Why does every [bleep]ing kid who plays Dark Souls use either the Drake Sword, that Lightning Spear, or a [bleep]ing Flaming Katana?

 

Because they don't know what a good weapon is (unless they're using the katana, that one is actually pretty good). But the previous 2 are horrible. I mean, they aren't even half as good as other weapons when you build your character right.

I nearly bought Dark Souls once. But it was super expensive. So I didn't.

It's down to about $35 new. Even cheaper used now if you're still interested. IF you get it off amazon. Going to Gamestop, expect to get ripped off.
