Are there any good free chest plates I can use at 75 defence? I was saving up for a d chain but I think I might just go straight for a ss...

You can try a barrows plate.

Get a torag platebody. Cheap and greatly effective. :thumbup:

Barrows is fine for you. Much cheaper than dragon, and better stats. Don't know what you mean by "free" because there aren't really any good items you can get for close to free, unless you want to use 40-def quality things...but Torag's, Dharok's, and Guthan's platebodies are all very cheap and have the same very good stats, so just get one of those.

d chain sucks for 5 mill gp. You can buy full guthans for that price. Buy torags for cheap defense if you're low on cash. Next, SS is overrrated. Yes, it can train str, but that only useful if the following are true:

 

1. high enough defense to drop a shield

 

2. high enough attack to make killing the monster without a defender worth it

 

3. not fighting any sort of monster that requires a shield or shield slot item (no drags or basilisks).

 

IMO, ss is a waste of cash. Basically, it would be like buying a seers ring over a lunar ring. The obsidian sword + zerker necklace is much more lenient with higher attack power than the ss and hits about as high if not higher. It is a good alternative to SS and better than the d scimmy on low defense monsters (which is surprising a lot).

 

 

 

Go with barrows. There's no "free" plate at that level. The cost seems high, but it's not, trust me. Slay smart and you'll profit a lot.

Barrows is really the way to go. Dragon's outdated and most other things aren't worth the time, effort or cost.

What is a good setup for me?

 

 

 

Weapon: Get a whip and keep the dragon scimmy for strength training.

 

 

 

Head Slot: Totally fine. Get a Barrows helm if you have tanking needs

 

 

 

Chest Slot: Contrary to what many people say, the rune plate is still a very competent piece of armour in P2P and is good for medium strength monsters. Otherwise, just get a Torag or Dharok body for higher defence.

 

 

 

Legs: Torags or Dharoks. Verac's for some extra pray.

 

 

 

Feet: You're good to go

 

 

 

Shield: The rune defender is arguably the best shield slot item in the game. The DFS is only good for meleeing dragons and the obby shield is, well, not worth the attack bonus loss. Spirit shields would give a better crush bonus.

Get the whip. Best weapon for slaying. Only use the D scim if you plan on training str.
