April 6, 200917 yr To take the example of God creating the new Covenant to replace the Old Testament; if He changes his laws in response to an unfavourable reaction from society, why should we not do the same? That is really only for the Christian/Catholic (and whatever religion that can apply to) Conservatives that believe we should not change laws just because we feel like it. Now, I personally have nothing against LGBT's as long as they keep it to themselves, just like I'd ask the same of a heterosexual couple. I don't mean that they can't kiss/'makeout' in public, but what I do mean is that if it goes from affectionate to sexual, the line has been crossed. I must say that because of a technicality, I do oppose gay marriage if it is stated in the [insert religious text here] that marriage is exclusive to heterosexual couples. Anti-gay religious texts would exist out of practicality; the death rate was very high a thousand or two years ago, and so anything that didn't result in reproduction simply stunted the growth of a nation and maybe caused families to die out. I do feel that this has lead to homosexuality being considered a taboo today, when survival rates are much higher, and in fact the Earth could benefit from a hit to our reproduction levels. I am in favour of someone being what they truly are than trying to be what they aren't however. Just one more thing though. If homosexuality was in any way hereditary, it would not exist. Why? Most gays will not be passing on their DNA. We don't know that. It could be two common genes that when they are crossed you get a homosexual person. If anyone had the choice to be homosexual or heterosexual I don't think they'd be homosexual for the simple fact that it wold basically isolate them from a majority of the population. The only way to really know if homosexuality is inherited would be to trace it through many generations, and the science hasn't been advanced enough to do that for that long. You also have to take into account that it's a complex trait and it's not just based on genetics or explainable by simple genetic models.

The united states was not founded on christianity, marriage isn't based on reproduction, christianity or anything other than two individuals who are in a romatic relationship who want to take it further. a. There are many spouses that cannot have children or will not have children. b. there are groups other than christians who are married (inter-raced, buddhist, muslims, atheist) c. you can get elvis to perform your wedding ceremony in las vegas d. you aren't married unless you have a legal marriage certificate, not some religous ceritificate. e. homosexual and heterosexual marriages have the same divorce rate reasons why same sex couples should be married a. first and foremost, the government should not discriminate based on sexual preference when issuing any type of government document (marriage license) b. ability to recieve assests upon death c. ability to visit ones one a deathbed if family doesn't want that d. they love each other

April 6, 200917 yr Laws about gay marriage have remained the same for over a century and a half. Now we should change them? Have homosexuals given the government any reason at all to do so? Their only argument is that they wish to engage in a loving, caring relationship. That's perfectly fine, but the catalyst there is the word "relationship." Homosexuals couples do not benefit the society around them, and often alienate those near them in the workplace or even around the neighbourhood. Having homosexual parents is also not good for children. As we all know, a mother and father in a stable marriage do a much better job of serving the interests of a child for several reasons. The first is that heterosexuality is the natural thing. Children can't look at a heterosexual couple and say "That's just weird." The same does not apply to a gay couple. For the kid who's adopted and goes to school with other children like any other young boy or girl, imagine what it's like to constantly have people running around you singing "[bleep]" or making fun of your parents? I have lesbian parents and I think they've been doing a good job so far. Loads of people know it and it has never been a problem for anyone. My blog
