It's a sht way to make money now.

Anyone who says different, is an f-ing noob.

Rune rose nearly 100% a few months ago. It's like 16k now after dropping a little. A year ago, I'd be lucky to get my rune ore sold off at 11k.

How can you say rune is worthless? It can match double nats for cash, and you can half-afk it.

i didnt say rune is worthless, noob. You have to take damn long in f2p to get to that lvl. P2p noobs, go train using f2p areas and stuff from lvl 1 mining to 85 and see. itll take years if you play 1/2 h per day.

I like mining but it is just too boring and slow compared to wcing and fishing. wcing you can get almost an inventory of logs from a tree and fishing even about 1+ inventory of fish from a spot before it moves.

that's classic, noob, now its RS2. So shut up, you're the one talking bs.

P.S. im not the author noobs so dont say i am.

Mining is boring like hell. REASON:only one ore per rock. FULL STOP. PERIOD.

Speed of doing something is actually a factor that reduces boredom, and that is why wcing and fishing actually seem easier to train(in fact they ARE easier to train).

Ha. You can almost use that argument for anything. Observe.

WCing is boring like hell. REASON:you sit there and fight others for logs, thereby only getting a couple of logs. FULL STOP. PERIOD.

Fishing is boring like hell. REASON:you have to wait FOREVER to get fish!!! FULL STOP. PERIOD.

Cooking is boring like hell. REASON:you take your raw meat and cook it, with a somewhat large percentage of burning it. FULL STOP. PERIOD.

Smithing is boring like hell. REASON:you have to wait for your character to create the bars and armor, and when you do...FULL STOP. PERIOD.

Thieving is boring like hell. REASON:only one item per pickpocket, and you might get caught! FULL STOP. PERIOD.

Prayer is boring like hell. REASON:only one set of bones are buried per one click. FULL ST--Oh wait, in this case EMPTY STOP, REFILL. PERIOD.

Kinda a dumb argument. The point is that you have to work, no matter what skill you do, and each one will become tedious and boring. It's just up to the player to overcome the boredom and try to outlast it. Fishing Wcing aren't easy, in terms of money making. Fishing takes forever to catch one fish [at times], and Wcing is always competition unless you are at the level at Magic Logs, which is barely competition.

I used to mine gold for a bit of cash in f2p but it became to boring, so i just took out the cash i earned from mining gold and bought a huge bunch of iron and coal ore and smith. Smithing to earn money...FASTER than mining?!?!?!?!?!? Smithing was supposed to be a money wasting skill...WHAT THE HELL...

What? You sold your gold, then bought tin and copper and made money. In your case, Smithing was profitable because you gathered the materials yourself, you didn't spend any money... #-o

I love to mine. It always relaxes me, and I meet a lot of new people when I'm mining, have nice conversations...Its very interesting to say the least. :D

thats the people you talk to that are interesting, not the mining itself.

i met a lot of rude noobs while mining...so mining=boring?

you dont take forever to get fish/logs, it is very fast. And cooking/smithing were supposed to be boring skills just to flaunt the amount of money you put in to get the skillcape.

Mining is at the same lvl as wcing and fishing, so i dont see why mining only has one ore per rock.

P.S. dont tell me runite ore sells for .... price, it takes to long to get to that lvl.

Yeah right. either you:

-didn't train from lvl 1

-are a nerd who plays 10h per day

-have a bot

Serious question: What are you mining? Powermining in f2p means mining and dropping iron, which is fast. Not as fast as powermining granite, but it's still pretty decent.

Also, lrn2flame.

You, my friend, are wrong. I started on my account 7 days ago, and I'm already at 68 mining and I've made a grand total of about 7 mil, and I currently have 3.5mil. Mining got me every dime I've got, and it is without a doubt the most profitable F2P skill there is.

"the most profitable f2p skill there is"

Well, grats on being the tallest person in a room full of......people who aren't tall?

Sounds kind of like "Dragon is the best non-degradeable armor."

When you take away the f2p element, mining isn't so impressive. In members you could make around 7 million in about 12 hours. And anyway, it may be a little good for f2p, but you really don't need much money in f2p. About 400k and you have the best equipment you can get in terms of stats.

