Mischlings
I haven't played this game seriously since the summer. I used to be a huge barrower, and I wonder what the profit looks like for barrowing now. About how much is the loot worth per trip, given the price changes since I last played? (I want the value of the loot, not supplies -- it varies too much based on which method I decide to use.) Quigs
I am not much of a barrower but I would guess that the profit per trip has not changed much from what you remember. This is because items like runes are not going to change significantly ever. But the prices of the armor have dropped a lot since then. Guthans is now only 4m lol. Which I like because I can finally afford a set! :D
Vezon Dash
You can still strike it rich at barrows with a dh helm and stuff.
llamster
Decent source of income, maybe 300-350k an hour unless you're really lucky, but there are better ways. I have better ways (86 mining), I was just wondering if it was still possible to make a decent profit at one of my favorite pastimes (I LOVED barrowing, trying it pretty much any way that I could think of), so it's good to know that it's still decent. Though, about how much is it per trip? If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature. Sportz
It varies, you can make 10k per trip or you can make 3m per trip (dh helm ftw), but I generally made money no matter what method I used (Slayer Dart once I got 55 slay =D) July 28, 2009 - 9817 to 99 HunterMarch 14, 2010 - 27,605 to 99 FishingJune 26, 2010 - 2000 Total Levels ReachedAugust 19, 2011 - 26,541 to 99 MiningMarch 29,2012 - 2200 Total Levels ReachedMarch 27, 2013 - All skills 85+
JoeDaStudd
I used to barrow for the money, but now I do it almost solely for the fun. Nothing like running low on food, with dharok in the tunnel. With the new methods, faster travel routes (bkr ring has been tweaked to be godlike), better potions and refined techniques its still as dangerous, but easier/faster to play. The older methods relied on the barrows item for money the newer ones profit mainly from the runes, bolts and coins. Having said that 2 great axes in 2 trips (4 to 5 runs per trip) proved very profitable. The best bit is older timers (I did it a lot on my old acc) like me learn the newer ways while mixing them with time tested ways. gorgoroth
Yeah Barrows is still worthwhile if youre a high level. I know a few people(95-105cb) who have gained alot of riches from if. Can someone enlighten me to these new ways? Are any of these as revolutionary as, say, Altar and Kharyrll portal in your house? Pointing me in the direction of a guide or any other way to find this information would be appreciated. JoeDaStudd
Can someone enlighten me to these new ways? Are any of these as revolutionary as, say, Altar and Kharyrll portal in your house? Pointing me in the direction of a guide or any other way to find this information would be appreciated. These are a few tips which make it a whole lot easier. If your doing 1 to 3 runs per trip use the following method to get there; Slayer ring to slayer caves -> Fairy ring -> BKR -> Run south-east to the boat. This is by far the quickest method of getting there, you're looking at anywhere from 30 seconds to a 1 and a half minutes in time saved. Take a sip of sara brew then a normal restore potion before starting a trip as you'll take a lot less damage (due to its effect being similar to a super defense potion) for the first run and have a boosted HP. Always safe spot verac in the tunnels, unless you have ahrim or karils in the tunnels, this saves a lot of food. If you have a spirit shield (bless or above help even more) or DFS use it. With DFS you can do a lot of bonus damage with the special. Don't take 3 sets of armour, 2 should be more then enough. Remove your metal/barrows armour when using magic on the brothers and praying if you have space, this makes for quicker kills and cheaper runs. IMO Salamanders suck, you can get far more runs with good old fashion magic as you can safespot the 4 of the brothers if you get them in the tunnel. You can flash pray ahrims with eagle eye to maximize damage and still be save behind protect from magic. Diamond and emerald bolts help kill ahrim much quicker then just plain bolts. Rune c'bow is better then magic short if your doing multiple runs as you don't need free space in your inventory to wield it. Some are old points which were never too commonly used, others are used but only by a few (I've only recently learnt how effect the fairy ring/slayer ring combo and use of enchanted bolts are) and some are pretty new and only just gaining popularity. Of course barrows is about having fun and doing it your way. gorgoroth
Sorry for thread stealing, but how long does it take (in hours) to get 50 chests? Im pretty sure it takes about 15 - 20 minutes max to get to the chest right? Runs takes just less them 10 minutes (this is my time with my much lower stats and includes safing atleast one brother) with a 12+ kill count (aim for 12, don't go under, but you can go over), but it depends on who lucky you are with the chest door and brothers. 5 runs per trip = 50 minutes (you'll be able to achieve this no trouble) So you'd need about 10 trips which would total at about 500 minutes or about 8 hours. With your stats you should be able to get it down to about 6 hours. Well lets say im a bit slower, and i get 1 chest every 15minutes (this will allow time for having trouble finding the chest or killing a brother) and i can manage to get 4 chests in one trip, it would mean i will get 4 chests every hour. this will mean about 12.5hours of playing time for 50chests, which will be about 8mil money? JoeDaStudd
this will mean about 12.5hours of playing time for 50 chests, which will be about 8mil money? WOW. If you get lucky. Its about 30k per run from runes, bolts and coins. You get one item roughly every 12.5 runs. 50*30=1500k + 4 random items, this could be 4 50k items, 4 2m items or a mixture (or you could just have a dry streak). Say you get 4 items averaging 500k that's 3.5m in 12.5 hours. This is about 280k per hour, but speed trip and your looking at 3.5m in 7 to 8 hours averaging about 400k per hour. Its really down to luck though as you can get a doubles (had 1 of these in about 300 runs, but its totaled to around 8m at the time  ), even triple drops and long dry streaks :( . SwreeTak
It sure is! No doubt about it. You might not earn as much as before, but it surerly still is worthwhile.
