The only upside for it is the mage defense at places such as bandos, barrows, waterfiends. I also do slay alot, so is the leathertop so much better than the black d'hide? For any other magic based slayer monster, Dhide is fine. Well, it depends on what familiars, prayers, and equipment you choose to use. But for the most part, yeah. I can't remember any other Slayer task... I bought mine for 150k :XD: If you have to extra cash, buy it. But it's definetely not required.
