Star11
I really didn't like farming until just a couple of days ago when I read a guide for low level farmers, sadly the author of the guide was preaching how farming was a really money making skill if you just have a little bit of patience and responsibility not to forget about your crops. Reading a little more into the guide the author was going deep into depth about certain things (some stuff I already knew) and could only post so much before he would have to get off and wait for the next day, reading further on I discovered that he never finished the guide, leaving me rather confused. :wall: I understand how to do everything (and if I don't I know where to learn, Tip.It) however I'm not familar with the methods that are being used, like for a lvl 27 farmer like myself, I'm planting low level things (I think Tomatoes cause those are the seeds I had in the bank, Marigolds (same, they were in bank), and the Highest lvl herb I can plant, I'm planting at Catherby, Using the Ectophial and teleporting to that patch, and South of Fally (teleporting by glory to draynor), and the spot above Ardy. What should I do until I can get to a point in time where I can really start making some money, and then what do I do, and if farming isn't as a skill worth investing 15-20 min. into every hour, what's a good way to at least lvl 50? Frostysib
IMO farming is just another dull, yet annoyingly useful skill. If you're just looking for some simple advice with leveling up the skill, then train it in small bits day by day as best you can - planting the best seeds you can as you go. It's hardly a skill you can 'rush' afterall. But obviously the more you plant, the faster you gain exp. Myself I mainly just do periodic herb planting rounds, as plant trees whenever I happen to get seeds. As for money, growing willow trees and harvesting willow branches is good for money - and of course ranarr and snapdragon farming. Kupo!
asianboy7o7
use super compost on all patches before planting allotments:sweetcorn flower:marigold herb:harlander switch to ranarr at 32 trees:when you get to 30 willows fruit trees:apple and bananas these are so cheap when i get these from mtk i just drop them -.-
ugafan_2009
Really, plant the highest fruit trees and normal trees you can and go check after like a day. At your level, you'll probably get 8 levels just from one round. At 32, start planting ranarrs and the money will flow in. If you make a couple rounds a day you will really profit. ChrisxImtx
To be honest if you don't want to waste your money don't plant fruit trees or regular trees unless it's willow. Now if you have the money and don't care about throwing it away then plant your best fruit trees and the highest tree you can except yews since they're payments cost way too much. Now to make money I suggest only doing limproots(Flowers) Rannars at 32 and snapdragon at 62. You can also make them into potions for extra Herblore levels and still make that profit you're after. Also plant willows a long with these two and sell the branches for more profit. It's quite fast also since you can do both the flowers and herb runs every hour and 15 minutes which is actually faster than doing those plus trees and fruit trees. Acorns are what, 3k? A full round of acorns will get him several levels. Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651

Yes acorns will get some levels but that only lasts so long. At higher levels you're going to be planting a lot of trees just for one level, in other words not even worth it. So at those levels higher trees are required to get more experience faster and since those trees cost a lot you're going to be wasting money. The profit way gets you more experience overall faster with the money you need to rebuy what you need and more.

Orange trees are profitable, and curry trees are only a small loss. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Okay well my statement changed, plant fruit trees if they're profitable. And curry is a small loss but it also takes a lot of them for that experience. One again I am speaking from the higher levels of Farming so don't listen to me unless you're planning on going for a high level.
cat666
Idea is to plant herbs and marigolds. Ranarr, Toadflax and Snapdragons being the best. Trust the Gene Genie!
Bashful
Orange trees are profitable, and curry trees are only a small loss. how are they profitable? pick and fruits and sell them? or should i pick enough to make a profit then plant the next seed? game_proffy
About the herb growing... Ranarr seeds cost around 25k-ish, snapdragon seeds cost 35k-ish, while the respective herbs cost 20-25% of the seed cost. That means that to BREAK EVEN you have to grow on average 4-5 herbs per seed. Of course, more to profit. Now, there is supercompost and the Trollheim herb patch, but the herbs still die. The only herb I think you can really profit with is Toadflax, but even then, the income per hour is ridiculously low (50-60k/h I think). So, how exactly do you profit with herb farming? transcript80
Most skills COST money to level, here you earn money (quite some) and gain xp. Also, a farming run is like 10 minutes, not an hour, so the money per hour is probably higher. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
