Splashes are fascinating.

All of these look pretty good, but #3 and 4 are definitely my favourites. They seem more interesting than the others, and I like how #3 looks a bit like a flower. :P

Thank you :) I agree that they can start to look pretty plain/repetitive after a while. They start to look more interesting if you do splash collisions (time it so that two drops hit each other). It's really hard to do though :( So I'll have to practice A LOT.

1, 4, and 6 looks best.

Great focus, and you've captured them all at the right time. Some great colours too.

Looking good, again

Some things for you to try out:

Try to position your camera until its just not completely horizontal to the water.

These photos are all moderately high from the water, this results in a busy background that takes the serenity (wrong spelling, I know) away.

I dont know the situation in your softbox, but I think you should be able to get a white background from that.

(Using your new flash might help too, to freeze the water or to flash outside of your softbox for a diffused light)

Take a look at this one, its pretty much the 'perfect splash photo' and this is the kind of position I mean:

This is an interesting website too, about the history of splash photography:

(Think of the photographers that used film :ohnoes: , hundreds of shots with just a few good ones.. that should have cost them alot of money)

^Is it just me or does it look like there's a woman on that pic? The bit at the top that's black with face-like properties...

Anyway, nice pics Tripsis! I like that 3 looks like a flower. And 4 reminds me of that Budweiser 'King of Beers' advert for some reason :XD:

Thank you for your suggestion woopidoo :) I will try it out. I have also been wanting to experiment with food colouring, which is used in the photo that you provided. And I see the woman too, plugpoint!

Thank you for the comments everyone :) I enjoy hearing which are your favourites!

Tripis, your drop Photography is simply amazing. 8-)

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
