Well its one of those book/film things. A harsh prison colony, someone unjustly imprisoned, ect ect.

Since I can't really run that campagin against myself you could run it.

Just a random thought.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Sere, you could send them to me! :)

My method has a 100% chance that no prisoner will ever commit another crime ever again. That's because they'll be dead or in a trance of terrible pain and agony. You can see their bodies writhe until they can't move anymore. Sometimes, we put some IV into them to keep the blood flowing, and the bodies writhing.

That's the great thing about not having constitutions, you can torture your people for eternity!

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

Oh yeah, my Caravels have arrived in Recea Decimus and have taken up defensive positions over the Licht Planet.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Honestly, your cause is futile. I have twice the ships, and either way I can just destroy your fleet and then bomb him. It would be far easier for you to just step out of the way...

Arch's ships are invincible.

Not really, my ships are Super, your ships are probably battle, maybe heavy battle.... maybe even 1 or 2 super. The odds are heavily stacked in my favour though.

:^o

My Earth fleet has arrived in my system 473 LY away. Stations are all set up from the production ships, and the 500 harvester/mining ships are being deployed currently.

This is just for my reference, I have 25 920 production points to spend. Then, once all the mining and production things are set up, I will be getting 6 480 per turn. Production is all going into ultra battleships.

On Earth, I have 30 240 points to spend. Those are all going into producing super battleships and massive transports, so I have 20 super battleships built and 205 massive transports built.. Starting this turn, those battleships will be packing up all of those production stations (14) and bringing them to my other system. That will be done in 8 years. The massive transports will remain in orbit around earth.

How do the production points work?

I've been actively spending 400b a year on my ships for the past 75 years. There is no way in hell that the odds are stacked in your favor at all.

What I was saying about Steam Engines and Horses....Doesn't matter how much you spent on Horses a steam-engine will beat them every time. (Though this is not quiet the same, you could beat me, it would just take a pretty big horse fleet and my metaphors are totally mixed)

How do the production points work?

Rather than planning for stuff and then building it, Doom does it the other-way round, for not explainable reason.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

How do the production points work?

It's a system I made up. Each production station gives 200 points/year. I believe i have the most, with 14 around earth, 4 (?) in Alpha Centauri, and 24 or in my furthest system. This is where all my money (practically) has been going for 40 yeas.

Mining/Harvester ships are worth 10

Transports (hold 100,000) are worth 10

Massive Transports (hold 400,000 but are armored way more than transports) are worth 50

Fighters are worth 1

Escorts are worth 5

Battleships are worth 10

Heavy Battleships are worth 100

Super Battleships are worth 1000

Ultra Heavy Battleships are worth 2000

Flagships are generally worth 10,000

Unique ships vary in cost.

@Archi: What causes my probes to fail hard?

500 billion a year is now being diverted to increasing the size, and defensive capabilities of my Research Station Superstructure. We are also putting civilian infrastructure in it, so a large # of people can live there.

Here's my budget right now:

Total (earth) 2.6 trillion.

500 billion to what I just said (2.1 left)

400 billion to improving habitats (1.7 left)

500 billion to Navy (1.2 left)

1 trillion to space production (.2 left)

.2 to various research projects (0 left)

They basically failed to find anything. Like when you stab a pitch fork into a haystack.

That's not how this game works. Based on starting population, you shouldn't really even have enough money for more than 1 steam engine. This game only works because the longer you play the stronger you are (with some small exceptions).

In that case, my scientists have a breakthrough, I'm now producing super-ultra-omega-hyperion battleships for $100 each.

I don't have any money.

The game is rapidly changing.

If you can explain why your scientists have suddenly made a breakthough then fair enough.

Also I spent about 6 years doubling my Quark Fusion generators, since the energy and material output of the generators need to be channeled somewhere. So my original 180 became 360, 720, 1440, 2880, 5760, 11520....

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

So did I lose my probes, or can I just call them back and reuse them?

SWAG

Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

I think that since you launched them, they're just sorta going by their own momentum.

I would like to send out two probes in relatively the same direction. They'll diverge and in 5 turns or so, they'll tell me what happened.

Then you don't have any ships.

No, you're changing it. And it seems to only be benefiting you.

No.

Nope, Doom said it was fine.

No the game is changing, just plodding along with one massive army destroying the next massive army has got old. I wouldn't say only me....Ross, Sere, Retech, even Dusty, seems to be benefiting from the changes.

No you can't explain? Then sorry, you can't have your $100 ships.

So did I lose my probes, or can I just call them back and reuse them?

You can fly out and pick them up, but that will take 3 years.

