This is an awesome work nad. The rocks and the textures now finaly work nicely together achieving a great level of realism you never reached before. I guess mastering those new tools made the difference. Great job.

Only thing i personaly don't like is the athmosphere. It looks like a dusty cloud or dirty fog..., but the landscape suggests some high mountains with no vegetation or streams...so the fog has to be discarded. The remaining option is a low cloud. Now i think it would probably look way better to have a standard mountain cloud, may it be a dark, water filled one, or a bright cold as hell one. Just i'd go for some more white-blue look other than yellowish.

Another thing that i realized is that the shape of the mountains, compared to the level the green herb-like st0f (sorry can't remember the english for it) reaches makes them look very tiny. Now i don't realy know of any kind of rock that gets sooooooooo sharply eroded in the small... If everything was bigger you could consider those as mountain tops...but due to the green layer prob i spotted above it somehow looks impossible. I hope you get what i mean. Just consider the above as a tiny note you could possibly skip since the image works well on its own. But i hope that still can help you in your works.

Again great job :)

Thanks jep.

Yeah, I must say the terrain isn't something you'd see on earth. Infact, when I first was looking around trying to get a camera angle for it I thought I wouldn't be able to do, its a funky terrain :P

I'm still learning a ton about how the program works. I've focused so much on purly surface maps (aka why my last few ones have had a more-simple atmosphere) and now it's time to try and learn as much as I can about atmospheres. My next few pieces I hope will combine the surface map tricks i've learned in the past few weeks and add on some nice atmospheres.

Thanks for the comments jeppoz, i'll keep them in mind.

I'm not sure I agree with the atmosphere for that type of mountain... It looks real rocky and jagged something about it is fishy; although I must admit I do not know what.

Think of it like this, if you tried to your bread with a teaspoon of jelly, it's going to be missing some spots and poorly concentrated. If you get more jelly, you have more to spead, and you increase the amount on the bread and its concentration. The same is true here. By increasing your tiles you increase your detail, and will get a much better looking surface. Just becareful of overlaps.

Your surfaces are getting alot better, but your composition on this one sucks.

Good analogy there keiph.

I do agree, the composition was probaly just in the back of my mind the whole time. I've been kind of splitting these pieces apart latly, just working on different stuff. This one I realy liked the surface.

Thanks for the help. I'll remember more about how stuff works next time for an atmosphere/terrain combo :)

Good to see that nothing much has changed and that you still use terragen. Very nice work as usual =)

(I never got the hang of terragen with the landscape part -_-)
