Loud fan when I play rs

Normally, my computer runs very quietly. I can be watching a movie, listening to music, have lots of stuff open and the fan is a very, very faint whirring. But whenever I play runescape, it's like it's trying to start a wind tunnel. Even if I'm just staring at the login screen, the fan is audible and, it seems to be random, it will get really loud for a minute or two, then go back to the audible level. I guess what I'm asking is: should it be doing this? Or is there any way to calm it down?

Runescape can take up quite a bit of your computer resources. If the fan speed is automatically regulated, then it's possible the fan will be blowing harder whenever load / temperature increases. Nothing special. More load = higher temperature = higher fan speed required.

When the temperature is normal, the fan speed will switch to a lower speed, thus being relatively quiet. Whenever the temperature increases, the fan will start blowing harder, till the temperature is back to normal.

So, in short, yes.. it should be doing this.

RS uses a lot of CPU.

The latest Java (6u12) has had some tweaks, though more to its D3D pipelines, but updating to latest Java may still have other performance tweaks.

The driver version number seems to be a Windowsupdate driver, and those are often lacking the finesse of a main release driver

Note, this is BETA, and also some laptops will not take reference drivers.

Runescape uses more CPU on my Q6600 on runescape than Crysis on V high DX9 Crack.

And CPU fans a generally VERY big.

You're probably looks something like this: http://www.supremelaw.org/systems/heats ... tock.2.jpg

I don't think there's a mobile CPU in a desktop :?

RS, like most games, maxes out your CPU capability to cache and draw frames you might need, making it run faster\smoother but taxing your heat cooling systems. I actually bought a pair of small, quiet cooling fans and put them under my laptop to circulate air; now the noisy regular fan almost never runs, and the whole system runs much cooler (cooler = longer life, fewer problems).

Runescape is extremely CPU intensive because it is Java-based. The fan will increase it's speed because the conditions necessitate increased cooling. There's nothing wrong with your computer.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Get some compressed air and clean out the vents and fans.

There's not much else you can do.
