flying_death_bombs55
I recently purchased the Orange Box from Steam, and when I try to play one of the games (half life 2, portal, TF2) my computer freezes and it says my driver has recovered. I just updated my driver, which one of my friends said I should do, but it hasn't made a bit of difference apparently. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. If any other details are needed I will try to put them up. Note: it is only these games, any other online games (Runescape, SL, etc) work perfectly. When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" Your computer needs drivers for every single piece of hardware it uses (Keyboard mouse screen graphics card hard drive network card sound card CD/DVD drive speakers...) so just saying "The driver" isn't really specific enough. Dracion1
Assuming you're on about your graphics driver, try re-downloading and reinstalling it. It'd also be useful to know the rest of your computer's specs. "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move." flying_death_bombs55
I bought the orange box from the store(best buy) and I don't know my computers specs or anything technical really. :twss: When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" Dracion1
Easiest way to find out specs is to go start run and type 'dxdiag'. "In the beginning, the universe was created. SPMc
Surprised no one has mentioned this. Go here Select the orange box from the list, install the addon and done, shows you if it will run on your computer. Previous "fatbill" till I lost the password. Dracion1
I find system requirement labs is often inaccurate. For example it says my computer will only just run Red Alert 3, when in actually fact it runs it fine on highest with a decent framerate. "In the beginning, the universe was created. Don't see it on that list, and I don't know how to check my graphics card in the DxDiag thing. Edit: also that site froze on me. :twss: When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" Nadril
Your video card doesn't even support the orange box. Probably should have read the minimum requirements before spending $50.

So new question, where can I get a better graphics card, and how to put it in my computer. Should spend $30 more and get a 9600GS. The 9600 series cards are amazing for the price. I bought my 9600GT for $140 back in July and I can say it's worth every penny since the price dropped. Dracion1
This is a PC and not a laptop right? Might be worth checking how many watts your PSU gives. If it's a prebuilt it will probably only just cover what's inside the PC, a lot of the newer cards can be quite power hungry which is a problem if you want to upgrade. Other than that, a 9600GT will do fine for source engine (orange box) games. "In the beginning, the universe was created.
