Faux
Story: Recently, IE's history has been full of.. mysterious nude sites. There's two suspects I have in mind and they are my brother or the kid that we usually babysit. Is there a program that would block sites when I add to the list? I only need it for Internet Explorer. Thanks in advance. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
Mercifull
I'm not aware of any decent free programs that can do this but i did find this on snap files http://www.snapfiles.com/get/pfilter.html i dont know if it will be up to the job but its worth a try i guess. sounds like it might sometimes block legit sites but theres an option to add sites to the white list, as well as other site u want to block on a blacklist. ____
Technically speaking the HOSTS file can be used as a website blocking "program" ;) c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
Mercifull
Technically speaking the HOSTS file can be used as a website blocking "program" ;) c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc True, except it also means he wont be able to check on those sites for "research" purposes on firefox ;) Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. ____
What are you guys implying? :o I don't do that crap lol, I get the real thing anyway >< Well, Matt is implying you might want to visit porn sites sometime but wont be able to (with any browser) if you block sites using HOSTS. But since you got the real thing, use the HOSTS option. That way, unless your brother and kid you baby sit are overly smart they'll never work out how to unblock sites ;)

Mercifull
Search for a file called HOSTS (note it has no file extension) Should be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC Open it in notepad. Check to see if there are any entries for runescape eg 127.0.0.1 runescape.com If there is then delete it and Runescape will work again. If its not there then add a new entry 127.0.0.1 http://www.neowin.net Or whatever his site is. This will give a "page cannot be displayed" when he tries to visit that site. Then tell him you wont unblock that site until he unblocks runescape ;) thats what i wrote in an older thread where someones brother blocked runescape lol. Obviously change http://www.yourbrosfavepr0nsite.com Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Icky
Uhm, perhaps it's not very usefull. But why not let them look @ the pr0n. They just get over it. If you are going to say they cannot do it, they will do it without you knowing.
Faux
Thing thing is. he doesn't have a 'favourite' porn sites. The nub googles stuff. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
____
Um, I know guys who have been looking up porn since they were 13 and are currently 24 or so. When people eventually get over it is undefined and totally random. And they can get it somewhere else anyways. All ShadowFaxPZ here wants is to make sure they aren't doing it on his computer. Granted they could just download and install another browser but then you can just move onto disabling those applications in the registry if they keep busting through applications to filter content :P
Chris
Wow a topic about porn, why wasn't I informed. :D Seriously if any of the sites have valid certificates you can use internet explorers built in protection to block said sites, I'm unsure although if anything like that is possible with firefox. If you choose a good enough password for the internet explorer thing, your brother shouldn't be able to get around it. There are also slightly more expensive options obviously. Go to your local large computer store and ask for programs to protect children from "naughty" sites. :P Or get your mum to do it. 8) Notoriously Trollish. Have you tried using that parental filter program i suggested then? It should block common porn search keywords and hundreds of thousands of adult sites.
