December 21, 200817 yr paint.net is suppose dot be good but ive never used it. Ive had a program for a while called Graphics Gale which is quite good, its a bit different from paint though. If i ever need to do anything i use photoshop or plain old paint though, so i cant give very good advice.
December 21, 200817 yr GIMP is better than paint.net, as many people say. www.gimp.org +1. GIMP is free, and is as good as many 'pay for' drawing packages out there. "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

Seriously though 80% of the people that pay ridiculous amounts for PS could get on fine with GIMP.
December 21, 200817 yr Photoshop and other Adobe products, and things like QuarkExpress are industry standard. That means people like me who want to go into professional design have to buy these products to experience with, I'd never get employed based off my knowledge of GIMP and Inkscape. For people who just want to practise amateur graphics, these free opensource programmes are fantastic.
