What are you trying to insinuate? I'm not flaming - I'm merely posting my opinion of Dream Theater. If you got a problem with the fact that I think they're soulless, then maybe you should just stop going to forums.

Also, yes I did like Dream Theater - when I was 13. I grew out of it though and started listening to better metal and shoegaze.

Just thought i'd revive this with some more news. The first two tracks, A Nightmare to Remember and A Rite of Passage, have been leaked.

First Metallica has got All Nightmare Long and now Dream Theater comes with A Nightmare to Remember. Very creative, guys.

Album artwork is cool.

What's with the hate @_@

So the album has been on the internet for a couple of days now and I've listened to it about five times. My thoughts:

 

 

 

A Nightmare To Remember: A decent song, though I can't say im the biggest fan of it.

 

 

 

A Rite of Passage: I don't know why, but I don't like this song at all.

 

 

 

Whither: Nice little song, only about five minutes, pretty good.

 

 

 

The Shattered Fortress: I love this song. It's an amazing end to the 12 Steps Suite. It's pretty cool how the band put recognizable elements of every other song into it. It ends with a nice, completed feeling to it.

 

 

 

The Best of Times: A song about nostalgia. It's really nice, great song.

 

 

 

The Count of Tuscany: Sex on the ears. This is in the top 5 best songs DT has written written. Simply amazing.

 

 

 

Overall i'd give the album a 4.5/5. It starts off weak/average, but gets way better.

The first cover's pretty good too; Rainbow's Stargazer.

Whoa, I was acting like such an [wagon] earlier on. Disregard all of that crap. Here's my opinion:

 

 

 

Every moment of it was brilliant. They said they were going to combine all their previous efforts at epics together, and boy, has it paid off. This album made me love Dream Theater again. "The Best of Times" is my favourite track, and I really like "The Count of Tuscany" too. The other tracks are great too, but they didn't speak to me in the same way that those two did. "Wither" grew on me after a minute or so. I thought that one was pretty meh at first, but then it turned into a classic Dream Theater ballad. I love Dream Theater's ballads.

 

 

 

All in all, a VERY strong album, and probably one of the best they've ever put out! (it's hard for me to say that, because I love all of their albums). I'd rank it somewhere in between Scenes From a Memory and A Change of Seasons.

 

 

 

8/10. I'm definitely buying the collector's edition.

Shattered Fortress could have been better...Personally, I don't like how they copies part of their own songs to make it...Less Original...