But Dragon ISN'T the best non-degradable armor. By a long shot, actually, so your comparison is invalid. It's more like saying mining is the best money maker in f2p, and ONE of the best money makers in p2p. In fact, if you like making upwards of 800k-1000k per hour with little to no work, mining just might be what you're looking for. This is excluding merching, of course.

What was your argument again?

well, you didn't actually adress it, and you made up a nonsensical figure for rune profit. I'll let you look for it.

If you didn't understand my armor comparison, it was pointing out that the "Non - Degradable' handicap was irrelevant, becasue it is just used to avoid discussion of barrows, which is superior to all non-degradeable armor, unless you are doing PvM with prayer pots or something.

I'll assume that you do not have 85 mining, and I'll believe the figures of experienced rune miners who are able to not only time the worlds perfectly, but select worlds that are guaranteed to be empty around the time they're trying to collect rune ore.

Rune mining is probably the second or third best way to make money from skills in p2p.

After factoring in the time required to get to 85 mining??

dont insist on looking at something from a perspective, like that rune mining earns millions/h so it is a very good way of earning money. think about the costs, running to the bank, etc.

The... the costs of rune mining? You mean the rune pickaxe? The banking? In order to effectively mine rune, you have to be able to bank as quickly as possible so that you don't miss the next ore and mess up your times. You bank while you wait for the next ore to spawn, so it's not a factor other than getting good at doing it quickly.

It doesn't take THAT long to get to 85. It certainly doesn't take as long as 91 Runecrafting or getting the combat levels to effectively make max profit at green dragons.

Haha, you're a funny man. Ok then the first the true. Started at level 65. About 120 hours from there to 85. How many hours are in 75 days? 1800. 120 hours in 1800 hours isn't very much...and this is f2p. I could've more than doubled by xp rate in members.

It takes much longer to get 91 runecrafting than 120 hours. Rune mining makes JUST as much money and you can do something else (like read) while world switching or waiting for the rune to mine.

Hm, sure, 12k a ore is a total waste of time

They skyrocketed to 20k a few months back, they've dropped since to around 16-17k, if I remember correctly.

With 85+ mining you'll be able to make millions in a week. It might be boring, but i think it's the most powerfull f2p money making skill. :D It's painful.....yes!boring...yes (less than wc in f2p)!

It's not boring at all. Fact is you can semi-afk half the time. I mine at the Light Temple. I have 32 seconds between logins to read/stuff. Then when I log in I pop on melee pray and start mining. Then I go do stuff again, and when I hear my character attacking a Dark Beast (and failing because I don't have 90 slayer...), I know that I'm done and the process starts anew.

In the average 1.5 minutes it takes to get an ore, only 15 or so seconds actually demand attention. This changes, of course, if you're f2p. But still...beats everything else I know of.

Interesting. How do you know how long it takes???? your sig shows you don't even have 85 mining. Dont talk crap without evidence.

Im not saying rune mining is a slow way of earning money, but it takes too long and its quite boring.

You're absolutely right. If I don't have the levels, there is no possible way for me to know. /sarcasm

I have all the evidence I need in the form of guides and tests performed by miners with 85 to 99 mining and beyond. You've heard the testimony of a handful of those miners in this very thread, and you choose to ignore them.

I like mining just because it's the first skill I started. And to think it's been through so many changes over the years, mining has rarely been as easy as it is now. Still extremely mind-numbing though (and I keep my screen deliberately low-contrast, which makes it hard to see the coal). If I started Runescape today, I probably wouldn't bother with mining knowing how hard it is to level up. But once you can mine coal at a decent rate, it's plain sailing

You still havent answered the point about miners only being able to mine one ore per rock whereas wcers and fishermen can get much more than one fish/log per spot/tree. A rock is quite big so why shouldn't there be more than a vein of ore in a rock??????

Why does there need to be? Mining and fishing have roughly the same experience rates. Are you implying that we dumb all skills down to the ease of fishing and woodcutting because you're to lazy to do a little work? I dislike afkable skills, so I happen to enjoy mining very much.
