indy500fan
Whats with everyone getting pissed at only 14? Am I the only person in Tip.It who didn't drink till I was 18? I didn't really drink until 21. Since then only been black out drunk once, and never plan on drinking that much again either. Saddens me to see people comparing how much they can drink. It's mostly based on body weight, and then on tolerance (or vice versa). Neither of which is a feat of skill. Saddens me even more to see people talking about going to the hospital/getting alcohol poisoning in a bragging way.

Iamdan
How does that work? As in, what adverse effects would a cigarette have on an alcohol soaked body? No difference to a non alcohol soaked body, just expressing my point that alcohol doesn't effect me as much as it should (which I hate) and a cigarette will. I've found that true not because people deliberately brag, (which I don't understand with the whole "I have to spend $30 more than you to get drunk I'm so great woooo") but because they miscount when they drink and tend to overestimate. In my area at least. I believe things like '1case,' '1 bottle' etc because that's pretty hard to mess up.
dusqi
I do not drink. I am genuinely interested in why people brag about how many shots they can drink. Why not have a contest where you punch yourself in the face repeatedly? Presumably it would also leave you disoriented that day and unwell the next day, but would save you money. I ask a similar question when people have contests to see who can eat the spiciest food. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one. Libertherme
I remember having 2 shots of sambuca clear, a cocktail with around 5 different spirits and then a shot of absinthe, which burn my throat, one after the another. I couldn't remember the rest of the night. Bear in mind I did have several pints before that too.

And some people are too stupid to even know what a realistic amount is, so they make a fool out of themselves when they're only 15 and say they had a whole bottle. Dexek
I thought Corky's had a low alcohol percentage shot-wise? When I go to the bar no one counts how many shots they drink, aside from when one turns 18 and does the honourary 18 shots. Although, around here it's usually 18 [blocked drink name] for an 18th birthday. Aside from that people don't really drink to be drunk, but to have a good time and enjoy the buzz on the way. I don't drink to be drunk nor to do it cheaply. I drink while casually having an enjoyable time, and drink what tastes good, not what will get me drunk the fastest or for the least amount of money. Although, maybe that's just a personal preference. Although I enjoy drinking and have no objections to getting hammered if it's part of the night (but I very rarely do). But drinking loads of shots really doesn't appeal to me, the hangover's are always terrible and because they don't hit you 'that' quickly you can drink quite a lot before you realise how much you've had. I guess it's part of that macho insecurity thing. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
venomai
I do not drink. I am genuinely interested in why people brag about how many shots they can drink. Maybe they realize just how pitiful their situation is -- having to spend/drink two to three times as much to reach the same level of intoxication -- and so they brag about it in a weak attempt to make themselves look superior. With that said, there are times when being a tank can come in handy. ... Evil_Sabre
I spent a summer in Turkey and I've seen Irish/Brits/Aussies all drink but the Turks shut them all down....the only other race I can think of that might be able do better is a Russian. I've never counted my shots but I know I've had at least 10 vodka shots.....and a lot of Irish Car Bombs......
l0rd
I ask a similar question when people have contests to see who can eat the spiciest food. Hold on a f***** minute, don't bring spicy food into this, that is totally different (at least for me). I grew up eating spicy food, and spicy as opposed to sweet, salty, etc. is my favorite taste. I love stimulating the senses to such an extent, and I love the taste of most peppers. You are comparing a poison to the body to something genuinely healthy. Just because your friends brag about how many jalapeno slices they can eat before gulping down their glass of milk, doesn't mean that spicy foods are eaten mostly for bragging purposes. Erk02
6-7 shots of Vodka is my limit. Did that once, and threw up like half an hour later. Of course, I was high at the time, and while that enabled me to drink that much, it also contributed to my throwing up. As for how often I drink, I prefer to smoke; much better experience, in my opinion. I do English to Japanese and Japanese to English translation for free! I don't think he's saying that. What I got from it was that the competition aspect of it is what grinds his gears, and I agree with that. All it sounds like to me is the primitive dominance thing. trapical
Jesus getting that drunk at 14? You're still in puberty you can really screw up some of your physiology. Oh well, your choice I guess. I didn't drink till i was 20, but you should be fine drinking at 16. Anyway, back to irresponsible drinking stories. You know what a power hour is? 1 shot of beer of minute? Yea, me and my roommate tried a power hour... with 1/2 shots of Absinthe. We wanted to see if there were any hallucinogenic effects. I don't remember past minute 22 though. My other, sober, friend who was pouring the drinks told me I made it to #38 before I passed out, and I was mumbling loudly about cardboard.
