August 7, 200916 yr Who here has seen the show Weeds? F-bombs and nudity aren't censored which is odd for a TV show in America. Isn't that show on HBO? Because for some reason HBO doesn't get censored as much.
August 7, 200916 yr Author Who here has seen the show Weeds? F-bombs and nudity aren't censored which is odd for a TV show in America. Isn't that show on HBO? Because for some reason HBO doesn't get censored as much. I don't know the specifics but that has to do with the fact that HBO isn't part of "basic" programming. Television is looked at sort of like a utility; the government regulates the basic level; but if you want to buy television+ they don't regulate the +. August 9, 200916 yr 7 words can't be said on Us television by law. Anything else, you just need to slap on a "ESRB" like rating on thetop left hand corner and you're safe. You might lose views with different demographics, but it's legal.
August 9, 200916 yr Weeds is on Showtime actually but it is what you call Pay or Premium television and they don't have to follow the strict guidelines of the FCC.. Also the ESRB is not the US television rating system it is called "TV Parental Guidelines".
August 9, 200916 yr I was kinda sad when they censored the c word on Good News Week one week. :( Still, I kinda like them not censoring as much, I really hate watching a show and hearing that beep. It kinda ruins the fun. Steam | PM me for BBM PIN Nine naked men is a technological achievement. Quote of 2013. PCGamingWiki - Let's fix PC gaming!
August 11, 200916 yr Even Nickolodeon's laying down some things...I was watching George Lopez and a GI Joe commerical came up. In the song it said "American Bad[wagon]". On Nick. Wow. Stretch that. They've changed it. Now you only near "American Bad-". "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
August 11, 200916 yr Well I live in the UK and the censorship has always been more loose than America and many other countries and I haven't noticed a change here recently so I guess all of you are finally catching up with us! ;-) I believe I saw a German Axe ad where two girls in bikinis started rubbing it all over each other and giggling. Gotta say, I'd love to see more of those in America. :\ To Germany then? *packs bags* Steam | PM me for BBM PIN Nine naked men is a technological achievement. Quote of 2013. August 11, 200916 yr For some reason in America you can say "God damnit", but the "God" part is censored. Not to be an [wagon]...but did you really just ask why god would be "protected" in America? Yes, I did. You can have characters shout "Jesus Christ!" and other stuff like that that would be considered "blasphemous", but you can't say that one thing in particular? It's for the Jewish. Saying God is considered blasphemous (instead you see them type "G-d." With the above mentioned profanity being more heinous than the F word could ever be. That's why. August 11, 200916 yr Look at the skit preformed by george carlin "The 7 words you cannot say on TV" (Warning. Bad language. Obviously.). He was arrested for proforming that becuase he "broke the peace". Now, those words are used all over TV. So, censorship is changing, slowly but surely.
August 13, 200916 yr IMO, censorship isn't needed if people can respond to it in a mature and correct matter. Example: My dog is a (Cabbage). the "B" word, by definition, means ugly female dog. :| There are three sides to any argument: your side, my side and the right side.
