All Holiday Items Tradeable!!!!!!

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU POST, ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE REPLYING TO THINGS I ALREADY ADDRESSED

AND ITS A RANT NOT A SUGGESTION SO WHY POST THINGS LIKE MY IDEA IS "AWFUL", IM JUST RANTING AND BLOWING OFF STREAM :^o

k, jagex didnt make the other holiday items tradeable because those item grew extremely high priced, and increased real world trading so people who couldnt afford in the game bought them in real life -.- , well now that jagex has mostly fixed this problem =D> they should make the other holiday items tradeable, some people say they shouldnt because it will lower the prices of already tradeable rares, but what i think is that its going to be more of a wealth trade than lost, meaning the money that come off the santa's and masks will go into their yo-yos and scythes. \'

Its really unfair because the items were made for all players to enjoy and if someone with nontradeable quits, those items are gone forever :boohoo: . when if they where tradeable could have simple been drop partied, and its driving some people crazy :wall: and angry  and i dont like it.

if they want a price for the items just price them on the year it was release, 2004 = 5M, 2005 = 4M, 2006 = 2.5M, 2007= 2M ,2008 = 1M and 2009 = 500k- 100k. their the prices range is fixed  for grnd exchange  Marcus6010.png MARCUS60100.png

made after compfreak's reply later in thread--->

then let players be warned by daingo that when they remove the items from him that he "WILL NOT" (in bold caps) replace their items. then that part would be fixed too

"just picked up off the ground", erm like you mean 5 years ago? well.....usually things that arent availiable anymore get pricey as they age, reason being when new players come along they go, "hey where'd you get that?" then they want one and then they earn it by wc, fletch to get the gp to buy it, i earn some of mine by being there in 2004,05,06,07,08.

so what if there are so many rares they will only be worth a few gp....as i recall when phat and santa first came out they werent worth 70+ or 12M, time will eventually increase the value of the items, when i quit i'd be happy if some lucky newb becomes the next r.s millionaire by getting my stuff in a drop party, eventually in the future say 5 years many more people will have quit and even many more will be playing, and it will keep on going like this until no one will even see those untradeable anymore.

The reason holiday items are so rare is because they aren't tradeable and there aren't that many left. Also, why would you want to drop party valuable items? Your price ranges are also a bad idea. They need to fluctuate like other goods based on supply and demand. If you want a complete crash in this industry, than your idea would be justified. As you don't, this idea is just plain horrible.

1.santas, masks, phats, easter eggs, pumpkins......etc are tradeable and they are rares.... they are tradeable and still are rare

2. i said if a player is quiting they could drop the items so other players who play will enjoy the rare items which the person who is quitting wont need or care about any more

3. its just a concpet price range jeez i dont care how they are priced

Sorry I lost my train of thought on that sentence. What I meant to say was that the non tradeable holiday items aren't rare because they can be replaced and many people have then.

In 2003, new holiday drop items were created to be untradeable. This was because the makers of the game did not like to see players hoarding old drops and selling them for huge profits. Jagex said that all future holiday drops would not be tradeable, because these items were not meant to be worth millions of gp, they were meant to be for fun. Many people were upset because they could not trade the newest 2003 drop items to friends who weren't online for that particular holiday. Things got so bad that there was no Christmas drop.

Really, you need to think this out a lot more. First of all, all the current rares are so common and undesirable that the price would be a few K at most. Second of all, the rares can be obtained from Diango for free, so that pretty much kills that. Third, the reason behind ending tradable drops was NOT because of RWT, it was because Jagex felt it gave an unfair advantage to those who had been playing longer and could obtain hundreds of millions form an item picked up off the ground.

Exactly my point. That's why Jagex discontinued them. Since you understand it, I'm glad you see why this would be a bad idea.

Hell no. These items were meant to be fun, not for people to gain quick wealth off of 'em.

REASON IM SAYING THAT ITS BASED ON RWTing IS BECAUSE BACK IN 2005 JUST OUTSIDE VARROCK'S WEST BANK -CANT REMEMBER WHAT WORLD I WAS IN- JAGEX STAFF MEMBER MOD ROSS WAS BEING HOARDED BY PLAYERS ASKING FOR STUFF AND GP AND REQUESTS TO BE MODS, I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A REPLY TO MY QUESTION WHY DONT THEY MAKE ALL HOLIDAY ITEMS TRADEABLE AND ONE OF THE REASONS HE GAVE ME WAS BECAUSE OF REAL WORLD TRADING.

