July 23, 200917 yr No. and No. Legends is worth completing I guess if you're cash starved and want a good cape. Although it takes some money to do Legend's quest. Just get an obby shield/rune defender and an obby cape. I piety the fool.

NOT WHAT SHIELD TO USE :) If you need more defence then yes, if not then no. If you can afford any of the spirit shields then it is useless. There are better reasons to complete legends than the shield, such as for other quests or a cheap cape if you go pking. IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
July 23, 200917 yr for normal slaying/monster killing, use obby shield or rune defender for high level bosses where you need more defence, an obby shield normally works for me because its cheap and good def, but a d[] would win there. also, if u want even better, go for a dfs. its really a matter of where you plan to use I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come

July 23, 200917 yr it isn't better or worse than obby, just has different use, if you cant afford dfs and are taking heavy damage against a monster it is useful, plus imo it looks better if just wandering about aimlessly :)
July 23, 200917 yr Defence bonuses are more plentiful than offence bonuses, hence the reason why most prefer the obby shield, dfs, and rune def to the d square or spirit shield. Not really, but do it anyways. rune defender all the way, until you can afford a dfs ;) Wrongo. DFS is garbage. Utter and complete garbage. It is an incredibly effective way to waste 15 million GP on an essentially useless item. For basically any melee situation, rune defender is better. For basically any range situation, blessed spirit shield is better. Saves around 13m, has no negative range, and gives +3 prayer. The defenses differ by about 20 or so.

Yeah, LQ is a req for other big quests that most players will want to have completed. The dungeon also has some monsters worth training on. The DFS is only good for meleeing dragons. It's not COMPLETELY garbage. Just pretty close. The blessed SS is good for tanking situations only, otherwise the Zammy or perhaps Guthix book is more suited to ranging. However, the D square doesn't have that bad of a neg range bonus (just -2) and is good if you're really poor and can't even afford the blessed SS. BSS for bosses and range tanking situations, Zamorak book for normal safespot ranging.
