Zaaps1
Hello. If any of you remember my previous thread, I was deciding which skill I should get 99 in. That one involved me considering almost every single skill in RS, with the exception of about 6. This one will involve much fewer options, as I've pretty much singled down my choice. Plus, after a brief reconsideration, I've decided to ditch everything else and get either 99 magic or 99 summoning (with or without 99 magic). [hide=personal details]My stats are in the sidebar over there <---- Just click the "Zaaps1" and my stats should come up. Too lazy? That's fine, as I'll state the skills I have later. I have done almost every quest in Runescape. I am a former owner of the quest cape. However, I lost membership right before In Pyre Need came out, so every quest released after that I have not done. I have done every single Achievement Diary to its fullest, except Seers' which I have not even started. However, after getting members back, those remaining quests and diaries will get done. In short, I have access to every single area possible in the Runescape world, or I will have access to it shortly. So you needn't worry yourself with "oh, maybe he didn't do this quest", or "oh, he might not have Karamja Gloves 3". If there's a requirement, I most likely have it. Are we good? My money-making method is Rune Mining. I can get 600-800k per hour with that. I will also farm herbs and use MTK. I will also Star Hunt daily. I have 85m to use. Preferably, I would not spend all of it. However, if I need to, I will. I don't care if I have 1gp left over and can't buy the cape. I can get the money back easily enough.[/hide] Ok, here are my questions for you all. Magic So I've decided that Magic might be one of my 99s. I am 82 magic as it stands right now, and I am roughly 10.5m xp from 99. Here's what I have so far: String Amulet: Will cost me 40m after 80 hours with 600k bonus xp in crafting Plank Make: Will cost me 24m after 75 hours, but I also need to get 4 magic levels first Diamond Bolt Enchant: Will cost me 13.7m, unsure about the time. So here comes the question barrage: 1. Are those numbers correct? What is the xp/hour of Diamond bolts? 2. Is Plank Make afk-able like String Amulet is? 3. If I String Amulet, is it worth it to make my own amulets while I am f2p? I am also seriously considering Ice Bursting Rock Lobsters. I want to get 99 summoning in the near future as well. 4. I need numbers for this. What are the rates for: ---a) Charms/hour (crimson and otherwise) ---B) Cost/hour ---c) Magic and hp xp/hour 5. And how much will it cost me to get 99 using this method? Summoning This is the first time I am seriously considering this. Currently 74 summoning. Here's my plan: I will be using crimson charms. I will make G Lobsters, S Titans, Wolpertingers, and Pack Yaks in that order. 1. I've calculated the crimsons I need to be 30648. I've calculated the cost to be ~60m. Are those figures correct? (That includes trading in the pouches for more shards and selling those shards.) 2. If I Ice Burst for those charms, what is the cost needed, time needed, and magic/hitpoints xp gained? (On a side note, assume that I will stop Ice Bursting once I get all the charms.) 3. If I Waterfiend those charms, what is the profit, time, and defense xp (using Zammy Spear) gained? 4. Those numbers are only considering that I will use crimsons. If I use the other charms I get (gold and blue, forgetting the greens entirely) how would that end? How much time would I save? How much extra money would I save/lose? 5. How quick should the actual pouch-making go? Should I also turn them into scrolls? How much time/money would I save by doing so? And that's all. Thanks everyone! ~It's Super Effective! Inuashakent
As for Summoning, your 99 prices are about right, but I'll warn you... Bursting Rock lobsters will easily triple that price, and that's far passed double your budget. Don't bother with chinning if you're going to be cheap. Yes, Addy plates with SC hammers are the best, and tanning makes 500k+/hour, it's up to you if you'd rather tan or mine rune ores. I would advise against stringing necklace for you. What is the amount of money needed to burst for 30k crimsons? Out of curiosity, why do you recommend against string amulet? ~It's Super Effective! Inuashakent
Was 30k crimsons the needed amount for 99? If it was, it should be ~150m + the 60M for the actual Summoning. And String amulet is extremely expensive, while Bursting rock lobsters gives almost as much Magic xp, HP xp, and Summoning xp. Inuashakent
With Maxed stats, Void, Piety, Unicorn, I could get over 100/hour. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]