I IGNORE ALL THE OTHER REASONS BECAUSE ITEMS IN THE GAME SELLING FOR HIGH PRICES WOULDNT EFFECT THEIR BUSINESS IN A NEGATIVE WHY, IT'D ONLY MAKE MORE PEOPLE PLAY LONGER TRYING TO GET GP TO BUY THEM.

AND IF THE ITEMS ARE FOR ALL PLAYERS TO ENJOY WHY CANT I ENJOY A YO-YO OR RABBIT EARS JUST BECAUSE I WASNT THERE ;)

Nice little made up story there.

Now, as I was saying, Jagex specifically said they didn't like the idea of players getting rich from picking up an item off the round. They had simply meant for the items to be fun, and this certainly wasn't there goal. As such, they made them untradeable - long before the RWT issue raised its ugly head.

thats rubbish, why would they say that and allow drop parties?

i've been to drops worth over 25Mgp and everyone has equal chance of getting tons of gp. even a lvl 3 newb with no idea what to do with it.

dont believe me - join the clan chat - big drops -

this guy made a clan chat for drop parties only and players advertise whats being dropped.

and believe me if you do i promise you will see drops that equal more than 50M in a week, imagine a newb making 10M a week from drop parties if he's really really lucky or whatever

p.s

my story is real and the reason i posted it was incase someone passing through this thread sees it and comfirms it for me.

Because drop parties can be accessed by anyone who wants to. Can you go back in time and get a party hat? My (actually, Jagex's) point exactly.

I cant but I can buy one, for the price.

This has nothing to do with time traveling.

This is about the fact that they dont want player to pick up items off the ground and get rich.

So what do player do at drop parties? <--- (this is a rhetorical question, just letting you know that incase you where going to answer it)

No, you completely missed the point. The problem isn't that they could pick them up, the problem is that they could and new players cannot. I can go to a party, a person who just joined yesterday can go to a party. So that has nothing whatsoever to do with the argument, and I'm not really sure why you insist upon bringing it up.

im bringing it up because thats one of the reasons why they wont let players trade them (them being holiday items).

honestly their reasons are filled with cliches. im not the type of person who gets fed crap and says it tastes good :shame: , i want a better reason for them not allowing the holiday item trade.

Ok, how about this. They don't want older players to become rich simply because they picked up an item that was meant to be in fun years ago. Very simple and obvious, specifically stated years ago by Jagex, and none of your made up reasons apply.

comp won this thread marcus, give up. Jagex wanted Holiday items to be fun, and when they saw that they were becoming more of a business than a game, they made them untradeable. End of story.

Them not wanting older players to get rich off of items they pick up is a dumb [wagon] excuse.

THEY ARE OLDER PLAYERS THEY ARE ALREADY RICH BY NOW.

And its not a business if you put them items in drop party.

its not going to give anyone an unfair advantage over anything, items that you buy can be sold back if you change your mind later, though the price my change for worst or for better.

like i said there is no good reason as yet.

Older players certainly aren't guaranteed to be rich by now, and your suggesting that NOW items become tradeable - an unquestionable advantage; just because I was around a few years ago, I picked up a couple items and was 1 billion richer. Talk about an advantage, I can't even think of any bigger then that.

Look, they posted it directly on the main page. Why are you trying to argue with indisputable facts?

there is a choice you either want the item or you dont want it, that applies to both sellers and buyers, no one is forced to buy/sell rares, and having a choice to do so isnt bad at all.

And now that they(jagex) have applied trade limits and boarders, they could simply decide that they want those items selling for how ever much - be it a few hundred gp or a few trillion <-- just an example.

like i said no one is forced to sell/buy, but atleast there'd be the option.

AND AS AN OLDER PLAYER I ALREADY HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OVER NEW ONES.

Link to comment

No, they couldn't; players would junk trade or use other methods to bypass the trade limit. Players establish the value of the item, and Jagex can't wave a magic wand to make that go away. Rares are worth a lot, and represent an unfair advantage to those who spent a few seconds picking them up versus those who must work to earn them.

AND AS AN OLDER PLAYER I ALREADY HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OVER NEW ONES.

How so? Everything you have now besides rares can be earned back by a new player. High skills? They can train them just as easily as you. Made a lot of money from GWD\DKS\Shark Fishing\Camping somewhere? They can do that just as well as you. But what they can't do is go back and pick up a hat from the ground to instantly become unbelievably rich.
