For the past month or two, I've been chopping yews in hopes of making some money to buy a green h'ween mask. I've been playing (on and off) since June 2005, and I've never owned a rare, so I thought I might try and get one.

 

 

 

Over the past week, I've been fretting about the yew prices and the green mask's prices. I don't know too much about trends, so I came here to ask you guys what you think.

As you can see, yew prices are going lower and the mask price is going up (277k is the highest I've seen this year...).

 

 

 

So, will yew prices go back up and mask prices go down? If so, how soon? If you feel that I should keep the money, I'll consider it.

Prices always change around then go back to normal unless there is an update that effects them.

 

 

 

I think they'll continue to do what they have been doing.

No one can know for sure.

 

But when something is declining, it will either continue to drop, or, it will drop, stop at a certain price, then slowly head back up.

I dont see green masks going anywhere but down and as for yews, I think they will drop a bit more then go back up.

The masks should continue to drop. However, I believe the yews should average at around 440gp. It could be that the players cutting of yews is finally making up for what the demand was missing with the removal of nearly all yew-autoers. They will only drop so far, though, since yew long demand will increase if they become more appealing to high alch.

 

 

 

I wouldn't really worry about the yews. I believe santas are more stable than masks, but ever since my huge losses in '07 I don't even care to deal with rares anymore.

I can't say about the mask (I'm assuming that the price drop is for masks is good for you so hopefully it sticks for a while until you can buy your mask), but I'm fairly confident that yews will go back up. It might take two weeks, but yews have a pretty constant demand so I'd say the price should head back up. They usually work like clockwork - up, stablilze, down, stabilize, up, etc. In fact, judging from the graphs you've put up, it looks like they've stopped the drop and may start to rise already - it probably won't reach the price it was at this rise, unless something is really screwing with the prices (mass clan merching, for example). If the logs start to drop now, after the price has levelled off, then I might say you should worry a bit because it probably means people will be getting rid of all of their logs in a hurry since the price is going down (think of it like a stock market crash - prices go down so people panic and sell their stock, which only pushes the price down further).

The mask will go up in price. There is a limited amount of them in the game and that amount is slowing going down. As more people are able to get the high level overpriced items they want they arn't going to stop making money and they will turn to buying the useless but rare masks and party hats once again.

Yews always were my money, but I made my 82 wcing then sold when they were 300 next time I logged on arounf 2 yeas later nearly 500 made me feel so dumb. And green mask will plumet my guess is around 9M at its lowest, then should go back up by holloween probobly close to 12-13M.

When I ended members, I managed to collect 84m when I sold everything and alched what I couldn't sell. My plan was to build that up in f2p so I could afford a phat. Well, that was in December, and needless to say the phat prices drop so fast and so quick that I just said: "This s*** ain't worth my money".

 

 

 

It's true. Rares aren't worth your money. I know that people want them and they look neat. I've owned rares before and I can account to that. My point is not that rares are pointless. My point is that in the current economy, rares aren't worth their cost. But that's only if you consider partyhats.

 

 

 

Opening to the bigger picture now, you can see that h'ween masks and santas have also been dropping, but at a much slower rate compared to the infamous phat. Although the h'ween masks are still falling painfully, the santas are not. In fact, santas can boast small gains in value on some days. That's not uncommon. Still though, they are falling in the larger picture.

 

 

 

Don't buy a rare. You'll be wasting your money. There are much better things to spend that on. In f2p, there may not be many, but in f2p or p2p the answer is the same: skills.

 

 

 

However, while the masks are going to indefinitely drop, the yews will rebound. Based off the graph, I'd say give them 3-5 days. By that time they will be climbing again.