KingDodongo
1k Bursts = around 250 Crimsons, last I heard. I <3 SikTh.
Inuashakent
1k Bursts = around 250 Crimsons, last I heard. I don't know where all these #'s are coming from... before I quit, it was generally accepted that 180 was the number, now it's 250... Anyways, if it really is 250/1k burst (doubt it...) then the bursting price should go down by 25% or so. Zaaps1
Edited. I've decided to go for either 99 magic or 99 summoning, and completely forgetting about everything else. So here's what I'd like to focus on: I still don't know the exact specifics of Ice Bursting Rock Lobsters that I'd like to know. Does anyone have the current numbers? I've added Diamond bolt enchanting. At 13.7m, it's the cheapest option I have for magic. But does anyone know what the speed is? ~It's Super Effective! xSxqPowerx
I'd go for summoning, personally, since it's the most useful. If you burst you will get 99 magic on the way. Although it will cost a lot more (150m?)

bedman
Go for summoning. It goes hand in hand with magic. I seriously feel sorry for the 2m xp of 90-99 that I didn't bust, I wish I bursted it all. Normally, bursting to 99 magic will fall just into your 80m budget. If you barrage, which actually might be more cost efficient (there are some threads on it, but the data differ, I'd suggest you test them yourself), it will be more, but if you mine rune in the time you saved, you should probably end up with more money. The bursting/barraging should get you a few mill (2-3 I'm guessing) off 99 summoning. I'd suggest filling the gap with waterfiends. Do the bursting first so you can use a unicorn at fiends. You will make around 75-150k an hour there, including the prayer pots you use for piety and super sets etc! for bursting information: check my reply on your other thread. ikraz66
Why would you even consider not using the non-crimson charms. It is by far more efficient and cheaper to use even your green charms than to burst for more crimsons. I recommend making golds into barker toads (if you want to break even, go for tortoises), greens into unicorn pouches(make sure you turn those to scrolls), and blues into geyser titans, although you could do earth titans (scroll them) instead to save money there. Zaaps1
Great, by the way, are Spirit Dagannoths worth it? I was thinking to just make G Lobs until the Swamp Titan. ~It's Super Effective! bedman
I didnt make them, they werent worth it. However, prices can have changed in the mean time. I would just stick to G lobs, they're not that bad. Mil
Well, if you were to go with Magic, I would enchant at Mage Training Arena. You would need about 150k cosmic runes, which you could buy for about 21M off GE. You would make some of the money back from blood and death runes you get as a reward, but not all of it. This is a pretty fast and cheap method of getting 99 Magic, with 80k+ xp an hour (mostly more than that though). However, it can be quite boring, so you need to entertain yourself while doing it :P I know it is not a method that you suggested, just giving my advice based on how I got 99 Magic. gorgoroth
First of all you've got to ask yourself "Which one would prove of better use?". The way i see it Magic only has one good use: PvP. Using Magic for MvP combat is very costly and in many ways not as effective as Melee. Summoning on the other hand has alot of Pro's. Combat fimiliars may speed things up when it comes to MvP combat. Some of them give very handy Stat Boosters and as we all know Pack Yaks are amazng when it comes to Solo-ing Bandos, etc. Money should not be a question. Money is always simple and easy to make. The realy question should be which one would be more often used. i would personally go with Summoning simply because i find no delight in Pvp. But if you're a regular PK'er, then you might just want to go with Magic. Hope my input helps you reach a deciscion. **Thanks to Boo_Boy666 for my amazing Singnature**[hide=Slaytanicc's Achievments]|99Cooking achieved 24Dec 2008|99Strength achieved 17Feb 2009|99Hit Points achieved 8April 2009||99Defense achieved 29May 2009|99Attack achieved 2August 2009|99Ranged achieved 14August 2009|[/hide][hide=Guides by Slaytanicc]Aviansie Maging + Ranging Guide (Must Read!!)Iron Mining + Banking GuideGreen Dragons GuideAnkou Slaying Guide[/hide]

Why would you train magic that way ,if magic and summoning can be trained together, with both rates being top lvl (summoning xp/h bursting is best summoning xp in game, mage xp bursting is like third or fourth best xp in game + tons of hp xp, if you want that hp cape too). bedman
Oh. The 100-110 figure is when using karil/void (not much difference), a zammy spear/ss (again, not much difference) and piety. You rarely have to use protection from missiles if you have a unicorn. Even with a bunyip you might be able to keep up because of the raw food drops (scroll ability). If you are maxed melees, you could probably get around 120, but that's with extreme focus and perhaps not including banking time, or at least banking like a machine.