If you want to fit them with return servos then it will take a few(1/2/3) years of research and the price goes up to 150B

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Lolz, I was wrong on two counts! :)

Archi, I don't care about your quark whatevers. All I know is that $30 trillion worth of scientific research and construction of ships > 20 years of scientific research and construction of ships.

You don't win because you know what a quark is. You don't win because you spend your days reading wikipedia articles about quantum fusion. You don't win because your scientists were supposedly so much smarter than mine that they just up and built something twice as good. That's not how it works, that's not how it will ever work.

And I'm not "plodding along with one massive army". I'm just a little pissed off that, "Oh even though you've been playing by the rules that were established 80 years ago they no longer have any meaning and your $30 trillion worth of work is now completely worthless because well I don't think its as much fun."

^This. Stop bending the rules to fit your play Arch.

I don't think that sheer amounts of money should be used to determine anything. Just use time and relative amounts of money (20% of budget, etc), since everyone seems to be making their money differently. It should be relative to the total amount of money you've spent. Get my point?

Sigh, it is a reasonable argument.

Now if only you had presented it the first time I introduced each of my ideas I would be willing to compromise.

Also, you stop bending the rules to meet your needs. I am sick of hearing about weapons that are impossible and armour that is unthinkable. Saying you have spent trillions on something doesn't make it allowable. Any more than me saying I was going to spend 30 years working on Tachyon Drives and being told they were not allowed. Unless you want to create a council of people who decide what is allowed and what isn't accept that I have my way and you have yours, and my way dictates that I develop ships that blow yours out of the water because they rely on launching 50 million nukes per second and I can blow 50 million nukes up per second.

To be honest it is really annoying to have people telling me 'Sorry, you can't be imaginative because it makes people who use spreadsheets look bad.'

If you want to do that then stop with all the scientific jargon and just say 'Developing 89 point weapon.', 'Developing 40 point armour.' because you are not roleplaying you are just gibbering out phrases you have heard.

Why do you think there are/were so many arguments, you have all designed weapons thinking 'Ultimate weapon, look I spent 500 years on this so it beats everything.' and then wondered why you couldn't beat the other people who had spent 500 other years developing different 'beats everything' weapons.

In all honesty I am not that bothered about science, I am bothered about creating weapons that other people can understand in real terms and '1500 lasers' is a term most people can understand, far better than 'Arc Laser' or 'Nuclear Missile'. A nuclear missile can be just about anything, from a 5 Kilo tonne drop in the ocean to a 100 Mega Tonne Island destroyer.

And a Nuclear Missile is not the end all and be all of weapons, it can be very easily defeated by a laser because it is, first and foremost, a missile. Missiles can be shot down.

I will accept that sometimes I overstep the mark, fair enough, I am trying to deal with that.

I am trying to standardize the universe so rather than 'Archi's Rules' and 'Rocco's Rules' they are all the same rules. Not mine, not yours, but everyones.

Because I am the only person, it seems, willing to do this obviously my rules are being given heavier weight. I have asked for help, time and again, and each time no one responds.

Furthermore your rules make it virtually impossible for anyone new to join 'You shouldn't even have enough money for more than one generator' you want to create these little satellite states which are completely dependent on the major countries for the next 80 years. I think it was Grim who laughed at my concept of Morale because it couldn't buy food or raw materials... he completely missed the fact that I had both of these commodities.

Its like sitting at a 1900 conference on world power 'We have this, therefore we are the best', 'No we have this we are the best', 'Well at least we are sure that places like Africa, Canada and Asia which will never develop.'

You just come up with so much rhetoric about how it should be impossible for any new power to actually develop as though you have some kind of monopoly on the universe.

NEWSFLASH The Natives have Rebelled, your words do not protect you from their sharpened spears and because you were too busy fighting each other you didn't notice that they got guns as well. Your empires are crumbling beneath your feet and all you do is point to how it is impossible.

So either try to help me construct a proper system for maintaining order, or vote me out because I am not just going to be silent for the next 80 years while people leave their empires on autopilot.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

To be honest, I'd rather keep Archi in the game since he adds a little more excitement to it. Also, just saying "Project X has started, 50B/year" and a day later saying "Project X is finished" is rather boring. I'd rather have more storyline to the game than just that. Also, it's a tad bit hypocritical to criticise Archi for coming up with interesting technology when we use something as unrealistic as a 200-300M army during a war on Earth. It's also pretty goddamn stupid to just one day turn your entire population into a bunch of lizard people, mermaids, or flying insects and everyone being perfectly fine with that... I'm pretty sure most humans would rather be human and not a Reptilian or whatever. [/rant]

Also, Archi, we did try to create a "majority-rule" council in the past, but the NWO happened to be the majority, so it was shot down. Although the few people that opposed the council had a good reason to oppose it (NWO wasn't really neutral after all), I still think that majority-rule should be in place.
