Yeah, Adventure Time has a similiar theory. Basically, all of the adventures, the crazy [cabbage] that happens, the weird stuff he goes through in the show is a metaphor for Finn's actual experiences. He deals with horrors on a daily basis, from mutants to vast amounts of destruction, so the only way Finn can cope is by hiding behind his imagination. For example, there's one episode in which Jake is trying to impress his girlfriend's parents, and at the end of the show, he inadvertently offers to let the Rainicorns eat Finn, because he's a human and that's their natural diet. Finn doesn't get eaten, and the Rainicorns explain that they were excited because they had never had an actual human before, they only have a soy substitute. So the gang goes out and they eat this substitute, Finn included, and they all agree that the soy people (and thus the humans they taste like) taste good. That was a metaphor for cannibalism.

I can see it, especially since there's actually a few different examples of the cannibalism, but Pen's apparently said that this isn't the actual story behind it, or at least it's not completely accurate, which makes me happy. If all that were true, it would make the show really dark, and that's kinda sad. There's some dark stuff already.

The original title card for the first storyboarded episode. Obviously it was toned down quite a bit.

Another rather dark one that shows the destruction of the world.

And I thought Ren & Stimpy was a really dark cartoon.

Well it is, and will stay at the top, but damn Adventure Time sure is trying to get up there.

It's got some really dark undertones if you get too far into it. I dunno, I kinda feel like it makes it just a little cooler. It's still wild and zany, there's just other things besides wild and zany.

You still get [cabbage] like this:

Fun fact, originally it was beavers covering them. The network was like, No, not gonna work, so they toned it down to wood instead.

Not going to lie, at first I thought you were just being your usual over analyzing self.

Till you showed me this image.

Now I'm beginning to rethink my original opinion about this show, which was just some kid, his talking dog, in a weird fantasy universe.

Well, my mom has issues with the utility company so she couldn't access hers online because she already paid the bill and the site doesn't give her normal access (this site also didn't take her payments for three months and failed to send her emails alerting her of this, resulting in our power going off even though the money left her bank account when she paid. She had to pay a deposit to turn the power back on and won't get it back until she pays her bill on time for six months.) I asked my best friend since I was talking to her before my mom called to tell me she couldn't tell me ours, and my friend's family didn't have their statement anymore because they already paid the bill. I asked another neighbor and he answered right away, it was insane. He misses me being around the neighborhood, last night he was ranting about my best friend for like half an hour, I was just thinking you're talking to the wrong person, ohwell.

/FG/First thread post to when I joined the family.

I watch stupid TV. Not exactly proud. But at least I'm not into anime, I'd be just another anime freak girl and there's already enough of those
I prefer anime over the majority of shows on TV, dunno why.

Well, seeing as how most of the stuff on TV is generally reality TV, anime is better.

 Anime Freak Girls are crazy and write horrible literature. Anime Freak Guys are [bleep]ing creepy. What would you guys call 'Freak' tier anyways? I'm thinking something on Icu's level or higher, who can list a fair few anime shows he's watched beginning to end. I've only watched three for more than a few episodes, and I can't remember the names without a few minutes of thought. All in all, I find it a generally uninteresting set of genres, but American TV sucks to high hell and I get very bored very easily.

How many is a "fair few"?

I've watched like 8 series in full, and watching some atm.

Oh no looks like one of the penguins died. How do cockroaches kill a penguin?

Spoilers, damnit!

I should probably get back to watching that. I had forgotten.

Anywho, I know plenty of nice girls who watch anime. Several are Asian, so it kinda makes sense I suppose, and at least one is just crazy awesome and knows something about almost every kind of media. It's just her thing.

On the subject of evil theories, Azumanga Daioh has some really well-thought-out and plausible ones for it being set in purgatory and a flying hallucination of a weird cat-thing being god.
