Hey Pepsi,

I'm going to that Skrillex concert in 6 days. U jelly?

How much are the tickets for that show?

He's coming here in Nov. If it wasn't so ridiculously high compared to other concerts, and sold out, I might've gone.

90 dollars? wtf

That's what I said. But that's through StubHub. I'm pretty sure through the Valarium itself, it would've been around $20.

Well, one hour of cutting later, and I got rid of a quarter of a page. Awesome.

I've always found this speech stuff kind of interesting.

So you prepare these big speeches on a topic given to you, and whoever gives the best speech wins?

Because that's the exact kind of assignment in school that I loathed.

Again, interesting.

It's kind of like that. However, we get to pick our own speeches.

Probably the most best explanation:

There's two categories of events, platforms and interps.

Platforms are what you would think of as a speech. We pick a topic, and we either write an entertainment(a funny speech with no factual merit), an informative(Informs, rather than persuades, about a topic), or an oratory(Persuades, rather than informs, about a topic). Then we get together and give the speeches, and get judged on who gives the most natural presentation with the best written speech and maybe the best visual aids depending on your event.

There are also Extemps. They're more like what you described - they get given a topic about some modern political issue, and they're given a half hour to write a speech about it and present it. It's a different kind of speech, and it's usually not counted alongside the others.

Then there are interps. These are more like mini-plays or acting skits than speeches. You don't write your own stuff, you find or put together a script and give an interpretation of that. There's HI (Humorous Interp, primarily funny), DI (Dramatic Interp, usually monologues about sad events (like rape)), and Poetry (Several different poems with a common theme put together and delivered.). The winners of these events are the ones who have the best characters, the best pops, and the best readings. Most people do these events, rather than platforms.

As a subset of interps, there's the two group events, duo and OID. Both of these can be either funny or serious, depending on what script you choose. Duo/duet is what it sounds like - 2 people interping a script together. The difference between duo and duet is that one of them allows the speakers to touch, and the other doesn't. OID, on the hand, is a group of people. 3-5 people are in an OID team, and they interp their script together. Touching isn't allowed in this event at all. Both events are judged on the same things as the solo interps, but the judge will also look at how well the group works together, which can be a blessing and a curse.

Speech kids don't get together so much for the speech giving, though that can be fun sometimes, especially if you're in a good entertainment round, but instead they do speech because it's fun and classy. Speech kids wear suits. That makes us pro.

Edit: Most best. Wow my brain is fried tonight. I kept writing right instead of write too. >.<

I actually read all of that. Is it like a class dedicated to giving speeches?

@monk, ...oh. Well yeah. That's kinda to be expected since it's sold out.

In Knoxville the show's 18+, that's interesting. 16+ here. I wonder why.

eskjdfwlkafsasdgf I remembered the book I was talking about before. It was The Covenant by James A. Michener.

@pie, something to do with the venue and its policies? Dunno.

[hide=Typical rant]

I need to cut a full [bleep]ing page from my speech. God damnit. I have nothing I want to cut. Nothing.

I wish I had that problem.

I have a speech to write now, not going well. I put it off way too long and forgot I also have to make a powerpoint for it. Plus, I'm in a bad mood now and hate the next two days already. I just wanna go home, where I can be with my cat since mom will be working and Cyndi will be with her boyfriend. And then my hopes and dreams of the next weekend being great have been semi-crushed since, of course, Cyndi works a ton. Being logical and basing off how she was last time I was home, she'll probably think "screw sleep, Emily's home" and actually hang out, but she works 12 hours on Saturday and it'll depend on her mood if she'll do anything. Hopefully she doesn't work that Sunday, or that's a definite deal breaker for her to be around. Whatever. I wanted to say "too bad you spend all your weekends off with your boyfriend and I've been second social priority since his existence", but me and her haven't fought since August and I'd like to keep it that way. Their relationship still bothers me, without a doubt; lately, her facebook updates have been unreadable because they're all about him. Jesus Christ, if someone doesn't know you're dating him by now and that you LOVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART then they DO NOT CARE. And, if he cared that you posted all those things, he'd like them or become a pathetic mushball on there too. Seriously, grow up. I was stalking a relationship we make fun of together and they're the same way. She thinks she's better than them. WTF. Some days, I wish he'd think "I'm in college and my girlfriend talks to me like we're middle schoolers" and dump her. She'd come to me for help, no doubt, and I'd hope she'd see all she put me through during their existence and apologize for once. I'm the one who apologizes, and I apologize for fighting back because I have no backbone, no dignity, and no balls to change myself. Without him, she'll end up on the same level. I even have more friends than her; she's isolated herself so badly.

But of course, that probably won't happen. He'll be around during the same holidays, and I'll end up being treated like crap, because that's what everyone else means to her in comparison to him: crap.

It's too bad I'm not appealing to males and don't have enough self-confidence to work on that. [/hide]

I said I'd quit midnight my time. It's not much longer, and I shouldn't be here posting anyway. I should be doing my speech. Do you ever get that feeling that when life isn't going your way, you might as well make it harder for yourself? It doesn't make sense, but that's what I get. Right now, I don't want my responsibilities or emotions, so I'm making it harder for myself.

Alright, so I miss a week of Calc basically. Come back to a quiz, have completely forgotten everything on optimization. Get there, do quiz. Afterwards, get the same answer as other people. Somewhat okay class.

I finished Super Mario 64 yesterday for the 97 quadrillionth time. (Probably more lik 5th or 6th. I [bleep]ing love that game.) I've been casually playing some flash games too.

That reminds me. Any of you played SM74? It's a hack by Lugmillord. It's really good. You should check it out. The missing stars is pretty good too. It has a really different feel. I haven't completed that one yet.

Is it just additional Super Mario 64 levels?

I'm going to milk Goon's teats

Pretty much. They're a little bit harder, though.

Cool.

Did you ever finish Vectorman? I've been playing that lately.

I'm going to milk Goon's teats

Yeah, about a week or two after I heard about it (here). It was fun. The title screen was really annoying.

Actually, y'know what? I think I'll try TASing Vectorman tomorrow. I've never done a Genesis TAS and I need something to do anyway.
