best friend in the lamest action scenes ever. I don't like romance. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I don't mind either show & watched both when I was younger.. But Angel is by far a more professional & interesting series even though they largely have the same actors. Buffy just seems geared exclusively towards college kids. Angel on the other hand takes a beating every now and then, and actually has to work to get solutions to his problems. True Blood isn't bad, I actually watched the 12 ep's of the first season. The story of Bill the vampire and that girl (Sookie/Sooky?) is pretty interesting... But that guy with a cajun english accent turns out to be some sort of freak. -.- wont spoil it if somebody watches TB
December 12, 200817 yr I don't mind either show & watched both when I was younger.. But Angel is by far a more professional & interesting series even though they largely have the same actors. Buffy just seems geared exclusively towards college kids. Angel on the other hand takes a beating every now and then, and actually has to work to get solutions to his problems. There is too much relationship drama in Buffy which is why I prefer Angel. Stylistically Angel is more appealing too, it's darker and generally more exciting. But Buffy has Angel beat from a film critic standpoint, he did a lot of things with it that you never see on a TV serial. The most popular one is the musical episode of course, but there are others too. He did a silent episode which might be my favourite episode of both series. My second favourite would have to be the Xander viewpoint episode, basically there is an epic battle like you get during season finales but Xander really can't do anything about it and feels useless, so you follow his story while they are in the background barely surviving. Angel overall is a more enjoyable series, but mostly he found something that works and kept with it throughout the whole series.

December 14, 200817 yr Because, would it be as romantic with the vampires replaced with hairy wolfmen instead?
December 14, 200817 yr It wouldn't be as interesting if the vampires weren't all catastrophic Mary Sues and actually did traditional vampire things like sucking blood, impaling folks and feeding villagers to the wolves. That's why I was kind of excited about True Blood at first, it was on a premium channel so they could show any sort of crazy stuff they wanted. We got some nudity but that was about it.
