Okay ive just finished two quick signatures and a avatar on GIMP. these are pretty much my first three ive done im jsut seeing if i can get as good as you guys. I know there not very good i jsut would like to know how i could get better +)

No attempt to blend...you should do that. Work on the text as well.

Try a little bit of blending. Duplicate the render layer and Gaussian blur the layer underneath, like a 10px radius and set it to IRR (or IIR I don't remeber... the on with the I and the R :XD: )

They have all been repeatedly raped by JPEG. They all look like they are using the same old technique, too, with no blending. The render was just thrown in. Go onto dA and look for tutorials, or go onto Gimptalk.com (Presuming you have GIMP).

 

And don't use text if you don't have to. It's just a space filler. Sound familiar, LB? ;)

Good start, better than most newbies to graphics I've seen.

 

 

 

First make sure you save as .PNG, not .JPG/.JPEG

 

 

 

The sigs are ok, but you need to add more effects, by using resources like C4D's. Why don't you try learning the path tool to create abstract / random shapes (equivalent to the pentool on PS, right?). Try to make use of textures too, they can add mood to your sig.

 

 

 

I would reccomend experimenting, see what you come up with - I used the same way, I found that I got better as soon as a started it.

Not too bad for your first few signatures.

 

 

 

Like said before, if you're not sure about what kind of text you should add, I wouldn't add any at all. The text you have right now is kind of distracting and just doesn't add anything to the signature. Try to work on your backgrounds too, they're quite blurry and just not interesting and pretty flat looking. Take a look at a few tutorials at for example deviantART and keep practising.

Blargh, I don't like how the render is slightly unfocused, and that there are effects (That orange stuff) running over it. The background is a lot better too :)

The orange bits i can get rid of i did them as an effect to make it look like it was going into it i can easily take off though.

Better, the background aint half-bad. The border, however, is horrible. And thats coming from me, and everyone round here knows me and my borders :roll: . Try to keep to just black, or white.

If you're trying to make it look like it's going in, be more clear about it. Don't add text so that you only then realise what it is about.

 

 

 

Shiny absolutely looves his borders. Listen too him. A simple black/white border that only cover the bottom and top vertically is all you need.

You mean Border?

 

 

 

Use the rectangle thing, and set it to fill. Then apply it to the top or bottom of your sig, however you like it. Then duplicate that layer, flip the new layer vertically, and merge it down. Volla!

I was messing about with the light things etc etc and came up with the first one but i thought id do the original one as well.

 

I swaped the Image to the other side so it didnt cover up the boring part of the background.

 

 

 

Right the feedback i would like is

 

Blending - How does the render and the actully background go together.

I like the top one better because the background seems better, see the upper right corner. Also I think the render goes better with the bg on the top sig.

 

 

 

You're still not blending reall well, you've got the colors down but the render's not 'meshing' quite as well as it could be:
