St. George's Cathedral, 1322

Featured Replies

This isn't as good as some of the stuff here, but it's probably one of my best vector images.

St. George's Cathedral. . . It's the epitome of 'haunted,' as most would say. But why on such 'sacred' grounds? If they were so sacred, then I do not think that they would be visited by creatures spawned from Hell itself. I will discover what lay beneath this cathedral, and I shall tell the world before it is too late.

Wow, that's one of the best vectors I have seen on here! Good job!

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I really like it. Good job.

Looks nice, but I think you haven't made use of anchor points with the pentool.

'I am living with vectors' so I can say a bit about your art ;)

Its not that bad. But its easy to see that you did it too fast. You didn't add any details and didn't smooth lines.

Some of my advices:

1. If you have Flash (any) use it for vectors, its best application for vectors.

2. Use gradient effect (its still vector effect).

3. Work a bit on shades and shapes used. This monster is really oryginal, but shades on his body are horrible. He looks like linen bag.

4. Picture in second plan is awsome idea. Just add a bit more detail to it (shape sword, warrior and demon).

5. Use gradient effect on window (or what its name...).

6. Last question. Where is light source?

No matter of my comments, work is really good. Oryginal idea and nicely done! 7/10! If you'll work a bit on it, I'll give 10 ;)

Flash! Hahahahahaha. NO

Get a proper vector program, like Illustrator or Inkscape. Flash is an animator, even if it does smooth lines.

Hahahaha what?! xD

Seriously, as Littleboy said, if you want a proper vector program, use Illustrator or inkscape. But Photoshop is fine if you just want to mess around with the pentool.

About the art.

It's not bad, but in places very very square.

You got the basics down, but your shading needs some practice. Try to start at the edges. Define a lightsource, and start shading from there.

Try and imagine where the light will hit, and where the light will most definitly not hit. Define volume.

Right now you have small little bits of shadow. This piece could be a lot more epic if you used more dramatic lighting and shading.

Also try to get things a bit smoother. Like the painting and the glass window (that's what it is, right?). Get some curves in there. Right now it looks like a rushjob, just like click click click click and here we go, it's a guy.

Okeh :D Meaby only I think Flash is best ;) But I did, I am, and I always think its best! xD

I tried Inkscape, but it sucks. I didn't try Illustrator, yet ;)

But its not thread about my Flash freak xD

It doesn't, you probably just didn't know how to use it. Its interface isn't very user friendly, but it's a powerful application.

Anyway, OT:

I pretty much agree with what DH already said. I quite like the cartoony style, but the shading could indeed use some work. With some refining, it could be a really good piece, but some elements look pretty sloppy right now.

Thanks for all the criticism.

About the back stuff, it's supposed to look like a "rush-job." It's not supposed to be well-done, or defined, as it's not the main focus. I don't know...I kind of liked it like that. I'll work on it though.

The light-source is the fairy in the middle, if it's of any help.

For reference, I used InkScape to make this.

Thanks again!

If you want to make "back stuff" make it same as other, but make it darker.

From what I've heard, vectors should be curvy and smooth. But I say bravo for defying that :P

I really like the style. Not any extra layers of unnecessary shadow or anything. Excellent. the only thing I suggest is working on the person a little more. Her body seems unnaturally lumpy in some areas. Other than that, this is really awesome and I'm glad you took the time to make a vector.

Yea, I fixed her body up in a new vector I made. It's not as good as the first, I don't think (a tad too busy, in my opinion).

Here it is:

That new one looks great man!

Great colours, and I think your style of vector suits it very well.

I would critique on it, but there is nothing to critique 'cause I like it so much <3:

The first one isn't finished yet, of course, but I'm a bit worried about Elizabeth's (the "Wizard") arms...they seem a tad too thin, yet they're the same thickness as the first one. Hmm. No idea.

ozXHe7P.png

Yeah, they look a bit to thin.
