DJChubbz
I just got my first task of 173 WaterFiends and I have never killed them before. Are there any tips or recommended gear I should take? Thanks PS- I'm kinda poor so if there is a cheaper substitution please mention it.

Did my first a couple of days ago This guild helped me alot viewtopic.php?f=180&t=747696&hilit=WATERFIENDS Bring Magic defense amour So like Karils or if your cheap black dhide Bring a crush weapon Zammy spear is the cheapest it goes for 1.2m you will need some prayer pots about 8 If u have a bunyip or higher summoing bring two bunyip pouches and about 50 swallow hole scrolls Finally pray range when fighting them Refer to the guild for more intel stuff
ladycai
Black d'hide, pray range and wield verac's flail (decent crush + prayer bonus), use a black mask, dragon boots (if you have, climbing instead - attack > defense) a glory, and maybe a cape with a prayer boost. Since you can't use a healing familiar, I'd advise you to use monkfish, lobsters in the worst case scenario. Bring 5-8 prayer potions, a super set, and rest of your inv food w/ a 1 click tele. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
zotto
Zamorakian spear (select crush attack) - fast as whip, yet crush attack available) (I keep SGS in inventory for special). Karils (magic defense) Slayer helmet Pray range protect. Games necklace in inventory - for teleporting to bounty hunter bank and to barbarian outpost for waterfiends. I use bunyip, but apparently you can't. So go with the previous poster's advice and take food and prayer pots. Not sure how long you can last with that. They hit reasonably hard and regularly. They occasionally drop a cooked shark, but not that often. They do drop uncooked lobbies and sharks as well, but you can't eat those without a bunyip and a scroll, and the required cooking level. :( Very decent drops though. You always make a nice profit. And lots of crimsons.
Mercifull
You can still use a healing familiar, just not the Bunyip. You can use the, less good but better than nothing, Void Spinner which heals 1hp every 15 seconds. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. cat666
I can't see your stats from behind this firewall but the general advice is: Wear Karils Use a crush weapon, Sara Sword is the best if you have it, if not Zammy Spear is the cheapest alternative (or you could lend) 68 summoning makes this a lot easier. The fiends drop raw fish so Swallow Whole scrolls prolong trips even more. Range prayer is best. If you have highish stats (90+ def) then you can tank without prayer for 30-40% of the task saving prayer pots. Kill them in the Ancient Cavern. As you enter flick on MAGE prayer and run South West then change to RANGE. Mage prayer reduces the Brutal Greens Firebreath should they attack you (you can bring an anti-dragon shield but it's hardly worth it for little damage you will take if he attacks, and then hits with mage prayer on, I've been hit twice in a fair few runs.) Kasalisk
I too was wondering about killing Waterfiends but correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be easier to pray mage with a good range defence? Wouldn't this work because it is much easier to get a higher range defense then magic? There's most likely something wrong with having range defence and praying mage because I've never heard of anyone doing that but I never knew why.. There's most likely something wrong with having range defence and praying mage because I've never heard of anyone doing that but I never knew why.. With full bandos, guthan's/torag's helm, and full crystal shield (which will give you like 400 range defence and 20 mage defence) you'd still be better off praying range. Their range attack is infinitely more powerful than their mage. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
