I was using my brothers laptop in the kitchen, and got egg onto the touch pad (I know stupid rite?). I cleaned it up immediately but the tap feature of the touchpad doesn't work. Also, In cleaning the touchpad click buttons i scratched the sensor on the left mouse button. The thing doesn't seem to work at all. What should I do, Its an hp product but they charge 50$ just to LOOK at the thing before repairing it. Help, please. How much would it cost just to repair that one button?

A REPLACEMENT?

Ok picture this, they replace your yew and magic trees with a tree that if you attempt to cut it alone your axe breaks, if you cut it with a group as soon as you get a log you get a skull on your head, all the other woodcutters attack you and you cant log out for 3 minutes.

Bounty hunter and tournaments were not a replacement, they are garbage.

Order a new touchpad and replace it?

Thats what I did when the back cover behind my monitor cracked. it was like $59 for that part. I'm not sure how much a touch pad would cost, I'm guessing $50-$100?

Word of warning replacing a touchpad is normally one of the most annoying parts to replace on laptop (last one I replaced I literately took the whole thing apart before I could replace the touchpad).

Dry it out the try using compressed air to blow any junk out of the touchpad.

Take out the mouse to get the model number or google around for one. Then look for a 3rd party supplier that has one as i don't think HP will sell you one and then just put in in your self. A lot of the mouses are melt into the panel so you will pry have the melt it off and then melt it back on. On another no you seem extremely careless. I wouldn't ever let you touch my stuff.

do not try to get it fixed without talking to him... tinkering with it may void the warranty which would be much more obnoxious if something more serious happened down the line.

Let your brother deal with it and pay what it costs.

Honestly, I'd put the laptop back where you found it and act like you don't know what happened once he found out. ;)
