_k0m0d0_
Maybe if you re-install it, maybe they reset the settings.

Aldeon
Maybe if you re-install it, maybe they reset the settings. yea but that means searching through thousands of cd's, i rather not have to do that
c4
Possibly it isn't Photoshops problem; ive heard of this happening when the computers capture settings are accidently changed. Try downloading a small program called "Howie's Quick Screen Capture". (Best bet by googling). Take a capture and import it into Photoshop. If the colors are still messed, make sure you check to make sure you dont have any extra color layers added by default under channels in the 'Layer Window'. Like Komodo recomended, if it still is messing up you may have to re-install. Also might try opening the picture in MS Paint (or a Mac equivalent if thats what system you run). If the picture is still messed up it could be an Operating System problem or a graphics driver problem. Make sure you have your most recent graphics drivers if you are using an accelerator card (ie: GeForce, ATI Radeon). C4 -(Good luck mate)
Aldeon
its not just that but hmm example time i create a new image rgb 16 bit color i do a lil bit of this lil bit of that at try to save as jpeg or whatever img or save for web the brightness increases and its not what i had planned it to turn out (it should be the same as in photoshop) in other programs such as mspaint its fine but imageready and ps nope it goes bad i paste a screen capture it goes dark save as an image file it will go light and be just fine but not look right in photoshop and so i cant edit images properly with incorrect colors, cant find adobe gamma in the control panel nvm found adobe gamma but all comments and suggestions are appreciated
apinagez
This happened to me two weeks ago. All the colors were mixed with an strange tan tone, instead of being mixed with white. I worked on it for like 2 hours to try to retrieve normal colors, but i had to reinstall :( ^The most disturbing signature on Tip.it^Last.fm|HELLY KAYLA!|Oh the mehagurtz!|#Siencemakers"they care less about their spelling mistakes then I." - Lionheart"apinagez... let me

Aldeon
New Problem I'm full of them. Like i said i prefer any other comments than reinstall, because come to my house and look in my attic/storage closet. You'll see hundreds probably thousands of cds piled up in a somewhat organized way but got torn down. Since when im done with a cd i usaully toss it in there (lol). And somewhere in the haystack is a needle, and that would be photoshop. So...... well my problem is sometimes some of my filters disappear, some dont like blur, noise, sharpen, other. . even when i create a new document they disappear.....sometimes.......but when i open previous work i have done they come back. So is there something i accidentaly change or do to make them disappear like that. It has to be because recently PS has been -beeeeeeeepp- up lately.....hehe...... Thanks for all the help.....since im not in the technical field of photshop, just artistic :D

Aldeon
no I bought it, or actually my mom did. I am firmly opposed to piracy (spelling?). It's just recently wiht my comp getting virus (dont think this had anything do with it), i just feel cursed. I also notice that if i change the preset when creating a new document to default everything works fine. If i have too ill just reinstall, but i woudl really like for someone who knows about this to help me without re-installing.

Now please no-one post something like this or as pointless, I'd rather not have this locked. Thank-you. Still waiting for suggestions. I mean i need the the filters for some images that won't work (the ones i dont neeed it works, Thats murphy's law for ya). For now i just have to copy, create a new document that will let me use filters and paste. And presto, change it how i need and paste it back, but this is a lot harder, more time consuming, and very annoying. So still looking for a solution or hypothesis to the problem. :D

Alduron
I believe if you reset your preferences by holding down Shift+Alt+Ctrl. And of course on the Mac with Shift+Option+Command on startup it will take care of your issues. If this does not work you can try resetting them as follows: Delete the preference file and restart Photoshop. They can be found: Windows 98: Windows\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\6.0\Adobe Photoshop 6 Settings Mac: They are in the Adobe folder in System. If that does not clear up your problem I would suggest contacting Adobe for help. EDIT: I forgot to mention that when you use different image modes some filters are not available ie all filters are available for RGB however not all are available when you use CMYK that is most likely your filter problem. Good Luck
Aldeon
sounds like that might work quickly rushes off with his newfound knowledge still just incase it doesn't work keep posting whatever solutions you come up with EDIT I HAVE DISCOVERED THE SOLUTION - MUAHAHHAAHAHHAHHAA ok ill shut up now yea thinking about different color modes (ex. cmyk shuts of some filters) well i had it on rgb dont color manage but.......it was on 16 bit.....changed to 8....and vola it works. Which probably explain why setting it to default preset fixed it. THANKS FOR THE HELP
Alduron
Not sure if you caught my edit...before you go insane trying to figure out the filter problem see if it does it only in certain modes. EDIT: I forgot to mention that when you use different image modes some filters are not available ie all filters are available for RGB however not all are available when you use CMYK that is most likely your filter problem.
